The authors examine the principles and technologies of RNPLS&T’s Open Archive development. Special attention is given to the urgency of the task under the circumstances of digitalization. The main goal is seen as building the Single Open Archive of Information (SOAI) of the Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology that is to accumulate every digital full-text resources designed or acquired legally by the Library. The key principles of SOAI as an integrated information system are specified. The functionalities and protocol table structure for RNPLS&T’s SOAI soft- and hardware are discussed. The projected functional structure of the archive is described and explained. Possible software and hardware solutions for SOAI application and metadata server are discussed along with the interaction with large related information systems like the National Electronic Library (NEL). The system implementation will become the next important stage in building the typical model of e-library as a player in the open archive system. This is to facilitate the technology of data exchange in library information systems, units of science information within research organizations, universities, general educational institutions, and to support information retrieval via the single access point at web-portals. The article is prepared within the framework of the State Order № 075-01300-20-00 “Design and development of RNPLS&T’s Open Archive of Integrated Information Library Resources as a modern system of knowledge management within the digital environment: On the way to Open Science” for the years 2020–2022.

Metadata performance scalability is critically important in high-performance computing when accessing many small files from millions of clients. This paper proposes a design of a scalable distributed metadata server, PPMDS, for parallel file systems using multiple key-value servers. In PPMDS, hierarchical namespace of a file system is efficiently managed by multiple servers. Multiple entries can be atomically updated using a nonblocking distributed transaction based on an algorithm of dynamic software transactional memory. This paper also proposes optimizations to further improve the metadata performance by introducing a server-side transaction processing, multiple readers, and a shared lock mode, which reduce the number of remote procedure calls and prevent unnecessary blocking. Performance evaluation shows the scalable performance up to 3 servers, and achieves 62,000 operations per second, which is 2.58x performance improvement compared to a single metadata performance.

We hold in mind the issue of key purpose for relaxed many-to-numerous correspondences. the inconvenience is energized by way of approach for approach for the growth of first rate scale exceeded on record structures associate parallel the the front to diverse restrict devices. Our works of art offices around th e slicing side net fashionable for such record structures, i.e., parallel machine record device (pNFS), which makes utilization of Kerberos to accumulate parallel session keys amongst clients and restriction devices. Our observe of the forefront Kerberos-based totally really definitely display wellknown that it has distinct controls: (I) a metadata server empowering key trade among the customers and the capability devices has large first rate weight that confines the versatility of the meeting; (ii) the collection does now not talented vide ahead of time spine chiller; (iii) the metadata server makes itself most of the people of the communicate keys which may be related the unique customers a d storing devices, and this essentially enacts key escrow. on this paper, we underwrite an association of established key ex trade indicates which may be deliberate to comply to the above inconveniences. We display that our indicates are composed for reducing u p to more or extensively much much less fifty four% of the long-lasting assignment handy of the metadata server and simultaneously supporting in advance puzzle and escrow-freeness. This calls for maximum straightforward a chunk a bit of raised computation overhead on the customer

It is observed that none of the academic institutes in India contributes for the development of SDI model at national level. Some of the developed models are not highly encouraging with respect to technical, organisational and institutional aspects. Non-availability of a standard functional SDI model based on SOA, Lack of technical interoperability and security aspects have also been a prime concern in SDI models using Open Source GIS (OSGIS). This article discusses appropriate application areas, i.e. the Education Sector, Geographical Indication and Mineral Resources Information Infrastructures to develop and implement the SDI model by a suitable adoption of OSS. The architecture of SOA-based interoperable and secure SDI models, which links the metadata server to database server, 3-tier interoperability and security framework with the help of OSGIS is developed and implemented.

The article addresses the description of technological approaches used to create distributed information systems for supporting scientific research. We describe the developed architectural solutions which are intended to create such systems and the principles for integrating of these systems with the external sources. The functional requirements for the model of such an information system are determined. These requirements are determined, firstly, by the information needs of researchers, and secondly, by ensuring a reliable and long-term storage of information. The considered model of SIS is implemented in the form of a prototype of the Electronic Library Management System (ELMS IRIS). ELMS IRIS operates with electronic collections. The electronic collection is considered as a set of information objects, united on a semantic basis and having the same structure (data schema). An ELMS allows to work with two types of collections which are the catalogs and the thesauri. The rules of representation and transformation of metadata are discussed. In order to organize metadata exchange between repositories and a metadata server (as well as with other systems with an extended profile), a special service is created that converts metadata from the internal schema into other metadata schemes. The OAI-PMH service is implemented, which periodically synchronizes the metadata of the repository and the metadata server in accordance with the schedule in batch mode. To fill the “Main metadata catalog”, in accordance with the metadata schemas created, managed dictionaries are used from the reference support block. To ensure data interoperability, the application server based on ZooPARK-ZS is also implemented, which provides access to system metadata via Z39.50 and SRW/SRU protocols. The developed model can be used as a model of the system for working with documents related to scientific and educational activities, since it solves the main tasks for these systems which are to provide a system for reliable long-term storage of digital (electronic) documents while preserving all the semantic and functional characteristics of source documents as well as ensuring “transparent” search and access of users to documents. These actions are necessary both for familiarization and for the analysis of the facts contained therein; and organization of collection of information on remote digital repositories supporting protocols OAI-PMH, SRW/SRU, Z39.50.

In the large scale distributive environment involving mobile network, metadata server and storage applications, the data access and the security measures are of paramount importance. In parallel application processing, data is distributed across multiple servers and storage location. Ensuring confidentiality and availability of the data to the authorised users at the appropriate time involves high level of encryption algorithms, key management schemes and security algorithms. In this paper, key escrow scheme is implemented with the light weighted symmetric algorithm, elliptic curve cryptography in the distributed environment. Key escrow centre is established along with the metadata server and the encryption keys are segmented and shared among the multiple sub agents using Shamir threshold sharing scheme. The implementation of Key Escrow mechanism with Elliptical Curve Cryptography provides wide range of flexibility and confidentiality in the distributed environment. It also eliminates private secret sub key problem and thereby ensuring better security.
