Abstract Introduction Nutritional support is an integral part of Burns management. Local guidelines for malnutrition screen are available at Southmead Hospital. Aim Audit was aimed at compliance of malnutrition screen for all admissions to “Adult Burns Unit” to the local guidelines. Method A retrospective data of baseline and weekly malnutrition screen was collected and analysed for 106 patients between April and August 2017. These findings were compared to the following local guidelines; Results Of 106 patients, most (n = 72) had <5% TBSA burn. 9 were resus burns (TBSA >15%). 50 patients stayed less than a week while 34 discharged within 24hrs. 20 stayed longer than seven days. Compliance of recording weight on admission was 46.2% while weekly assessment 10%. Height and BMI were measured for 24.5% of admissions. 81% of patients had admission bloods and 19 out 20 staying longer than a week had weekly bloods. All major burns were referred to dietician. Conclusions Assessment of %TBSA, admission and weekly bloods, and dietician referral were areas of good practice. However, compliance with recording weight and height on admission did not meet the Trust target of 85% We recommended a checkbox for weight and height on admission in Trust’s electronic handover system, monitor at weekly burns MDT and re-audit.

Motor-neuron disease (MND) is a neuro-degenerative disease characterized by muscle wasting and loss of muscle strength. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is the commonest among MND. Bibrachial amyotrophic diplegia is a variant of ALS where the disease is restricted to upper limbs. A case of Bibrachial amyotophy charaterised by weakness of both upper limbs associated with wasting was managed in SNA Ayurveda Nursing home. The condition is considered as Vataroga with special designation as ‘Bahusosha’. A 21 days treatment course was planned and executed which include Snehana, Swedana, Sodhana and Rasayana chikitsa. The patient was assessed symptomatically. A weekly assessment based on the quality of his daily activities was performed. A satisfactory improvement was observed with gradual gaining of upper limb strength. There was betterment in his gross and fine motor activities including quality of writing. The principle line of treatment was Dosha vilayana, Dosha sodhana, and Dathu vardhana which is found to be suitable for Vata – Kapha Roga.

Using measurement-based and feedback-informed approaches is key to providing effective family-centered clinical care; a strength-based approach is shown to improve treatment outcomes and satisfaction. Yet, there are few brief, psychometrically sound assessment tools for preschool-aged and elementary school–aged children. In response, we developed a nine-item, two-scale measure, the Weekly Assessment of Child Behavior–Positive (WACB-P), suitable for children aged 2 to 12 years. We examined the psychometric properties of the WACB-P based on two low-income, clinical samples differing in intervention modality and location (Sample 1: N = 285; Sample 2: N = 137). WACB-P demonstrated high internal validity and test–retest reliability. The item response theory (IRT) paradigm applied to the Intensity Scale revealed that the items showed moderate discrimination and adequate precision, particularly effectively capturing behavioral challenges. Repeated-measures analysis of covariance (RM-ANCOVA) showed significant linear effects from session to session, suggesting sensitivity to change during treatment. WACB-P demonstrated strong convergent validity with established measures of child behavior problems. These favorable results position the WACB-P as a suitable choice for agencies providing measurement-based behavioral health care for young children and their families.

Postharvest rot due to injury is a major contributing factor to the declining quality of stored seed yams (Dioscorea spp.). Among the several known injuries, the piercing effect of speargrass rhizomes has become a serious constraint for yam production in Ghana. The objective of this study was to assess injuries on seed yams resulting from piercing of speargrass rhizomes and their effects on postharvest rots in Ghana. Eighty farmer fields from Mem, Watro, Asanteboa and Abour in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal in the Bono East Region of Ghana were screened for speargrass incidence and injury on harvested tubers, for laboratory analysis of pathogens in 2016 and 2017. The tubers were sorted into four categories of seed yam based on weight. Thirty seed yams each of two selected white yam cultivars (Dente and Kpamyo) with visible speargrass rhizome-pierced-tubers (VSRPT) and non-speargrass rhizome pierced healthy tubers (NSRPHT) were randomly selected and stored in a ban for weekly assessment of rot. The rotten tissues from the localised area of VPSRT were subjected to pathological investigations in the laboratory. The incidence of injury seemingly increased with increasing tuber weight. It was 0% for < 100 g samples and averagely 14% for > 1 kg samples, irrespective of cultivars and locations. Incidence of rot from NSRPHT sample was observed 5 weeks after storage (WAS) for both cultivars; and 2 WAS from the VSRPT sample and 40% higher than NSRPHT at 8 WAS. Eight and six known rot pathogens were isolated from the rotten tissues of VSRPT of Dente and Kpamyo, respectively. Injury from the piercing of speargrass rhizome significantly contributed to hastening of tuber rots; while tuber injury increased with increasing speargrass density. Appropriate management of speargrass is essential for commercial seed yam growers to reduce tuber damage which affects yam quality, storage and marketing. Key words: Dioscorea, postharvest, rot pathogen, speargrass rhizome

This study aims to describe how the management of religious and moral activities at the Padang Schools TK. The method used by the researcher in this research is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis technique carried out is data triangulation. The results of the study at Padang TK TK Schools, that the religious and moral activities at the Padang Telkom Schools TK had been carried out in accordance with the planned plans. Activities carried out such as shaking children, pledging and praying, ablution, reading the Asmaul Husna, short letters, prayer, humming al-Quran, tahfidz, reading prayers before washing hands and eating, reading prayers after eating, and reading daily prayers before going home school. Furthermore, after the child has carried out the activities the teacher conducts an evaluation by means of daily assessment, weekly assessment, and final semester assessment.
