Abstract The aim in this work was to monitor heavy metals in plants of elderberry species. The objective of the research was to identify the actual concentrations of heavy metals in the fruits and leaves of the studied elderberry species. The need to determine deviations in the content of heavy metals in various parts of plants arose because the current ecological situation in Belgorod’s area requires special attention. The presence and concentration of heavy metals in different elderberry species and different parts of plants vary greatly and have the following features. Increased magnesium content was observed in almost all elderberry species, especially in red-fruited (Sambucus racemosa ‘Aurea’, S. sibirica Nakai, S. racemosa L., S. racemosa ‘Plumosa’, S. coreana Nakai), And its concentration much higher in fruits than in leaves. The highest deviation of the magnesium content from the norm was noted in the fruits and leaves of S. sibirica (2 and 1.5 times, respectively). Black elderberry species (S. nigra L., S. canadensis L., S. canadensis ‘Plumosa’) have a lower magnesium concentration in fruits and leaves. On the other hand, the concentration of copper in fruits and leaves in elderberry species is many times higher than the norm.

Abstract Heavy metals have a relationship with fish organs. The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of heavy metals in various organs of Gerres abbreviatus and Parastromateus niger. The research was conducted in Kao Bay waters from April to September 2019. Samples obtained were prepared at the aquatic science laboratory of Khairun University and were analyzed at the Environmental Productivity Laboratory of IPB University Bogor using the AAS instrument to determine heavy metals concentrations. The result of the heavy metals accumulation in Gerres abbreviatus meat was Zn > Cu > Pb > Ni > Hg > Mn > Cd. Meanwhile, the heavy metals accumulation in Roi fish (Parastromateus niger) meat was Zn > Mn > Ni > Hg > Pb > Cd > Cu.

In the article the results of studying the sites of industrial enterprises, which have stopped their activities fully or partially in Minsk, are discussed. It is shown that in most cases the re-development of industrial sites with a change of their functional purpose is carried out after 10 years or more. Based on the results of preliminary investigation of a number of the former industrial sites, it was established that such sites continue to be sources of pollutants after the completion of enterprises activity. The enrichment of technogenic substrates carried out from industrial sites by surface runoff (sediments near storm collectors and in topographic lows) with heavy metals is shown. The average content of cadmium in sediments is 2,6 (maximum – 3,9), lead – 3,1 (14), copper – 2,5 (2,2), zinc – 1,7 (2,8), nickel – 3,3 (8,0), chromium – 3,4 (6,6) times higher than in soils. The established standards for lead were exceeded in 63 % of cases, for cadmium – in 77 %, for zinc and copper – in 100 % of cases. The maximum permissible concentration was exceeded 5 times for at least one indicator in almost half of the samples (44 %). The dependence of heavy metals accumulation on the specialization of previously carried out industrial activities is shown. The need for improvement of scientific and methodological approaches to studying of contaminated and potentially contaminated post-industrial areas in connection with their planned re-profiling for urban planning purposes is discussed.
