The goal of this chapter is to argue that the complex nature of shame, and its responsiveness to the moral views of others, is precisely what makes shame a good catalyst for moral development. Shame’s connection to honor, reputation, and praise often leads modern authors to consider it as a morally dubious emotion: heteronomous, superficial, and possibly rooted on the unchecked questionable customs of a stratified society. This chapter is devoted show that the interpretation of shame as a superficial concern with reputation or external recognition comes about as a result of overlooking the connections that Aristotle makes between love of honor and love of the noble. For Aristotle, shame’s connection to honor, reputation, and praise, far from making it an heteronomous and superficial emotion, is what makes it the emotion that puts us in the path towards true autonomy and virtue.

A new route for the synthesis of benzothiazolopyrazoline derivatives has been developed using various chalcone derivatives and 2-hydrazinobenzothiazole and piperidine catalyst. The product obtained in shorter reaction times and piperidine behaves as good catalyst for the cycloaddition rof chalcone and 2-hydrazinobenzothiazole. The reaction carried out in aqueous-ethanol medium at reflux condition and product obtained in high yield.

ZnCl2 in 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium trifloromethanesulfonate was found to be a good catalyst for the Friedel-Crafts acylation. The ketone product was isolated easily from the reaction mixture. The reactions were found to proceed smoothly under microwave irradiation. The isolated yield was high with 95% selectivity of pisomer within a few minutes. Moreover, ZnCl2 and ion liquid have been recovered and reused several times without significant loss of catalytic activity.

The effect of metals on support material fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO), were studied. A series of metals such as ruthenium (Ru), osmium (Os), palladium (Pd), and copper (Cu) on FTO support were prepared by a simple wet mixture method, and attempted as a heterogeneous catalyst to enhance the hydrogenolysis of glycerol converted to 1,2-propanediol (1,2-PDO). The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized by XRD, XPS, BET, FESEM, TEM, TPR, and TPD techniques. In particular, the catalyst of Ru-FTO was recorded as a good catalyst with an optimum glycerol conversion of 100% and 1,2-PDO selectivity of 94% respectively. It was suggesting that the acid an basic properties of the catalyst could achieved the C-O and C-H bond dissociation by formation of different intermediates of acetol and acetaldehyde to become 1,2-PDO. Despite that, some reaction parameters were evaluated and optimized reaction condition were established
