This study aims to identify diction which is related to message logic in communicating on social media. The identification is carried out based on Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast that is aired on YouTube. The analysis of diction is an interesting study when, as one of the reasons, it is related to the efforts to effectively convey messages that are beneficial to a society. This study combines the concept of diction and Message Logic Theory, particularly "message design logic." The method applied is observation on the data source in the form of a video recording with note-taking techniques by which identification, classification and data reduction could be carried out. There are two main results in this study. First, the diction includes general words consisting of graded words and abstract words, and particular words consisting of proper names and the words that have suggestive power. Second, the dominant message logic that appears in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast episode "Malih, Pesan Pedas Tuk Ade Londok” (Malih, Sharp Message for Ade Londok) is expressive logic and rhetorical logic. The implication of this research on diction and communication logic is a description of the importance of choosing the right words in public spaces. This study also recommends other researchers to do further researches by using more speech data so that public communication patterns can be mapped better.

Honesty is a central concept in interpersonal communication ethics, typically studied through the lens of self-disclosure in close relationships. Expanding the self-disclosure construct to encompass multiple types of messages occurring in public and private relationships offers additional insights. Across relational contexts, at least two aspects of human communication are relevant to honesty: the content dimension, which references factual information carried by a message; and the relationship dimension, which provides the implied stance or attitude toward the other and/or the relationship. This dimension provides interpretive nuance for the content dimension, its implications for honesty shaped by culture and context. This chapter considers five themes relevant to communication research—self-disclosure and restraint, Grice’s theory of conversational implicature, message design logic, communication competence, and civility, authority, and love—and explore the implications of each content area for honesty in human relationships.

Effective communication is one of the most fundamental aspects of successful patient care, and it frequently depends on the nurses’ ability to empathize with patients while finding effective ways to translate medical science into personally relevant health information. Skilled nurses are expected to understand the patient’s experiences and feelings and be able to communicate this understanding to the patient, but language strategies used to achieve the goal of empathic communication can vary. In this article, we employed the model of message design logics to evaluate what strategies nursing students ( N = 343) used to express empathy during a simulated health history training. The results of this study advance our understanding of what constitutes a high-quality response to the disclosure of personal health history facts. In addition to providing a general framework for understanding empathic responses during health history assessment, the message design logic perspective highlights the differences in linguistic choices in simulated patient–provider conversations.
