Abstract: Welding is an enormously essential manufacturing technique which allows the users to create permanent joints efficiently, due to its durability this process is extensively used in various industries like automotive, construction as well as in the aviation industry. The present study focuses on the optimization of the Metal Arc Welding using VIKOR method. Four input variables Current, Voltage, Wire Feed Rate and Gas Flow Rate are considered to study their effect on three responses tensile, bending and hardness on the weldments of AISI 1008 low carbon steel material. Experiments were planned as per Taguchi‘s L9 OA. As traditional Taguchi method is not adequate to solve multi responses problem, to overcome this limitation MCDM approach VIKOR analysis has been carried out for obtaining optimal parameters setting for multi-response optimization. Three specimens (for tensile, bending, and hardness) for each experimental run are fabricated for the measurement of respective strength and hardness. Investigation is done by following the steps of VIKOR method, and optimal parameter setting for multi quality response is obtained corresponding to the lower VIKOR index value. Keywords: Metal Inert Gas (MIG) Welding, VIKOR, S/N ratio, ANOVA

Important in testing services in medical laboratories is the creation of a flexible balance between quality-response time and minimizing the cost of the service. Beyond the different Lean methods implemented so far in the medical sector, each company can adapt the model according to its needs, each company has its own specifics and organizational culture, and Lean implementation will have a unique approach. Therefore, this paper aims to identify the concerns of specialists and laboratory medical services sector initiatives in optimizing medical services by implementing the Lean Six Sigma method in its various variants: a comparative analysis of the implemented models, with emphasis on measuring externalities and delimiting trends in reforming/modernizing the method, a comprehensive approach to the impact of this method implementation, and an analysis of available databases in order to underline the deficit and information asymmetry. The results highlighted that in the case of clinical laboratories, the Lean Six Sigma method is conducive to a reduction of cases of diagnostic errors and saves time but also faces challenges and employees’ resistance in implementation.

Abstract Anoxia is a common phenomenon at the bottom of large reservoirs during thermal stratification. In an anoxic environment, an increasing amount of reducing substances and nutrients are released and settle at the hypolimnion of the reservoir, leading to water quality deterioration and eutrophication. This work presents a case study on Daheiting Reservoir, a part of the Water Diversion Project from the Luanhe River to Tianjin City. With the monitored data of the water temperature and dissolved oxygen content in the reservoir, and based on the mechanism of redox reactions, the water quality response to the hypolimnetic anoxia in Daheiting Reservoir was systematically analyzed. It was found that the release of total phosphorus from the sediments in Daheiting Reservoir was a joint effect of the biological and chemical processes, and the redox reaction in the anoxic zone boosted release of phosphorus. Anoxia in the reservoir caused the ammonia nitrogen released from sediments in the reservoir to accumulate at the hypolimnion, which increased the concentration of ammonia nitrogen in the water. Anoxia in the reservoir led to an increase in the concentration of iron and manganese, which accounts for the major driving factor of release of iron and manganese.

Abstract: The routing schemes in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) systems are performed among the groups of different clusters. The node works for data aggregation from the source nodes and they also perform data dissemination and network management and events sensing and information collecting in the neighbourhood. Many clustering topologies have been proposed in recent years to localize the route within the cluster itself. In this work, it has been reviewed and compared these topologies to find out the network mechanism which is easier to manage and scalable for getting high quality response with respect to dynamics of the environment.

One of the pressing responsibilities of education in Mexico is to provide quality response to the needs in training of competent professionals to solve problems that arise in different areas of social life. Hence a permanent concern of educational institutions is to establish evaluation systems that demonstrate that the objective is achieved in vocational training. In the Interdisciplinary Center for Health Sciences, Unit Milpa Alta, the National Polytechnic Institute (CICS-UMA. IPN) is applying a learning system based on research with social responsibility, it has allowed us to operate the learning units integrated in the terminal stage of the Academic Program Optometry, apply them to solving social problems through community practice and thus really evaluate the quality of professional future. It is in the community where our students must demonstrate through application of treatment protocols based on research, that have acquired cognitive and procedural knowledge and its application with an ethical sense based on moral standards observed in the communities under study and service in the field of visual health.

Modeling and optimization is an important task in food manufacturing. It enables one to understand and describe processes which in turn help establish quantified relationship between input and output variables. Modeling and optimization help to make informed decision on a process with the objective of improving efficiency and minimizing cost while maintaining quality. Response surface Methodology (RSM) has been employed in modeling and optimizing several food processing operations including baking, cooking, roasting, drying, extrusion, fermentation and many others. Moreover, RSM has been extensively used in product formulation and ingredient optimization. This chapter describes the application of RSM in food process modeling and optimization. The steps to be followed, the experimental designs that can be used and the interpretation of response surfaces developed are described. Moreover, selected application of RSM in food process modeling and optimization are reviewed and presented.
