The relevance of the problem under research is determined by the fact that so far there is no literature that would in a fairly complete manner cover the issues of initial training of specific techniques. At the same time, active growth of popularity of women’s water polo has entailed the need to engage practicing female athletes into coaching. In this situation the lack of the required methodological literature on initial training becomes even more essential. Methodology – the purpose of this article is to determine the structure of ball handling training process through identifying the sequence of learning specific techniques. The work includes surveys, analysis and synthesis, as well as empirical study method – an experiment. Findings – this work present a special set of exercises aimed at training of initial ball handling techniques in water polo. Significance – the materials of this article may be found useful by the students of physical education departments, water polo coaches, as well as by teachers of extended educational system.

Early dance programs and departments at colleges and universities tended to focus on modern dance rather than ballet, but ballet has been more central to dance in higher education since the 1960s. Many college dance programs started in physical education departments, signaling the early twentieth-century concern with women’s bodies and appropriate physical activity for women, but they eventually moved into performing arts divisions. This change reflected the shift from a more holistic approach to an emphasis on performance. Dance programs in higher education today are more likely to focus on producing professionals than on training dance teachers or educating those who see dance as a liberal art. As a result, a small but growing number of professional ballet dancers have graduated from college, which was rare until very recently. There is also a growing field of dance studies with roots in history, philosophy, art, and culture as well as performance.

The FIFA 2018 World Cup is a significant event for Russian society. Ministries carry out various actions to promote football in the country. The Russian society of sociologists conducted a survey (4703 respondents) to understand the attitude to the Championship. Further, the teachers of the Ural Federal University conducted a survey of the attitude to football fans. Scientists have found that over the past 7 years, citizens have become more positive about fanaticism, but there is a problem of lack of objective information. To solve this problem, teachers at the Institute of physical culture of the Ural Federal University have developed a special course "Basics of working with the fans". The course is designed for students, postgraduates and teachers of physical education departments of universities, as well as stewards and volunteers. Since September 2017, 118 students have been trained in this course. The course consists of two parts: theoretical – describing the types of fans, information about the differences between fans from different countries; practical – reviewing the real situations of interaction with fans, communicating with Russian and foreign fans. Classes are conducted by a sports psychologist who studies football fans for 8 years.

Anti-fat bias by professors in physical education departments may interfere with the training provided to pre-service teachers. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the attitudes of professors in physical education departments toward obese individuals. Professors from randomly selected institutions across all four US regions participated in the study ( N = 94). Participants took the Implicit Association Test and answered the Anti-Fat Attitude Scale and two questions specifically designed to measure their attitudes toward physical education teachers and majors who are obese. The participants exhibited implicit good–bad ( p < .001) and lazy–motivated ( p < .001) anti-fat biases. Professors favored accepting majors who are obese ( p < .001), but they strongly disapproved of obese physical education teachers as role models to their students ( p < .001). Explicit anti-fat bias was associated with a stronger disapproval of physical education teachers who are obese as role models to students ( p < .001) and accepting majors who are obese ( p < .001). Implicit good–bad anti-fat bias was associated with a stronger disapproval of obese physical education teachers as role models to students ( p = .047). The anti-fat bias demonstrated by the professors may negatively affect the training of pre-service physical education teachers to work with students of all body sizes. Awareness programs may be necessary to diminish anti-fat bias among professors in physical education teacher education programs.

AbstractThe current study revolves around research in sport consumption motivations exploring Nationality and Gender difference across fan motivations to watch sports in a way similar to Kwon and Trail (2001) in Indian context, a subject neglected until now. Data was collected from 260 respondents from India’s largest Private University. Findings reveal Group Affiliation as the most important motivation followed by Eustress (entertainment), Aesthetics, and Self-Esteem. Betting on sports was found as the least preferred motivation. Findings revealed Nationality having a significant impact on Group Affiliation and Aesthetics while Gender has a significant impact on Group Affiliation, Eustress as well as on level of identification with sport. These findings have implications for sports marketers of different sporting events involved in marketing of sports related activities to enhance their marketing practices. The results of the current study are of interest for physical education departments of large private Universities which can use them to promote their sports events at a large scale. The last section of the study discusses the results in detail followed by directions for future research.
