The increasing number of aircraft flying around the world has led to the requirement for air traffic controllers to improve their communication skills to face high demand traffic in the future. The paper examines the communication errors in the pilot-controller communication of six ab-initio air traffic controllers during simulation training. More than three hours of conversation were collected and analyzed qualitatively using conversational analysis. The transcribed data yielded a total of 62 instances of communication errors. The data revealed that clarity and pronunciation of ab-initio controllers contributed to problematic communication and reduced the efficiency of the air traffic controllers in communicating. In contrast, pronunciation errors rarely diminished comprehension amongst the controllers and pilots who share a similar first language and are familiar with the use of English in a lingua franca setting. The study also describes other instances of communication errors in pilot-controller communication. The results indicate that ab-initio air traffic controllers need to be proficient in three main areas in pilot controller communication to improve their performance: aviation phraseology, aviation English, and aviation knowledge. The findings suggest that pilots and air traffic controllers should achieve level 4 (operational) in aviation language proficiency test, before proceeding to aviation training that requires them to be proficient in their language skills.

This study aims to identify the motivating factors for the practicing of Islamic values among students at the Malaysian Aviation Training Academy. Crisis in moral and moral turmoil among students is the contributor of failure to translate Islamic values in the form of practicing in the daily lives of students should be carried out assessment so that the understanding and practization of Islamic values becomes the basis for students' lives. This study is in the form of surveys using adapted questionnaires certified by two assessors in the field of Islamic education who are experienced and have good reliability value. A total of 169 students from aircraft maintenance engineering licence courses (CAT B1.1) and aircraft maintenance technician licenses (CAT A1.1) through sampling techniques were easily involved in this study. The degree of reliability (alpha cronbach) for each study question is 0.85 for parental factor aspects, 0.79 for mass media factors, 0.74 for lecturer factors and 0.68 for peer factors. The data was analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science, Version 20. The findings found that lecturers were the highest factor with mean 4.33, followed by parental factors of 4.61, peer factor 3.65 and mass media 4.50. Finally, the implications of this study show that the emphasis on the practice of Islamic teaching is crucial so that students become a Muslim who practices good morals in everyday life based on the Quran and as-Sunnah to develop good student personality

The integrated aviation training curriculum has been implemented to ensure high-quality aviation personnel training in Malaysia. However, the implementation process seemed to be at a slow pace which requires serious attention to strategic leadership and continuous quality improvement practices, especially in aviation training establishments. Therefore, this paper basically aims to discuss the level of strategic leadership and continuous quality improvement through the implementation of an integrated aviation training curriculum among local aviation academies. Additionally, the relationship between strategic leadership and continuous quality improvement practices will also be highlighted. The research utilized a quantitative approach with a survey design to address the research objectives. The respondents were 60 employees chosen from selected flying training academies using stratified random distribution. Descriptive data were collected through the adapted version of the “Strategic Leadership Questionnaires” and the “Continuous Quality Improvement Climate Survey”. Findings indicated that the levels of studied variables were high. Inferential statistics showed that there was a significant positive relationship between strategic leadership and continuous quality improvement practices. Based on the above findings, this paper provides important evidence for the aviation academy management board, national aviation authority, and the aviation community at large with regards to the primary role of strategic leadership and continuous quality improvement practices through the implementation of an integrated aviation training curriculum.
