An Eco-critical Analysis of Moby Dick

Moby Dick is well acknowledged as a world masterpiece by the American author Herman Melville. This paper attempts to analyze Melville’s Moby Dick by the theory of eco-criticism. In order to better approach the American society before the 1950s, the author aims to scrutinize the novel with eco-criticism from three such aspects as nature, society and spirit so that the present society can gain some insights in preventing and solving similar problems. Divided into several parts as follows, this paper introduces Melville and Moby Dick as well as eco-criticism first and then interprets the novel via eco-criticism in three aspects, and finally ends with its realistic significance as a conclusion.

Measuring of the COVID-19 Based on Time-Geography

At the end of 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic began to emerge on a global scale, including China, and left deep traces on all societies. The spread of this virus shows remarkable temporal and spatial characteristics. Therefore, analyzing and visualizing the characteristics of the COVID-19 pandemic are relevant to the current pressing need and have realistic significance. In this article, we constructed a new model based on time-geography to analyze the movement pattern of COVID-19 in Hebei Province. The results show that as time changed COVID-19 presented an obvious dynamic distribution in space. It gradually migrated from the southwest region of Hebei Province to the northeast region. The factors affecting the moving patterns may be the migration and flow of population between and within the province, the economic development level and the development of road traffic of each city. It can be divided into three stages in terms of time. The first stage is the gradual spread of the epidemic, the second is the full spread of the epidemic, and the third is the time and again of the epidemic. Finally, we can verify the accuracy of the model through the standard deviation ellipse and location entropy.

LA is concerned about the relationship among humans, the buit, and nutural environments, so it is of especial importance to study what LA firms are supposed to do in ESG practice. This paper made a detailed discussion about each of the ESG responsibilities of LA firms respectively in accordance with the distinctive firm characteristics of the LA industry. This study might have two possible implications for the literature on ESG: (1) an industry-based approach to the study of ESG performance is of theoretical and realistic significance; and (2) ESG responsibilities are worthy of attention for the study of LA firms.

Analysis of the Business of the Regional Enterprises in the Belt and Road

With the increase in China’s opening up to the outside world, the implementation of China’s “One Belt, One Road” strategy has become more in-depth, and foreign-invested enterprises have an indispensable role in China’s economic growth. As the starting point of the Silk Road, with its unique geographical location and important strategic position, Shaanxi will link Shaanxi with the regional enterprises in the Belt and Road, which will improve the utilization rate of foreign capital in Shaanxi Province in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative. The cooperation of countries along the way has important and realistic significance. Based on the data of foreign-invested enterprises in Shaanxi Province in 2017, this paper analyzes the business characteristics and business performance of the regional enterprises in the Belt and Road in Shaanxi. Finally, draw the conclusion of this paper and give the corresponding policy recommendations.

Research on Prevention and mitigation of Deep Mine Hazards in Ningzheng Mining Area

Ningzheng Mining Area, as one of the key mining areas of Longdong Energy Base in Gansu Province, whose average overburden depth of coal seams is more than 800 meters and average thickness of coal seams ranges from 8m to 14m. This paper analyzed the typical characteristics of water damage, heat damage, high mine pressure and gas disaster in Ningzheng mining area. Disaster prevention measures and two resource utilization prevention technologies (namely EMS cooling technology, Gas power generation and cogeneration system cooling technology) were put forward, the rearch has a realistic significance for the safety exploitation, comprehensive utilization of deep coal resources in China, energy conservation and emission reduction and development of circular economy.
