Abstract The definition of fractional calculus is introduced into the 5D chaotic system, and the 5D fractional-order chaotic system is obtained. The new 5D fractional-order chaotic system has no equilibrium, multi-scroll hidden attractor and multi-stability. By analyzing the time-domain waveform, phase diagram, bifurcation diagram and complexity, it is found that the system has no equilibrium but is very sensitive to parameters and initial values. With the variation of different parameters, the system can produce attractors of different scroll types accompanied by bursting oscillation. Secondly, the multi-stability of the hidden attractor is studied. Different initial values lead to the coexistence of attractors of different scroll number, which shows the advantages of the system. The correctness and realizability of the fractional-order chaotic system are proved by analog circuit and physical implement. Finally, because of the high security of multi-scroll attractor and hidden attractor, finite-time synchronization based on the fractional-order chaotic system is studied, which has a good application prospect in the field of secure communication.

This paper studies a system of coupled discrete fractional-order logistic maps, modeled by Caputo’s delta fractional difference, regarding its numerical integration and chaotic dynamics. Some interesting new dynamical properties and unusual phenomena from this coupled chaotic-map system are revealed. Moreover, the coexistence of attractors, a necessary ingredient of the existence of hidden attractors, is proved and analyzed.

Abstract A four-dimensional chaotic system with complex dynamical properties is constructed via introducing a nonlinear function term. The paper assesses complexity of the system employing equilibrium points, Lyapunov exponent spectrum and bifurcation model. Specially, the coexisting Lyapunov exponent spectrum and the coexisting bifurcation validate the coexistence of attractors. The corresponding complexity characteristics of the system can be analyzed by using C0 and spectral entropy(SE) complexity algorithms, and the most complicated integer-order system is obtained. Furthermore, the circuit which can switch the chaotic attractors is implemented. It is worth noting that the more sophisticated parameters are received by comparing the complexity of the most complicated integer-order chaotic system with corresponding fractional-order chaotic system. Finally, the results of simulation model built in the MATLAB are the same as the hardware verified on the Field-Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) platform, which verify the feasibility of the system.

In this paper, the dynamics of an economic system with foreign financing, of integer or fractional order, are analyzed. The symmetry of the system determines the existence of two pairs of coexisting attractors. The integer-order version of the system proves to have several combinations of coexisting hidden attractors with self-excited attractors. Because one of the system variables represents the foreign capital inflow, the presence of hidden attractors could be of real interest in economic models. The fractional-order variant presents another interesting coexistence of attractors in the fractional-order space.

A Cournot duopoly game is a two-firm market where the aim is to maximize profits. It is rational for every company to maximize its profits with minimal sales constraints. As a consequence, a model of constrained profit maximization (CPM) occurs when a business needs to be increased with profit minimal sales constraints. The CPM model, in which companies maximize profits under the minimum sales constraints, is an alternative to the profit maximization model. The current study constructs a duopoly game based on an isoelastic demand and homogeneous goods with heterogeneous strategies. In the event of sales constraint and no sales constraint, the local stability conditions of the Cournot equilibrium are derived. The initial results show that the duopoly model would be easier to stabilize if firms were to impose certain minimum sales constraints. Two routes to chaos are analyzed by numerical simulation using 2D bifurcation diagram, one of which is period doubling bifurcation and the other is Neimark–Sacker bifurcation. Four forms of coexistence of attractors are demonstrated by the basin of attraction, which is the coexistence of periodic attractors and chaotic attractors, the coexistence of periodic attractors and quasiperiodic attractors, and the coexistence of several chaotic attractors. Our findings show that the effect of game parameters on stability depends on the rules of expectations and restriction of sales by firms.

In this paper, chaotic dynamics of a mixed Rayleigh–Liénard oscillator driven by parametric periodic damping and external excitations is investigated analytically and numerically. The equilibrium points and their stability evolutions are analytically analyzed, and the transitions of dynamical behaviors are explored in detail. Furthermore, from the Melnikov method, the analytical criterion for the appearance of the homoclinic chaos is derived. Analytical prediction is tested against numerical simulations based on the basin of attraction of initial conditions. As a result, it is found that for ω = ν , the chaotic region decreases and disappears when the amplitude of the parametric periodic damping excitation increases. Moreover, increasing of F 1 and F 0 provokes an erosion of the basin of attraction and a modification of the geometrical shape of the chaotic attractors. For ω ≠ ν and η = 0.8 , the fractality of the basin of attraction increases as the amplitude of the external periodic excitation and constant term increase. Bifurcation structures of our system are performed through the fourth-order Runge–Kutta ode 45 algorithm. It is found that the system displays a remarkable route to chaos. It is also found that the system exhibits monostable and bistable oscillations as well as the phenomenon of coexistence of attractors.

A general formalism describing a type of energy-conservative system is established. Some possible dynamic behaviors of such energy-conservative systems are analyzed from the perspective of geometric invariance. A specific 4D chaotic energy-conservative system with a line of equilibria is constructed and analyzed. Typically, an energy-conservative system is also conservative in preserving its phase volume. The constructed system however is conservative only in energy but is dissipative in phase volume. It produces energy-conservative attractors specifically exhibiting chaotic 2-torus and quasiperiodic behaviors including regular 2-torus and 3-torus. From the basin of attraction containing a line of equilibria, the hidden nature of chaotic attractors generated from the system is further discussed. The energy hypersurface on which the attractors lie is determined by the initial value, which generates complex dynamics and multistability, verified by energy-related bifurcation diagrams and Poincaré sections. A new type of coexistence of attractors on the equal-energy hypersurface is discovered by turning the system parameter values to their opposite. The basins of attraction under three sets of parameter values demonstrate that the Hamiltonian is the leading factor predominating the dynamic behaviors of the system with a closed energy hypersurface. Finally, an analog circuit is designed and implemented to demonstrate the consistent theoretical and simulation results.

In this paper, a single-degree-of-freedom vibroimpact system with multilevel elastic constraints is taken as the research object. By constructing the Poincaré map of the system and calculating the Lyapunov exponent spectrum of the system, the stability of the system is determined. Using the multiparameter collaborative numerical simulation method, the parameter domains of various periodic motions are determined, and the diversity and transition characteristics of periodic motions are revealed. At the same time, combined with the cell mapping method, the coexistence of attractors induced due to grazing bifurcation, saddle-node bifurcation, and boundary crisis is studied. Finally, the influence of system parameters on periodic motion distribution is analyzed, which provides a scientific basis for system parameter optimization.
