Herethis paper is review on monographical pulication „Filozofia słowa. Zarys dziejów” [The Philosophy of the Word. A Short History] by Bolesław Andrzejewski. The Polish philosopher’s book is one and only publication which dares to present and contrast concepts and theories on the word which appears in the history of Western Civilisation from the times of ancient Greek philosophers, through Christian thinkers and German romantics and representants of Enlightenment, ending with English and American pragmatists and positivists, not to omit prominent linguists like Ferdynand de Saussure, Noam Chomsky, Ernst Cassirer or Wilhelm von Humboldt. Original view of the author on philosophy of language makes the reviewed book unique, since Andrzejewski tries to break through the analytic, so common nowadays, paradigm and proposes to run the consideration concerning language in the spirit of lingua ac communitas, so to speak, he treats language basically as a tool for interpersonal communication and a way of gaining understanding within community.

ZusammenfassungDer vorliegende Aufsatz beleuchtet die komplexen Wechselbeziehungen zwischen Physik, Literatur und Philologie in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Ausgehend von einem Brief des österreichischen Physikers Erwin Schrödinger an Ernst Cassirer gehen wir der Frage nach, inwiefern die prominenten deutschsprachigen Vertreter der aufstrebenden theoretischen Physik nicht nur literarische Texte und Inhalte verarbeiteten, sondern in ihrer zutiefst philologisch geprägten Publikations- und Arbeitspraxis auch textwissenschaftlich operierten. Lassen sich in den nachgelassenen und publizierten Schriften von Physikern wie Schrödinger neue Hinweise darauf finden, dass die »Macht der Philologie« noch weit ins Jahrhundert der Physik nachwirken, ja Philologie vielleicht sogar als Wissensmodell in der theoretischen Physik fungieren konnte?

Maria dos Canos Serrados (2013), de Ricardo Adolfo, e a recriação pulp do real

O presente artigo analisa o romance Maria dos Canos Serrados, de Ricardo Adolfo, buscando compreender de que forma o realismo se apresenta na ficção portuguesa do século XXI. Percebe-se um deslocamento do termo realismo no escopo da literatura portuguesa, entendido como fotografia da realidade (no século XIX), questionamento engajado da realidade (com o neorrealismo, no século XX) e recurso em favor da narratividade do romance (século XXI). Caracterizada pelo ritmo dinâmico próprio da narrativa cinematográfica e valendo-se do espaço, da denominação (cf. Ernst Cassirer) e de inverossimilhanças narrativas (cf. Santo Agostinho e Tzvetan Todorov), a obra de Ricardo Adolfo apresenta as atuais mazelas da sociedade, num realismo social e numa estética pulp que se afastam das principais vertentes do romance português contemporâneo.

Sascha Freybergs Beitrag befasst sich mit der Frage der Geschichtsbilder und den Formen ihrer Erfassung. Im Zentrum steht die Verbindung von Wahrnehmung und Geschichte im Vorhaben Kittsteiners eine neue Kulturgeschichte anhand der Geschichtsbilder der jeweiligen Epoche zu schreiben. Dabei wird dieses Vorhaben in Verbindung mit der Rezeption der ersten Kulturwissenschaft und der Kulturphilosophie von Ernst Cassirer, sowie der daran anschliessenden philosophischen Ikonologie von John M. Krois gesetzt.

Imágenes míticas y oníricas: un análisis desde La psicología arquetipal

Para desarrollar este artículo nos respaldamos en la psicología arquetipal y, fundamentalmente, en las obras de James Hillman, su principal representante. Nuestro objetivo con este trabajo es reexaminar su pensamiento y revisar en sus textos las ideas fundamentales que giran alrededor de las imágenes míticas y oníricas, las cuales representan un distanciamiento de los estrechos modelos racionales y tradicionales aún vigentes. Elegimos a priori algunas direcciones teóricas de la mitopoética para orientar esa investigación sobre las imágenes, así que vamos a dar énfasis también a autores como Mircea Eliade, Ernst Cassirer y Gaston Bachelard que abordan este tema desde una perspectiva más mítico-simbólica.

Karl Löwith’s Secularization Thesis and the Jewish Reception of Heidegger

This article argues that Karl Löwith’s thesis of secularization—in brief, that while modern philosophical notions present themselves as secular, they are in fact secularized, that is, they preserve features of the theological background they repress and remain determined by it—can serve as a productive hermeneutical key for framing and understanding an important strand in the twentieth century Jewish response to Heidegger’s philosophy. It takes Ernst Cassirer, Leo Strauss, and Martin Buber as test-cases and demonstrates that these three Jewish thinkers interpreted various categories of Heidegger’s Being and Time to be not simply secular but secularized Christian categories that continue to bear the mark of their theological origin even in their now-secular application and context. The article concludes with a number of reflections and observations on how Löwith’s thesis of secularization can shed light on the polemical and political-theological edge of this strand in Heidegger’s Jewish reception.
