Sustainable development for transition economies is an opportunity to accelerate and complete socio-economic transformations and at the same time an additional responsibility in situations of instability and uncertainty. The chances for strengthening sustainability are growing within the organized innovation space, which makes it possible to model scenarios of ecologically oriented development and, with the help of state and international support, to start their implementation. The paper aims to analyze the possibilities and directions of creating eco-industrial parks in a transition economy. It uses an innovative helix model in its triple, quadruple and quintuple variations for functioning and sustainable development of industrial parks in Ukraine.The study adopts a descriptive comparative analysis of data on the planning and implementation of economic, primarily environmentally relevant, activities. Based on the analysis and description of exogenous factors, in particular within GEIPP, a SWOT table on the potential of eco-industrial parks was formed. The directions of development of industrial, technological, and scientific parks in Ukraine are determined using the quintuple helix model on the plane of “knowledge-innovation”, in particular on quadruple helix transition to sustainability through the simultaneous development of socially oriented and environmental activities. Within the legislation, it is proposed to approve a sustainable form of artificially separated innovation parks, namely the “eco-industrial park”. One of the conditions for advanced sustainable development in Ukraine is the creation of a national program to support the transformation of innovation parks into their environmental versions 2.0 and 3.0, as well as investing in greenfield eco-industrial parks.

Purpose This study aims to analyze the practices and relationships of companies established in Science and Technology Parks (STPs) as drivers of the quadruple and quintuple helix (QQH) and the determinants for aligning with the future vision of STPs. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted a survey of companies associated with consolidated STPs and used the Structural Equation Model technique to predict such relationships. Findings The results showed a positive relationship between the QQH and the Future Vision of STPs, in addition to the relevance of collectives as representatives of the quadruple helix (QH). Research limitations/implications Collectives are a recent phenomenon and require longitudinal studies on their performance in innovation environments. Practical implications Companies that are part of collectives are the actors of the QH. Social implications The role of collectives in aligning with the future vision of STPs should be considered. Collectives reflect people’s vision and can help STPs from being a closed environment and expand their performance, with a key role in connecting innovation environments. The authors found that collectives are promising in practices related to sustainability, thus contributing to STPs with their ability to mobilize the ecosystem. Originality/value The research emphasizes the role of companies as agents of QQH in innovation environments, strengthening the increasing and distinct role of collectives in their relationships with STPs.

Open data hackathons are events where the actors from an ecosystem collaborate to build platforms that will benefit the public, creating a win–win scenario for all of them. Sadly, many digital services produced in hackathons are discarded only by providing access to open data that cannot boost economic benefits. Therefore, it is necessary to create a model that fosters value and entrepreneurship for the open data ecosystem, aiming to develop an economically self-sustained ecosystem. The purpose of this paper is to identify the challenges participants of open data hackathons can face to present a model that will support the improvement of these contests. This paper uses the quadruple/quintuple helix innovation model to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in Thessaloniki’s open data ecosystem to develop applications using open data. The results indicate that, although actors are aware of open data use, a new type of open data ecosystem that creates a win–win scenario between the entities in the open data ecosystem is required. The proposed model implies a full effect that promotes cooperation and networking among the entities in the city’s ecosystem towards achieving the aim of increasing citizens’ quality of life.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan akuntansi sosial yang dilakukan pengrajin minyak kelapa. Penelitian ini di lakukan karena adanya keunikan proses bisnis pengrajin minyak kelapa yaitu adanya simbiosis mutualisme dengan masyarakat sekitar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Tempat penelitian di lakukan di Kelurahan Kedungkamal, Kecamatan Grabag, Kabupaten Purworejo. Sumber data yang di gunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer. Pengumpulan data dengan partisipasi langsung wawancara pada pengrajin minyak kelapa maupun tokoh masyarakat setempat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengrajin minyak kelapa membawa keberuntungan bagi masyarakat sekitar, yaitu hasil tanam pohon kelapa dibeli pengrajin kelapa dan penduduk desa mendapatkan pekerjaan. Dampak lingkungan diterima masyarakat berdasarkan nilai-nilai budaya Jawa yaitu prinsip kekeluargaan dan “tepo sliro”. Implikasi penelitian ditujukan kepada aktor quintuple helix untuk menjaga keberlanjutan akuntansi hijau.

Despite the rising interest in smart city initiatives worldwide, governmental theories along with the managerial perspectives of city planning are greatly lacking in the literature. It is definitely understandable that the adoption of configurational pathways toward the ‘smart’ ‘governance’ models is required as a key factor and smartness’ facilitator in modern cities. In this manuscript, we display an exhaustive literature review on the importance of the n-Helix models along with a benchmarking critical approach through selected European case studies. This paper reveals the lack of exhaustive analyses for the methodological investigation, identification, and adoption of the most appropriate governance model per project including collaborative approaches. In addition, the paper deploys modular frameworks to efficiently address the continuous urban challenges, such as the rapid urbanization or the climate change.

Статья посвящена особенностям цифровизации экономики. Особое внимание уделено изучению проблем устойчивого развития промышленного предприятия в условиях цифровизации экономики. Для обеспечения устойчивого развития про-мышленного предприятия необходимо учитывать принципы модели пятизвеньевой спирали (Quintuple Helix). Эта модель может обеспечить согласование основных экономических, социальных и экологических требований в условиях цифровизации экономики. Такой подход необходимо учитывать при принятии любого цифрового решения, связанного с новыми технологиями и реализацией принципов устойчивого развития. Цифровизация экономики имеет много положительных эффектов для достижения целей устойчивого развития: повышение производительности, новые требования к квалификации персонала, повышения цифровых навыков, широкое распространение зеленых технологий и т.д. При этом в долгосрочной перспективе может возникнуть проблема истощения ресурсов.

An overview is presented of the well-established role of alkaloids in drug discovery, the application of more sustainable chemicals, and biological approaches, and the implementation of information systems to address the current challenges faced in meeting global disease needs. The necessity for a new international paradigm for natural product discovery and development for the treatment of multidrug resistant organisms, and rare and neglected tropical diseases in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Quintuple Helix is discussed.
