Purpose This paper aims to propose a machine learning approach-based power theft detection using Garra Rufa Fish (GRF) optimization. Here, the analyzing of power theft is an important part to reduce the financial loss and protect the electricity from fraudulent users. Design/methodology/approach In this section, a new method is implemented to reduce the power theft in transmission lines and utility grids. The detection of power theft using smart meter with reliable manner can be achieved by the help of GRF algorithm. Findings The loss of power due to non-technical loss is small by using this proposed algorithm. It provides some benefits like increased predicting capacity, less complexity, high speed and high reliable output. The result is analyzed using MATLAB/Simulink platform. The result is compared with an existing method. According to the comparison result, the proposed method provides the good performance than existing method. Originality/value The proposed method gives good results of comparison than those of the other techniques and has an ability to overcome the associated problems.

Abstract Several species of mosquitoes respond to the presence of kairomones released by larvivorous predators during oviposition habitat selection and larval development. These responses may differ among mosquito species and do not always correlate with larval survival. This study examined the responses of the mosquito Culiseta longiareolata Macquart (Diptera: Culicidae) to kairomones released by three species of fish, Gambusia affinis (Cyprinodontiformes: Poeciliidae), Aphanius mento (Cyprinodontiformes: Cyprinodontidae) and Garra rufa (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) during oviposition. In addition, the study examined the effects of kairomones released by Gm. affinis on larval development and survival. Results show that ovipositing female avoided cues from the two larvivorous fish species but not the algivorous Gr. rufa. In addition, developing larvae metamorphosed slower and showed increased mortality when exposed to fish-released kairomones. Culiseta longiareolata larvae are known as dominant competitors, and the straightforward responses of both larvae and adult female to fish-released kairomones may be explained by the lack of additional sources of larval stress other than the presence of predators.

Fish pedicure (feet immersion in a tank containing fish Garra rufa or Cyprinion macrostomus) is a widely diffuse cosmetic practice, usually considered safe. However, this practice is regulated only in a few Countries, and the risk of infection related to this practice is not quantified. We report a case of bilateral symmetric ankles and feet cellulitis in a previously healthy young woman without risk factors for infections, after a fish pedicure in Greece. Three cases of foot infection after fish pedicure have been described in the English literature, two sustained by S. aureus and one by Mycobacterium marinum, but none of them was so extensive, involving not only feet but also ankles. The practice of the aesthetic fish pedicure should be regulated in all Countries to reduce the risk of complications related to this procedure. Moreover, studies targeted at investigating the risk of infection associated with this procedure are warranted. Keywords: Fish pedicure; Cosmetic procedure; Cellulitis; Risk infection.

More than 1000 thermal and mineral water springs with temperatures from 20°C to102°C occur in Turkey. Kangal Balikli Hot Spring is known as psoriasis treatment center is one of the most important among these springs. The main scope of this research was to determine geological, hydrogeological and biological properties and water chemistry of the psoriasis treatment center and the stream running alongside the thermal pools. The spring water is an isothermal-hypotonic and oligometalic mineral water, having average of electrical conductivity: 530 μS cm-1, temperature: 35°C, CO2 8.70 mg l-1, pH 7.30 and O2 4 mg l-1. Calcium, magnesium and bicarbonates are dominant. Neither the chemical figures nor the temperature (35±1°C) of the water shows seasonal change. There are two fish species, Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus, that adapted living at 35°C water temperature. The mean fork length and body weight of the fish living in the psoriasis treatment center is significantly lower than those living at the stream. Some of the fish in the pools showed symptoms of illness such as exophthalmus, scale loose, skin ulceration, pale gills, and bloated appearance. Gut analysis revealed that both species have been feeding on algae, insect parts, fish scales, and debris. In most cases the guts of fish caught in the pools were either empty or had very little content in it. Zooplanktons had little species and were not recorded frequently.

Fish pedicures and/or fish manicures are treatments performed in spas involving the use of the living fish <i>Garra rufa</i>. In the last decade, the use of <i>G. rufa</i> for cosmetic and therapeutic reasons has become increasingly popular. The patients are placed into a bath to control psoriasis, eczema, or other skin conditions, but there is no scientific proof of their effectiveness. Most of the infections described in association with fish spas result from minor skin injury and contact with fish carrying such bacteria as <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>, <i>Aeromonas sobria</i>, and <i>Mycobacterium marinum.</i> Therefore, fish spas in general should not be recommended, particularly for diabetic patients, immunocompromised patients, or patients treated with biological agents.
