More than 1000 thermal and mineral water springs with temperatures from 20°C to102°C occur in Turkey. Kangal Balikli Hot Spring is known as psoriasis treatment center is one of the most important among these springs. The main scope of this research was to determine geological, hydrogeological and biological properties and water chemistry of the psoriasis treatment center and the stream running alongside the thermal pools. The spring water is an isothermal-hypotonic and oligometalic mineral water, having average of electrical conductivity: 530 μS cm-1, temperature: 35°C, CO2 8.70 mg l-1, pH 7.30 and O2 4 mg l-1. Calcium, magnesium and bicarbonates are dominant. Neither the chemical figures nor the temperature (35±1°C) of the water shows seasonal change. There are two fish species, Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus, that adapted living at 35°C water temperature. The mean fork length and body weight of the fish living in the psoriasis treatment center is significantly lower than those living at the stream. Some of the fish in the pools showed symptoms of illness such as exophthalmus, scale loose, skin ulceration, pale gills, and bloated appearance. Gut analysis revealed that both species have been feeding on algae, insect parts, fish scales, and debris. In most cases the guts of fish caught in the pools were either empty or had very little content in it. Zooplanktons had little species and were not recorded frequently.

The soil fertility aspect is characterized by the good biological properties of the soil. One important element of the soil biological properties is the bacterial population present in it. This research was conducted in the laboratory of Microbiology University of Malikussaleh in the May until June 2016. This study aims to determine the number of bacterial populations in soil organic and inorganic so that can be used as an indicator to know the level of soil fertility. Data analysis was done by T-Test that is by comparing the mean of observation parameter to each soil sample. The sampling method used is a composite method, which combines 9 of soil samples taken from 9 sample points on the same plot diagonally both on organic soil and inorganic soil. The results showed the highest bacterial population was found in total organic soil cfu 180500000 and total inorganic soil cfu 62.500.000

Neolissochilus hexagonolepis (McClelland, 1839) is one among the notable species in snow-fed torrential rivers of Nepal. The present study attempts to investigate some reproductive traits of N. hexagonolepis, including the length at first maturity, fecundity and its relationships with biometric variables like lengths (TL, SL, and FL) and weights (TW and OW) of the fish in the mid-reaches of Tamor River, Nepal. A total of 109 fish samples were collected from the river. For each individual, total length (TL), standard length (SL) and fork length (FL) were measured in a fully stretched condition to the nearest 1mm using a measuring tape and graduated ruler, while total weight (TW) and ovary weight (OW) was measured using a digital balance with the precision of 0.01 g. The mean absolute fecundity (F) was 8356.44 ± 4612.59 and ranged from 2398.6 to 20160. SL was more significantly correlated with absolute fecundity (R2=0.59; p<0.001) than other body metrics. The results showed that female individuals of N. hexagonolepis attained the first sexual maturity at TL 32.9 cm. N. hexagonolepis exhibited a protracted breeding period with its ovaries passing through six different stages of maturation. The finding of the present study may serve as a protocol for fishery biologists and managers to promulgate adequate regulations for continual fishery management in the River Tamor, Nepal.

The present study analysis size and weight-frequency composition of Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus thynnus) fattened in Tunisian farms for the period 2005-2010 and compare these morphometric parameters with those from wild bluefin tuna landed on 2001 at Sfax port (Tunisia). A total of 6,757 wild and fattened bluefin tuna were measured as straight-line fork length and 49,962 were weighted. Average value of K for wild BFT was 1.59 and respectively 2.43, 2.32, 2.15, 1.61, 1.79 and 1.90 for Fattened BFT after 5-6 months from 2005 to 2010. Length frequency of fattened bluefin showed clearly a substantial increase in juvenile rate. The percentage which was 21.4% in 2005 reached 31.3% in 2009. For weight distribution, 73.3% of the fish caught in 2001 are below the annual mean (75.7 kg), while means 71 to 72% of fattened fish were under annual mean weight. Year 2009 is exceptional because only 57% of fattened fish were under the mean weight. This demonstrates that the fish caught are becoming increasingly small. Mean weight for fattening period (77 to 124 kg) are obviously higher than those of the wild fish (75,7kg).This study showed an increment in the amount of specimen under first sexual maturity which will not have the chance to spawn.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this research was to characterize an environmental structure in the setting of tree natural water springs in a Lower Highland Seasonal Forest, and to verify the relationship between community demography and soil variables as subsidies for species identification in riparian forest recovery programs in similar environments. The research was carried out in the National Forest of Chapecó, located in the west of the state of Santa Catarina in the southern region of Brazil. For this, three water springs were demarcated, where 26 plots of 200m² in each were allocated. All individuals with diameter at 1.30m of soil height ≥5.0cm were measured. Soil samples (0 to 20cm depth) were collected in the plots for chemical and physical analysis. To relate the abundance of the species to the edaphic variables, the Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) was used. A total of 76 species belonging to 64 genera of 36 botanical families were reported in the study area. The families Fabaceae and Myrtaceae presented greater floristic richness. The edaphic variables that most influenced the distribution of the species were aluminum saturation and calcium, magnesium and potassium contents. Specific groups of indicator species were formed for each water spring. The species designated as generalists are the most recommended for the initial filling and recovery of degraded springs. Further rare species and with low density must be included after the initial recovery to increase diversity.

Abstract A radiological analysis of hot spring water of Hammam Debagh (also called Hammam Meskhoutine) and its associated deposits was realized. Hammam Debagh is considered to be the second hottest springs in the world with a temperature of 98°C and this lead to the creation of travertine. This later was formed because of limestone deposited by mineral springs in a rapid sedimentation of calcium, magnesium bicarbonates, and sulphides. The analysis showed that two-thirds of radioactivity was left by spring water in their deposits. The presence of uranium in the spring deposits was due to the property of the uranyl ion to form stable complexes with carbonates and precipitates. The radiation hazards indexes were estimated and compared with those given in literature.

AbstractThe impact of different geographical regions (Silesian Foothills, region 1 and Maly Beskids, region 2), and method of soil use (arable field and grassland) on the main soil properties and biological activity was studied. Earthworm biomass, density and diversity, as well as dehydrogenase activity, were analysed. Significant soil physical and chemical properties were more affected by regions, whereas the type of land use had a greater impact on the biological properties. The mean earthworm density was 213 ind. m

Alfalfa samples at the hay stage of development were harvested by hand from 35 farms where bloat was a serious problem and from 38 farms where bloat did not occur even on lush legume pastures. The samples were analysed for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, calcium, magnesium, and true protein. There were no differences in the mean contents of these constituents between bloating and non-bloating farms. There were wide ranges within both types of farm; true protein for example varied from 7.3 to 14.6% in alfalfa from bloating farms, with a similar range from 7.7 to 16.9% from non-bloating farms. Correlation coefficients revealed a significant association between nitrogen and phosphorus (.488) in alfalfa from non-bloating farms. There were significant associations between sulphur and nitrogen (.366) and between sulphur and protein (.707) in alfalfa from bloating farms. This correlation between sulphur and protein was the only coefficient that was significantly different from the corresponding correlation coefficient for non-bloating farms.
