The thermally conductive structural film adhesive not only carries large loads but also exhibits excellent heat-transfer performance, which has huge application prospects. Herein, a novel epoxy (Ep) thermally conductive structural film adhesive was prepared using polyphenoxy (PHO) as the toughening agent and film former, boron nitride (BN) nanosheets as the thermally conductive filler, and polyester fabric as the carrier. When the amount of PHO in the epoxy matrix was 30 phr and the content of nano-BN was 30 wt.% (Ep/PHO30/nBN30), the adhesive resin system showed good film-forming properties, thermal stability, and thermal conductivity. The glass transition temperature of Ep/PHO30/nBN30 was 215 °C, and the thermal conductivity was 209.5% higher than that of the pure epoxy resin. The Ep/PHO30/nBN30 film adhesive possessed excellent adhesion and peeling properties, and the double-lap shear strength at room temperature reached 36.69 MPa, which was 21.3% higher than that of pure epoxy resin. The double-lap shear strength reached 15.41 MPa at 150 °C, demonstrating excellent high temperature resistance. In addition, the Ep/PHO30/nBN30 film adhesive exhibited excellent heat-aging resistance, humidity, and medium resistance, and the shear strength retention rate after exposure to the complicated environment reached more than 90%. The structural film adhesive prepared showed excellent fatigue resistance in the dynamic load fatigue test, the double-lap shear strength still reached 35.55 MPa after 1,000,000 fatigue cycles, and the strength retention rate was 96.9%, showing excellent durability and fatigue resistance.

Vinyl acetate is an organic chemical raw material of great industrial value. It is widely used in synthetic film, adhesive, coating and textile slurry. The production route of vinyl acetate is introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of synthesis methods of vinyl acetate method, acetylene method, EDA cracking method, base synthesis method and Halcon method are compared. The method of carbide acetylene has high economic efficiency, low energy consumption and good environmental protection, proposing the development direction of ethylene acetate production technology.

In this paper, chirped fibre Bragg grating (CFBG) sensors used to monitor the structural health of a composite patch used to repair an aluminium panel is presented. To introduce damage, a notch was produced at the centre of an aluminium panel. The repair consisted of bonding a pre-cured composite patch to the host panel using an aerospace-grade film adhesive; the sensor was embedded in the bond-line during fabrication of the repair. The repaired panels were subjected to tension-tension loading in fatigue. Cracks initiated and grew from both ends of the notch in the aluminium panels and the fatigue loading was stopped periodically for short periods of time to record the reflected spectra from the sensor. It was found that perturbations in the reflected spectra began to occur when the crack was within about 2 to 3 mm of the sensor location; after the crack passed the sensor location, the perturbations essentially stabilised. Predicted reflected spectra have been found to be in good agreement with the experiment, confirming that CFBG sensors can detect crack growth in patch-repaired panels.

The use of various adhesives and adhesive binders in the composition of organoplastics is shown, as well as the use of adhesives for gluing structural elements made of organoplastics in the composition of products. Examples of the use of VK-3 film adhesive as part of VKO-20 and VKO-2TB organoplastics, VK-36RT adhesive as part of VKO-19, VKO-19L organoplastics, VSK-14-2m adhesive binder as part of VKO-24 organoplastics are given. The results of the use of VK-41M adhesive in the composition of the Alor D16/41 aluminum organoplastic and the use of this material in the An-124 aircraft are presented.
