This review study focuses on a forensic psychological tool, Brain electrical Oscillation Signature Profiling, and its mechanism. In precise, this paper reviews the studies of eyewitness testimony and BEOS in particular. The previous empirical studies and review articles elucidate that BEOS can be used to overcome the effect of internal and external factors in eyewitness testimony. False memory or confabulatory experiences would not affect the accuracy of Brain Electrical Oscillation Signature Profiling. During the trial process, witness testimony can do through BEOS in the future. More empirical researches are necessary for the application of forensic psychology tools in the field of witness testimony.

AbstractDecades of research have been dedicated to understanding the corrosion mechanisms of metal based implanted prosthetics utilized in modern surgical procedures. Focused primarily on mechanically driven wear, current fretting and crevice corrosion investigations have yet to precisely replicate the complex chemical composition of corrosion products recovered from patients’ periprosthetic tissue. This work specifically targets the creation of corrosion products at the metal on metal junction utilized in modular hip prosthetics. Moreover, this manuscript serves as an initial investigation into the potential interaction between implanted CoCrMo metal alloy and low amplitude electrical oscillation, similar in magnitude to those which may develop from ambient electromagnetic radiation. It is believed that introduction of such an electrical oscillation may be able to initiate electrochemical reactions between the metal and surrounding fluid, forming the precursor to secondary wear particles, without mechanically eroding the metal’s natural passivation layer. Here, we show that a low magnitude electrical oscillation (≤ 200 mV) in the megahertz frequency (106 Hz) range is capable of initiating corrosion on implanted CoCrMo without the addition of mechanical wear. Specifically, a 50 MHz, 200 mVpp sine wave generates corrosion products comprising of Cr, P, Ca, O, and C, which is consistent with previous literature on the analysis of failed hip prosthetics. These findings demonstrate that mechanical wear may not be required to initiate the production of chemically complex corrosion products.

SUMMARY To improve the accessibility of robotics, we propose a design and fabrication strategy to build low-cost electromechanical systems for robotic devices. Our method, based on origami-inspired cut-and-fold and E-textiles techniques, aims at minimizing the resources for robot creation. Specifically, we explore techniques to create robots with the resources restricted to single-layer sheets (e.g., polyester film) and conductive sewing threads. To demonstrate our strategy’s feasibility, these techniques are successfully integrated into an electromechanical oscillator (about 0.40 USD), which can generate electrical oscillation under constant-current power and potentially be used as a simple robot controller in lieu of additional external electronics.

Medical students are being trapped in the void between basic sciences and clinical facts. Of greater concern is that the chasm is widening with the progressive decline of the basic sciences, which require years to master. Meanwhile we expect our doctors to disperse quickly and start righting the wrongs. Teaching laboratories are becoming more sophisticated in order for students to be able to intubate and put up CVP (central venous pressure) lines unsupervised. Cardiac murmurs are digitalised, recorded and replayed. Mitral valve prolapse is an electrical oscillation of red lights and not the whooping of a white dove. The experience is made as real as possible and becomes ever more surreal. Medicine becomes performance based and frozen. The patella hammer rests on top of the book.

This article shows the development of techniques for deception detection has reached a stage of extreme complexity as the information sought must be extracted from the brain of suspects, instead of making inferences about it from the emotional effects produced during the traditional lie detection tests. This includes the presentation of concealed information and oral or behavioral responses by the individual are necessary requirements for use of these techniques. The new technique described here extracts information directly from memory, without having the individual respond to the statements - probes presented. It measures the components of electrical oscillations generated during remembrance of autobiographical episodes, which can occur only when one has acquired the experiences through participation in the said activities.
