Cemented tailing backfill (CTB) in underground mine inevitably experiences seepage field, which complicates its mechanical behavior. In this study, the mechanical properties and microstructure characteristics of CTB under different seepage water pressures (SWPs) were investigated. The results show that, with the increase in SWP, the mechanical properties of CTB decrease, but the decreasing trend reduces gradually. Higher SWP leads the microstructure of CTB looser and more porous, and the largest proportion of pores initiated and propagated by SWP is micropores, which means the damage in CTB under seepage is mostly caused by micropores. Besides, the mechanical properties of CTB under seepage decrease exponentially with the increase in porosity and present linearly inverse proportional relation to the pore area fractal dimension. Results above indicate that SWP has a significant deterioration effect on the mechanical properties and microstructure of CTB. The research could not only extend the knowledge of mechanical properties and microstructure characteristics of CTB under seepage but also provide a theoretical reference for mechanical index determination and stability analysis of CTB in water-rich underground mines.

There is little empirical research on the effect of working after retirement on the mental health of the older adults in China. To fill this gap in the literature, this study examines the effects of working after retirement on the mental health of the older adults using data from the China Family Panel Studies. We employed the methods of ordinary least squares, ordered logit, and propensity score matching–difference in differences (PSM–DID). Results show that working after retirement is negatively related to mental health of the older adults in China. The deterioration effect of post-retirement work mainly impacts those aged over 60 years, women, and those with lower education background, urban household registration, higher pension, and higher social status. Working after retirement is negatively related to mental health through the mediating effects of deteriorating interpersonal relationships and lower positive attitude. It is necessary to consider mental health effects and their population differences to evaluate the impact and improve the quality of policies of active aging.

In this paper, ER50-6 steel was fabricated by wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) with an A-W GTAW system. The microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behaviors of ER50-6 steel by WAAM were studied. The results showed that, with the GMAW current increased, from the bottom to the top of the sample, the microstructure was fine ferrite and granular pearlite, ferrite equiaxed grains with fine grains at grain boundaries, and columnar ferrite, respectively. The average hardness in the vertical direction of samples 1# and 2# was 146 and 153 HV, respectively. The hardness of sample 2# increased because of the refinement of grain. The pores in the sample increased as the bypass current increased. The higher bypass current also has a deterioration effect on the corrosion behavior of ER50-6 steel.

Thrombotic occlusion of the coronary artery is a key component in the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemia and myocardial infarction (MI). The standard therapy for ischemia is revascularization and restoration of blood flow to previously ischemic myocardium. Paradoxically, reperfusion may result in further tissue damage called ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI). Platelets play a major role in the pathogenesis of MI and IRI, since they contribute to the thrombus and microthrombi formation, inflammation, release of immunomodulatory mediators, and vasoconstrictive molecules. Antiplatelet therapies have proven efficacy in the prevention of thrombosis and play a protective role in cardiac IRI. Beyond the deterioration effect of platelets in MI and IRI, in the 90s the first reports on a protective effect of molecules released from platelets during MI appeared. However, the role of platelets in cardioprotection is still poorly understood. This review describes the involvement of platelets in MI, IRI, and inflammation. It mainly focuses on the protective role of platelets in MI and IRI. Platelets are involved in cardioprotection based on platelet-releasing molecules and antiplatelet therapy, apart from antiaggregatory effects. Additionally, the use of platelet-derived microparticles as possible markers of MI, with and without comorbidities, and their role in cardioprotection are discussed. This review is aimed at illustrating the present knowledge on the role of platelets in MI and IRI, especially in a context of cardioprotection.

This paper addresses the two-machine permutation flowshop problem with deterioration. The objectives are minimizing the makespan and the average tardiness. Jobs have a baseline process time in each machine and have a due date. The actual time to process a job depends on the machine performance level at the start of each job, which is a function of the previously processed jobs and their wear/deterioration effect on the machine. The article proposes multiple heuristics and a comprehensive set of experiments.  The results indicate that as a group, the heuristics generate solutions that are very close to the optimal for both criteria. Furthermore, no heuristic approach is dominant for all experimental conditions, thus heuristic selection to solve practical problems should be based on the specific problem characteristics.

In this paper, a problem of scheduling jobs with different sizes and fuzzy processing times (FPT) on non-identical parallel batch machines to minimize makespan is investigated. Moreover, the processing time (PT) of each batch is subject to the location-based learning and total-PT-based deterioration effect. Since this is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem, an improved intelligent algorithm based on fruit fly optimization algorithm (IFOA) is proposed. To verify the performance of the algorithm, the IFOA is compared with three state-of-the-art algorithms. The comparative results demonstrate that the proposed IFOA outperforms the other compared algorithms.

Abstract Extreme ice-snow melting in winter affects the infiltration process of snow water on the slope surface significantly, and plays an important role in the deformation stability of landslide. The fluctuation trend of slope stability under ice-snow melting is the same as that of soil volume water content. The deterioration effect of mechanical parameters will directly affect the deformation stability of bank slope. Based on this, the ice-snow melting cycle model test of slope soil was designed and carried out. The results are showed.(1) We were established an ice-snow melting model based on physical process. In the process of ice-snow melting, the soil cohesion and internal friction Angle have obvious deterioration effect .The deterioration of cohesion is obviously larger than that of internal friction Angle. In the early part of the ice-snow melting cycle, the deterioration of shear strength parameters is very obvious. Among them, the deterioration of shear strength parameters caused by the first four ice-snow melting cycles accounted for about 70% of the total deterioration. After the G2/T2 ice-snow melting cycle, the degree of phase deterioration gradually decreases. The deterioration trend of shear parameters of soil samples gradually tends to be gentle. (2) In the ice-snow melting cycle, the inside of the soil samples have micro-cracks, fissures repeatedly opened and closed, gradually developed and converged. The result is that the soil samples change from dense state to loose state where internal cracks develop. The internal damage of soil samples is the fundamental reason for the gradual deterioration of shear strength.(3)We are keep to the relative independence principle of creep model and unsaturated seepage equation. We are studied and improved the parameter solving method of creep model. The modified model is reasonable and effective. The creep trend and main characteristics of the unsaturated soil can be described well. Shear strength deterioration effect and slope reliability analysis under extreme ice-snow melting conditions .It has important reference significance to the protection of extreme snow and ice disaster on the bank slope.
