Angela Carter’s The Magic Toyshop tells the story of the claustrophobic lives of six characters who find themselves stuck in the house of Uncle Philip, who demands absolute submission from them and who isolates them from the wider world. Uncle Philip acts like the Freudian Primordial Father who feels free to act in any way he likes disregarding any restrictions. By forcing the household members to work in his toyshop all day, he creates a solipsistic universe, which is cut off from the network of the symbolic in Lacanian terms. In this world, their living practice deviates from the norms of traditional discourse as there is incest between the siblings, or as they heavily engage in pre-or extra-linguistic representation of reality such as drawing, dancing, making music and toys. Aunt Margaret becomes dumb on her wedding night, or Uncle Philip does not send the siblings to school, which, in Lacanian terms, is a codifying space of the Law. For these reasons, Uncle Philip’s house embodies the heterogeneity of the imaginary residues rather than submission to the organising principles of the symbolic. Theirs becomes an alternative site of being to the one outside. This essay aims to explore the psychodynamics of the characters’ relations to one another, the unconventional intrasubjectivity created between them in this unconventional space and the implications of imaginary residues in their living practice using Lacanian ideas as my conceptual backcloth.

ABSTRACT Three alternative site-response models are developed, using two complementing predictors, accounting for both stiffness and depth effects. The analysis is based on a large database of velocity profiles and their associated calculated amplifications with respect to the local generic rock profile. The frequency of peak amplification—fpeak—is chosen to supplement VS30, after considering the predictability of eight different site proxies. The suggested models are continuous in terms of spectral periods as well as in terms of their predictor parameters—VS30 and fpeak. Model performance is evaluated in terms of the reduction in variability. For example, for a spectral period of T=0.5  s, using either one of the suggested models reduces the amplification variability from 0.4 to 0.18, whereas using VS30 alone reduces it only to 0.24. This improvement suggests that the addition of fpeak is a significant improvement in the midperiod range.

If history is narrative, then Ezra-Nehemiah is only partly history. Well over half of Ezra-Nehemiah is not a narrative but rather a patchwork of cited texts that are frequently intervening in the story. The capacity of citations in Ezra-Nehemiah to offend the historiographical, aesthetic, and theological sensibilities of scholars invites the question of what citation accomplishes in this context. This book labels the citation style in Ezra-Nehemiah as “archival historiography.” It argues that the act of citation in Ezra-Nehemiah forms an alternative site of archiving and this hybrid literary form prioritizes the assembly and organization of documents over the production of a seamless narrative. The argument begins by comparing this literary form with archival institutions and practices across the landscape of the ancient Near East, contending that Ezra-Nehemiah adapts the symbolic power of these ancient collections. It then identifies the role of the imperial archive within the narrative of Ezra-Nehemiah, where it surfaces as an axial and ambivalent source of political power. By reviewing the cited documents in Ezra-Nehemiah, this book argues that the act of citation is not solely or even primarily in the business of authorizing this account or symbolizing the fulfillment of prophetic promises. Rather, citation in Ezra-Nehemiah is aimed at reestablishing a community by organizing memory into retrievable texts. Archival historiography thus constitutes an essential act of communal recovery and represents the cultural vitality of the Judean community after the losses of exile and while living in the long shadow of imperial rule.

In order to investigate the effect of no tillage compared with the conventional cultivation and phosphorus fertilization (100, 200 and 300 kg ha-1) P2O5 to the weeds grown in the sunflower field variety Aqmar, a field trial was conducted at the experimental farm (alternative site of College of Agriculture- University of Baghdad) Abu- Ghraib during the spring and fall seasons of 2015. the experiment was carried –out by using R.C.B.D. with in split-split arrangement. The results revealed that un ploughed and un weedy treatments had the lowest means of the dry weight and seeds yield. The results, also revealed a significant increase in the weed density, weed dry weight, seeds yield and its components with the increasing of phosphorus fertilizer from 100 to 300 kg ha-1 in both seasons. It can be concluded, that growing sunflower with was reduced the weed density and its distribution in the field, and this caused to zero weed competition reduction to the crop and consequently increased the seeds yield and its components. However, increased phosphor fertilizer levels raised weeds density, their dry weight and seed yield of sunflower.

Introduction: Each economic and non-economic institute is inevitably forced to pay special attention  to the post-crisis phase to keep its organizational alive, carry out its missions, and reduce the damages and costs caused by various crises. In this research, we tried to extract the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) after the natural disaster of earthquake in the staff area of Water and Wastewater Company of Tehran within the localized framework of BS-25999 British Standards Institution (BSI). Method: In this regard, a questionnaire was used for data collection. Analysis of the questionnaire results was performed by SPSS19 and Expertchoice11 applications. Results: The manager of Water and Wastewater Company of  Tehran was found to be the best authority for managing the emergency so that the company can continue its operation and return to normal situation. According to the findings, the hot site was selected as the best location for business continuity of Water and Wastewater Company of Tehran, which could be an alternative site to continue the activities and services after the disaster. Conclusion: A localized post-earthquake Business Continuity Plan (BCP) was suggested in the staff area of Water and Wastewater Company of Tehran. In this site,  necessary actions can be perfromed to continue the activities before, during, and after the disaster. Furthermore, organizational chart and task description can be redefined in it.

PT. X will built a 3,000-m2 ready mix plant able to demand of X-Y highway contruction project. The built was planned in 3 alternative site: in Gempol—72.6km from the project site, in Purwosari—44.6km from project site, and in Singosari—53km from project site . The purpose of this study is: 1) to determine investment feasibility by technical aspect of each alternative site; 2) to determine investment feasibility by financial aspect based on feasibility parameters; 3) to determine the level of sensitivity of financial feasibilty by seeing the increase of materials and operational costs, the decrease of selling price and product demand.Technical feasibility was analyzed based on the result of questionnaires by calculating the percentage of each variable such as materials; man power; equipment; transportation; provision of water, electricity, and telephone line; and circumstances of social, environtment, community. The percantage of variable was of influential factor to choose the site by ranking method. Financial feasibility resulted from the cost of each site was analyzed based on feasibility parameter of Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PP). The last analysis was the sensitivity one to determine the level of sensitivity by seeing the increase of materials and operational costs, the decrease of selling price and product demand. The result of investment feasibility by technical aspect is feasible in Purwosari, Pasuruan District with a close range of raw materials; adequate availability of man power; adequate equipment; adequate transportation facilities; provision of water, electricity, and telephone lines; supporting from social, environtment, and community. The investment feasibility is financially feasible at NPV = IDR7,075,213,700; BCR = 1.047; IRR = 64.875%, and PP = 1,13 year. The result of sensitivity analysis shows that the PT. X is still able to adjust the 1%-8% tollerable increasing materials cost, 1%-7% increasing operational cost, 1%-6% decreasing selling price, and 1%-6% decreasing product demand. Keywords: BCR, feasibility, investment, IRR, NPV, PP, ready mix plant, sensitivity.
