The chapter presents a model and then describes its application in a real business case. It highlights the critical challenges in this blockchain implementation and the potentials of blockchain in managing sustainable procurement in support of utilities. This blockchain application is for smart metering. The blockchain solution contributes to the three bottom lines: economic, social, and sustainable. The Sustainable Development Goals have become the UN's global goals in the 2015 to 2030 time frame. To achieve these goals, Indonesia has designated a National Roadmap for Sustainable Development Goals in Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2017. The Presidential Regulation serves as a guideline for Ministries or Agencies in National Actions Plans on Sustainable Development Goals in their respective domains. Including in the Public Procurement of Goods/Services has been fostered to increase sustainable procurement. This Systematic Literature Review has been looking for research evidence to reveal the contribution of e-procurement in the Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia for the last decade. The evidence has been systematically collected by following the SLR protocol from the indexing Portal Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital) specific for published articles in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the international research on sustainable procurement has been ongoing since 2001; the review here shows that there has not been much research on sustainable procurement in Indonesia. The results of this review offer a future research agenda for sustainable procurement in Indonesia.

PurposeBig data is relevant to the supply chain, as it provides analytics tools for decision-making and business intelligence. Supply Chain 4.0 and big data are necessary for organisations to handle volatile, dynamic and global value networks. This paper aims to investigate the mediating role of “big data analytics” between Supply Chain 4.0 business performance and nine performance factors.Design/methodology/approachA two-stage hybrid model of statistical analysis and artificial neural network analysis is used for analysing the data. Data gathered from 321 responses from 40 Indian manufacturing organisations are collected for the analysis.FindingsStatistical analysis results show that performance factors of organisational and top management, sustainable procurement and sourcing, environmental, information and product delivery, operational, technical and knowledge, and collaborative planning have a significant effect on big data adoption. Furthermore, the results were given to the artificial neural network model as input and results show “information and product delivery” and “sustainable procurement and sourcing” as the two most vital predictors of big data adoption.Research limitations/implicationsThis study confirms the mediating role of big data for Supply Chain 4.0 in manufacturing organisations of developing countries. This study guides to formulate management policies and organisation vision about big data analytics.Originality/valueFor the first time, the impact of big data on Supply Chain 4.0 is discussed in the context of Indian manufacturing organisations. The proposed hybrid model intends to evaluate the mediating role of big data analytics to enhance Supply Chain 4.0 business performance.

Purpose This paper aims to evaluate the adoption of sustainable procurement practices adopted by Brazilian manufacturing companies in supplier selection; additionally, it is aimed to understand which of these practices enable a better differentiation of the analysed companies. Design/methodology/approach A systematic literature review was performed to compose the theoretical base of this research. In addition, a detailed study of ISO 20400 standard was conducted. The guidelines of ISO 20400 were used as a base to structure a questionnaire used in a survey with professionals working in procurement sphere of manufacturing companies in Brazil. The data were analysed via frequency and CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) method. Findings A moderate dispersion in the adoption level of sustainable procurement practices in supplier selection process of the manufacturing companies was observed; in practices associated with social aspects, the dispersion is greater. A negative issue to be highlighted is that almost 20% of analysed companies did not even considered in their supplier selection process if their candidates accomplish philanthropic activities, generate jobs in local community and fulfill the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of United Nations (UN). Those two last practices are the ones with the best capacity to differ the companies in the sample. Originality/value There are few studies that focuses on understanding the adoption of sustainable procurement practices in manufacturing companies' supplier selection process. The main contribution of this study to the literature is to evidence that social requirements in supplier selection process are considered in a clear and well-structured form only by few Brazilian manufacturing companies. Despite the sample size, companies analysed in this research are prominent organisations in manufacturing sector. Thus, if this situation occurs in these companies, a more critical scenario will be evidenced in other organisations. This study has implication for practice and academy. For companies' managers, information present here can be used to debate the theme in the organisational context and the nine practices and scale can be used to perform a critical analysis of company's practices. For researchers, the information present here can be used as starting point for futures studies.
