Les Soixante-quinze Feuillets by Marcel Proust or the production of the mask In Search of Lost Time, the narrator is not the writer, and we can find out several models behind one character. In other words, Proust created a mask he put on reality to avoid criticism and problems with his family, but also to look for the essence of beings and things by focusing the truth. Pseudonyms are not a game but a real poetic of the Name. The recent publication of his Soixante-quinze Feuillets (Gallimard, 2021) shows how Proust transformed his autobiography into a fictional world. That preliminary version exposes the methods he used to hide himself and the way he was experimenting the powers of the imagination and composition. It is the writer’s laboratory, an important source for genetic study of Proust’s masterpiece.

Cellphone usage has a significant impact on signalized intersections' capacity and level of service. This study investigated the impact of cellphone usage on signalized intersection capacity and level of service in Dammam Metropolitan Area, Saudi Arabia. The data included 183 useful cycles and 2407 start-up lost time and average saturation headway values at cycles with cellphone usage and cycles without cellphone usage at 24 signalized intersections. The main hypothesis of the study is that cellphone usage increases the start-up lost time at signalized intersection capacity. The secondary hypothesis is that cellphone usage increases the average saturation headway at signalized intersections. Normal distribution and z-test were conducted to assess whether there is a significant increase in average saturation headway and start-up lost time. The study found a significant increase in start-up lost time of about 0.7 seconds but found no significant increase in average saturation headway due to cellphone usage. Also, start-up lost time increases as vehicles of cellphone users get closer to the stop line of the signalized intersections. Thus, cellphone usage decreases the progression of 13 vehicles per hour due to a reduction in effective green time, increases total delay, and deteriorates the level of service. The study can assist transportation and traffic officials to optimize signal operation to mitigate the impact of cellphone usage and improve urban transportation.

Improvement between departments within the company requires a mutually supportive system so that cooperation occurs between interrelated departments. This requires effort and commitment that needs to be supported by related share holders so that the occurrence of lost time during the production process can be minimized so that the planned time runs effectively and efficiently in increasing productivity. The difficulty in supervising and controlling the production process is the reason for knowing the abnormality in the process of replacing the dies and controlling the process of replacing printing equipment or dies for the Stamping process still using a manual system and the process recording system still using paper that is prone to loss and is engineered irresponsibly . The method used to create an electronic Dies replacement monitoring system by collecting problem data, comparing manual systems with several experiments and testing tools, using IoT in the form of PLC, HDMI as a tool for online communication. The DIMS monitoring system can be used to monitor and provide initial information when there is a request for the Dies replacement process so that replacement requests and needs in the process can be carried out immediately because they can be detected early.

Abstract: A high-performance network is a necessary component of any company's IT infrastructure. All operations, including internal and external communication across different corporate sites, as well as communication with clients and partners, should operate smoothly to enable smooth business activities. Failures and malfunctions in operational procedures can easily result in lost time and money. In order to maintain track of the availability, performance, and bandwidth utilization in an IT network, network monitoring software that continuously monitors operations in the network, does analysis, and warns IT workers as soon as an error happens or critical values are surpassed is highly recommended. If the administrator is not on site, network monitoring allows him or her to intervene swiftly, even if he or she is not there. Of course, each firm has unique requirements for a network monitoring solution, and with so many tools and solutions on the market, careful selection of an appropriate solution is essential. This paper discusses the different alternatives that a network solution can provide provided the appropriate criteria are taken into account during the decision-making process. Keywords: Network, Network Monitoring Tools, IT infrastructure, Open Source

Background: The coronavirus 2019 pandemic has led to restructuring of health care systems and has subsequently had secondary effects on medical education. This study examines the impact on training of surgical residents in Canada. Methods: The study consisted of a 25-question survey for residents and a 22-question survey for program directors, which were distributed electronically through program administrators on July 3rd- July 11th, 2020. Questions sought to elicit residents’ current experiences and gain insight into methods by which to enhance future training. Results: 108 residents and 21 program directors, from various surgical specialties across Canada, completed the survey. Operative exposures were reported to be reduced by 25-100% and 39% of residents were redeployed. However, 89% of residents reported accessing academic half days virtually and 57% had additional online modules. Despite lost time, 100% of program directors confirmed that residents did not require training extensions. Concerns regarding training, personal health, employability and fellowships were raised. 55-70% of residents and program directors advocated for alternative educational courses, increasing elective time, utilizing simulation for assessment and flexibility in crediting different training experiences. Conclusions: Canadian surgical residents had a significant reduction in operative experiences during the pandemic. Moving forward, it will be important to find alternative educational experiences.

This article is devoted to the stylistic and cognitive analysis of the legal vocabulary in the third volume of Marcel Proust’s novel “In Search of Lost Time” used in order to describe mental, psychological and cultural world of Guermantes in its contrast with the world of bourgeoisie and with that of French peasants. The legal terms we consider in the paper are used by Proust as core components of a number of stylistic figures, first of all, similes and metaphors. Following Gérard Cornu and some other scholars, we understand legal terminology (legal terms and legal vocabulary in general) as any word of language (in our case, those of French) having at least one legal meaning, acknowledged by an authoritative French dictionary. The legal terms identified in the text were classified into two groups: general legal vocabulary and specific legal vocabulary belonging to different branches of law: constitutional, criminal, international. In order to confirm their legal semantics while conducting contextual analysis, we have consulted all types of diction-aries: bilingual, monolingual, general and special ones. The main aim of the article was to determine the functions of these figures in Marcel Proust’s text whose poetics is not at all legal. To achieve it, the main task was to identify the connections between the denotative meaning of a given term and its connotative contextual transformations. This means first of all to decode contextual links between the legal figure under analysis and various domains of life it was applied to by Proust. Eventually, this analysis helps to reveal French cultural codes, those of declining aristocracy, empowered bourgeoisie and, in “Guermantes”, of peasantry. Thus, the Guermantes are associated in the eyes of the bourgeoisie, represented by Marcel, with something ancient, inaccessible to rational minds, charming: some sublime images, magical legends of ancient times, exquisite works of art and music, antique music instruments. In this context, a legal term, such as carte photographique d’identité for instance, introduces, by contrast, some materially-minded, pragmatic, prosaic notes. At the same time, democratic changes leading to the rise of the bourgeoisie, as well as the world of peasants are depicted in an extremely concrete way, being associated with the untamed force of nature: damage and devastation caused by the floods, noises, and the like. At the same time, various typical human feelings, such as Marcel’s admiration and Saint-Loup’s love due to the use of legal figures may be represented as imprisonment.

In the increasingly uncertain future conditions, because the lost time cannot be recovered, the only one within reach remains the future. Thus, defence planning is about planning for an uncertain future, about reducing the level of uncertainty, or about increasing the level of tolerance for uncertainty. Therefore, we consider that it is time to move on to prospective planning, to the management components reprioritization, with an emphasis on foresight, especially as we observe the security environment new specifics, in order to choose, develop and maintain those capabilities to meet current and future challenges. In this article we will analyze all these aspects, in an attempt to highlight the fact that the efficient integration of those elements, which lead to obtaining and maintaining optimal capabilities, must represent a synergistic action in order to increase the effectiveness of military actions.
