To have a positive impact on students’ development of crucial skills, blended university courses need careful planning to fruitfully integrate learning settings as well as methodologies. The authors adopted Design-Based Research to design a blended university course based on the Trialogical Learning Approach, and then to redesign it according to the learning outputs and the overall learner’s experience. The first iteration of the course (a.y. 2015) was followed by an observational study that aimed to identify student perceptions of (1) the impact of the course on the acquisition of the targeted knowledge–work skills and (2) strengths and areas for improvement to be considered when re-designing the subsequent edition. A total of 109 students participated in the two editions of the course under scrutiny in this research. The data corpus included students’ self-report questionnaires investigating the development of specific knowledge–work skills and focus group interviews that explored students’ perceptions. The data showed this blended course had a generally positive impact on students’ perception of acquisition of skills and knowledge, which increased between one edition and the next. This positive impact seemed to correspond with course refinements made by the teacher and with the activities that received greater attention in the second edition of the course.

Abstract The discovery and subsequent edition of the only known sixteenth-century Spanish translation of The Praise of Folly (which should now be dated ca. 1532–1535) put into question the notion that Erasmus was almost exclusively received as a doctrinal author in sixteenth-century Spain. To bolster this argument, these pages examine the 1536 Spanish translation of Alberto Pio’s Tres et viginti libri locos lucubrationum variarum D. Erasmi Roterodami. Though this translation was not unknown to scholars, none realized that book IV, part 1 included a partial translation, paraphrase, and commentary of the Praise of Folly. Once recognized, this translation allows us more accurately to date the Moria de Erasmo and in turn demands an explanation of why Pio’s lengthy text was translated into Spanish. Moreover, this material helps to explain what texts the Spanish censors had in mind when referring to the “Moria of Erasmus in romance, Latin, and any other language.”

The article provides information on the distribution of 38 species of vascular plants in the Kemerovo region that were not reflected in the second edition of the regional Red book. These data were obtained in the processing of herbarium collections compiled in 1969 – 2012 by teaching staff and students of the Kemerovo State University. As a result, 96 unknown localities of protected plants were revealed. More than 2/3 of herbarium specimens clarify the distribution of species in the administrative regions listed in the regional Red book, and the rest were collected outside. Only a small portion of the finds were confirmed by later compilations, data on the remaining locations do not exist, population monitoring in these localities was nit conducted. In this regard, to use the received information in a subsequent edition of the Kemerovo region Red book, it is necessary to conduct additional exploration of the territories, clarifying the fact of preservation of the populations and assessment of their condition.

This paper, the first in a pair, describes the development and use of a research tool designed to not only derive the “usual” research patterns from analysis and synthesis of data, but also to extend that research outcome into useful lessons and instructions for others to act on in the non-research world. Research is essentially about finding and explaining patterns to help us understand phenomena and to measure similarities and differences. Pattern also has other useful attributes – as tools, templates, and instructive advices – that tend not to be given as much attention in research. The tool discussed in this paper seeks an easy-to-use “close fit” between these two uses of pattern. It enabled maximum engagement by the research participants, in-depth exploration of the area between the abstract (theory) and the concrete (practice) of the issue at hand, and development of useful instructive advices for others to use. It comprises an original design that can be adapted for use in other research with similar aims. A second paper, in a subsequent edition of The Qualitative Report, describes the development of the subsequent “pattern language” of instructive advices.

The purpose of this chapter is to provide an historical understanding of the conceptualization and diagnosis of personality disorders, beginning with the first edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s diagnostic manual, and proceeding through each subsequent edition. The chapter concludes with an overview of the issues and concerns with regard to the forthcoming, fifth edition.

El contenido de las fuentes antiguas, su transcripción y correspondiente edición ha llevado, ya desde el siglo XVIII, a que los paleógrafos y diplomatistas hayan tenido una preocupación prioritaria en el establecimiento de normas que fijasen la publicación de las citadas fuentes con el máximo rigor En este trabajo hemos estudiado en sus diferentes aspectos las propuestas de normas españolas, comenzando por la evolución cronológica y el ámbito donde se fijaron, para continuar con el análisis pormenorizado de los aspectos más relevantes de las citadas normas: Formación y ordenación de las colecciones diplomáticas; Estructura de la edición y contenido de sus partes: fecha, resumen, aparato crítico, notas históricas y disertación crítica; El texto: normas para su transcripción; Presentación de la edición: cuerpo y tamaño de la letra y, por último, apéndices e índices. Como conclusión destacaríamos que el particularismo de las numerosas por detalles secundarios que, sin embargo, efectan al conjunto de la edición por lo que proponemos seguir las normas de la Commision Internationale de Diplomatique.The content of the ancient sources, their transcription and their subsequent edition, has led paleographs and diplomatists, since the xviiith Century, to give a priority to fix the rules of the publication of the above mentioned sources with the máximum rigour. In this report we have studied in their differents aspects, the spanish rules proposals, starting with the evolution and environment where they were fixed, and continuing with a detailed analysis of the most relevant points of the mentioned rules: Formation and ordering of the diplomatic collections; Edition structure and content of its parts: date, summary, critycal apparatus, historie notes and critic dissertation; The text: Transcription rules; Edition appearance: Word typography and size, appendixes and indexes. As a conclusión, we could underline that the singularity of the high number of the spanish rules is generally based in secondary details, although affecting the edition as a whole, so we propose to follow the rules of the International Diplomatique Commission.

Some years ago Ed Freeman and William Evan wrote an article offering a Kantian stakeholder theory of corporate responsibility. Ed was kind enough to allow Tom Beauchamp and me to publish that previously unpublished piece in the second edition of Ethical Theory and Business. That article has appeared in every subsequent edition. But a Kantian theory of stakeholder relationships is not, I believe, a complete Kantian theory of the modem corporation. I believe Ed originally intended to expand that paper into a larger project but Ed’s philosophical interest in pragmatism has distanced him from Kantianism and his writings in stakeholder theory have gone in a different direction. Indeed in this postmodem feminist anti-foundationalist age, Kant is very much out of fashion. Since I am always out of fashion I had no trouble promising Ed I would complete the Kantian piece of the project. This essay is the condensed version and a partial fulfillment of my promise. A Kantian always keeps his promises.
