In this study, it is aimed to determine the reasons for choosing private schools in the education process according to the views of the parents of students studying in primary and secondary education institutions in TRNC. The effects of the physical conditions of the school, educational activities, artistic-sports-social and cultural activities, management and academic staff characteristics, communication processes and economic resources were examined. In the research, survey model, one of the descriptive research methods, was used. Parents of 7355 students studying at private schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Primary Education and General Secondary Education constituted the research universe of this study. Parents of 242 students studying in Nicosia, Famagusta, Güzelyurt and Kyrenia constituted the sample group of this study. The unit of analysis in the research is the parents of the students. The Private School Preference Criteria questionnaire used in this study was developed by Pulat (2019). The scale consists of a total of 41 items. The data collected with the help of scales in the study were analyzed with the statistical methods "Correlation", "Regression", "Kruskal-Wallis H" and "Mann-Whitney U". The most important reasons for parents to enroll their children in private schools are their belief that they will receive a good education in English, their belief that they will receive a better education in general, and the availability of full-time education as working parents.   Keywords: Private School, Parent, Parent Preference Attitudes, Primary School, Secondary School

AbstractCritical heart disease in the pediatric population is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Research around the most effective communication and decision-making strategies is lacking. This systematic review aims to summarise what is known about parent preference for communication and decision-making in children with critical heart disease. Database searches included key words such as family, pediatric heart disease, communication, and decision-making. A total of 10 studies fit our inclusion criteria: nine were qualitative studies with parent interviews and one study was quantitative with a parent survey. We found three main themes regarding physician–parent communication and decision-making in the context of paediatric heart disease: (1) amount, timing, and content of information provided to parents; (2) helpful physician characteristics and communication styles; and (3) reinforcing the support circle for families.

Management of vesicoureteral reflux may involve a period of observation while the patient is on continuous antibiotic prophylaxis while awaiting spontaneous resolution. There are several indications for surgical correction that include non-resolution after a period of observation, parent preference, or breakthrough infections while on antibiotic prophylaxis, just to name a few. Endoscopic injection for correction of vesicoureteral reflux is an effective, minimally invasive method of treatment. Successful treatment is dependent on surgical technique, with a success rate of 77 to 94% with the double hydrodistension implantation technique (HIT) and uniform endpoints of injection. We aim to describe the double HIT technique for endoscopic injection along with tips and tricks for a successful result.     This review contains 10 figures, 5 tables and 26 references Keywords: Vesicoureteral reflux, minimally invasive, febile urinary tract infection, voiding cystourethrogram, deflux, dextranomer/hyaluronic acid, children, cystoscopy, pyelonephritis, endoscopy

Lack of adherence with vitamin D supplementation is still a risk factor for rickets. In a randomized cross-over design, infants received 400 IU cholecalciferol by dropper (1 mL syrup) or filmstrip. Infant and parent preference scores and adherence were then compared. Forty-three parents of healthy infants preferred the filmstrip (85.4% of parents; 95% confidence interval of 70.1%–93.9%; p < 0.001), a result that was corroborated by higher infant and parental scores and compliance. Ease of administration of supplements with improved acceptance may improve adherence.
