Multifit/Polydefixis an open source IDL software package for the efficient processing of diffraction data obtained in deformation apparatuses at synchrotron beamlines.Multifitallows users to decompose two-dimensional diffraction images into azimuthal slices, fit peak positions, shapes and intensities, and propagate the results to other azimuths and images.Polydefixis for analysis of deformation experiments. Starting from output files created inMultifitor other packages, it will extract elastic lattice strains, evaluate sample pressure and differential stress, and prepare input files for further texture analysis. TheMultifit/Polydefixpackage is designed to make the tedious data analysis of synchrotron-based plasticity, rheology or other time-dependent experiments very straightforward and accessible to a wider community.

Bedsore is a common disease for long-term bedridden patients, electronic treatment instruments can effectively prevent the occurrence of bedsore. In this paper, stress sensor and micro-controller are used to sample pressure signal of each part of the body and send the signal to PC by RS232.LabVIEW virtual instrument is designed to analyze the measure pressure data, and estimate the state of every parts of the human body that have been continuously pressed. Then the LabVIEW instrument will send control signals to the corresponding pumps of the mattress. This instrument can prevent human skins being pressed too long in part areas.

An expression for the variation of the refractive index of diamond with density is determined. This is used to show consistency between Brillouin scattering results obtained at atmospheric pressure and more recent direct measurements of the refractive index under hydrostatic pressure to 40 GPa. The stress distribution at the diamond anvil tip is then computed and the variation of the refractive index at the tip of the anvil is obtained. The refractive index at the tip is a slowly decreasing function of the sample pressure.

Synthetic gray-blue diamonds were used as anvils in a diamond anvil cell to produce a pressure of 125 GPa (1.25 Mbar) in a gasketed sample. Pressure was measured by x-ray diffraction methods by using gold and iron as a calibrant and also by optical methods based on the shift of the fluorescence peaks of ruby with pressure. The future potential of synthetic diamonds for ultrapressure research is discussed.
