Background: It is important to quantify class II malocclusion for proper diagnosis of the case and adjusted treatment will aid in successful correction of malocclusion. Hence, the study will aid for proper treatment planning by classifying class II malocclusion established on the amount of overjet, overbite, distance and relation of maxillary and mandibular first molar and the relationship of canine and molar. Objectives: To grade Class II malocclusion in form of overjet and overbite. Materials and Methods: Patients visiting Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Sharad Pawar Dental College, Wardha, having class II malocclusion will be chosen. The chi square test, student's paired and unpaired t test, and descriptive and inferential statistics will be used in the statistical analysis. Expected Results: The outcome after conduction of the study is expected to have more patients with Type 1 overjet and Type B overbite kind of Class II malocclusion. Conclusion: The establishment of this new classification will aid in concise analysis and proper treatment planning of Class II malocclusion thereby enhancing the esthetics and functional stability for the patient comfort.

Treating Class III malocclusion is a challenge for orthodontists. It is best to treat it at growing stage with Dentofacial Orthopedics. Alt-RAMEC protocol was introduced by Liou in the year 2005. It allows for sutural mobilisation by opening and closing the RME screw for 7-9 weeks. Maxillary protraction after the use of Alt-Ramec protocol is an efficient method for early treatment skeletal Class III malocclusion. The objective of this review is to explain to the clinicians a modified and efficient method for treatment of skeletal Class III malocclusion in growing patients.

Introduction: Nocturnal breathing problems have become more common and cause problems during the day for both those affected by this condition and those around them. These problems are caused in most cases by a decrease in the size of the pharyngeal posterior space, which is associated with various abnormalities of the facial skeleton, and the positioning of the tongue. Purpose: The present study has the purpose to determine the existence of a correlation between different facial skeletal abnormalities and the size of the pharyngeal posterior space. Materials and methods: In the present study we performed the analysis of 131 teleradiographs from the database of the department of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics within UMFST “Târgu Mureș” performed on patients in order to perform an orthodontic treatment. Patients range in age from 10 to 21 years. Results: To observe the existence of a link between the median differences in values in the lower pharyngeal space between class I and class II, we used the Mann-Whitney U test to compare median values. Thus, the median value in class I is 0, while the median value in class II is 0.3. It was concluded that this difference is statistically significant (p = 0.02). Conclusion: Patients with skeletal class II have smaller dimensions of the lower pharyngeal space than patients with class I and class III. Patients with skeletal class II have an increased risk compared to those with class I or class III of developing obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome during their lifetime.

Objective: Ectodermal dysplasia (ED) comprises multiple syndromes that affect skin, hair, nails, and teeth, and sometimes are associated with orofacial clefting. The purpose of this study is to (1) identify the prevalence and characteristics of cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) in patients with ED and (2) describe the management and outcomes. Design: Retrospective review from 1990 to 2019. Patients: All patients with ED treated at Boston Children's Hospital. Main Outcomes Measures: Prevalence of CL/P was calculated and clinical details recorded: phenotypic anomalies, cleft type, operative treatment, and results of repair. Results: Of 170 patients with a purported diagnosis of ED, 24 (14%) had CL/P. Anatomic categories were bilateral CL/P (67%), unilateral CL/P (8%), and cleft palate only (25%). The most common ED syndrome (37%) was ectrodactyly, ectodermal dysplasia, and cleft lip/palate (EEC). Pathogenic variants in TP63 were the most frequent finding in the 11 patients who had genetic testing. Aberrations from a typical clinical course included failure of presurgical dentofacial orthopedics, dehiscence of nasolabial adhesion, and total palatal absence requiring free-flap construction. Two patients had prolonged postoperative admission for respiratory infection. High fistula (8%) and velopharyngeal insufficiency (33%) rates reflected the predominance of bilateral complete forms. Conclusions: As in other types of syndromic CL/P, cleft phenotypic expression in ED is more severe than the general cleft population. Further studies are needed to correlate genotype and phenotype for the distinct syndromes included in the ED spectrum.
