Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging architecture that decouples the network control and forwarding functions. In SDN, the functionality of static configuration and routing table in a traditional network has been replaced by forwarding table entries (FTEs). Thus a systematic research on FTE to better monitor traffic and manage networking resources becomes crucial in SDN. There are already some initial works on FTE representation from mathematical/logical perspective. However, they usually concentrate on the abstraction and expression of FTE rather than the applications in real network. Based on existing research, a controller is unable to monitor networking traffic and manage networking resources from a network-wide perspective. To address these challenges, Boolean algebra is chosen and extended in this thesis to examine the relations and manipulations among FTEs together with traffic statistics. Specifically, three SDN applications: i) equivalence evaluation during FTE deployment, ii) non-invasive traffic estimation and iii) anomaly detection, have been proposed and verified with the help of Boolean algebra. All of these applications rely on the mining of the FTEs and their associated statistics, thus no overhead will be introduced to the switch's original packet forwarding functionalities. They can be easily deployed in production networks due to the non-invasive strategy as well as the feasibility and flexibility in real networking scenarios.

This study attempts to understand how collaborative management could enhance and improve organizational leadership and elicit resilient behaviors. Thus, collaboration and resilience are basic characteristics that can help any organization surmount unpredictably challenging situations, and even thrive in the process. A systematic review was used in which relevant theories were examined in line with this objective. It was found that; cultivating, developing, and refining collaborative efforts in organizational leadership, employee-employer relationships, and organizational success are key factors in the pursuit and actualization of predetermined organizational objectives. This outcome demonstrates that leading successfully in an unpredictable and change-prone environment is a huge task. Hence, for organizational leadership to survive and thrive, it has to develop the capacity to be adaptive, swiftly recover from setbacks, maintain relatively stable and functional health, and harness all its resources to remain in business. Therefore, an organization that collaborates on several fronts will create a resilient spirit to face and surmount unpredictably challenging situations if/when they arise. Thus, organizations that intend to succeed in this regard must promote cohesion, diversity, interdependence, inclusion, and social support through enthusiastic and enterprising capabilities.

Image-to-image translation is used to convert an image of a certain style to another of the target style with the original content preserved. A desired translator should be capable of generating diverse results in a controllable many-to-many fashion. To this end, we design a novel deep translator, namely exemplar-domain aware image-to-image translator (EDIT for short). From a logical perspective, the translator needs to perform two main functions, i.e., feature extraction and style transfer. With consideration of logical network partition, the generator of our EDIT comprises of a part of blocks configured by shared parameters, and the rest by varied parameters exported by an exemplar-domain aware parameter network, for explicitly imitating the functionalities of extraction and mapping. The principle behind this is that, for images from multiple domains, the content features can be obtained by an extractor, while (re-)stylization is achieved by mapping the extracted features specifically to different purposes (domains and exemplars). In addition, a discriminator is equipped during the training phase to guarantee the output satisfying the distribution of the target domain. Our EDIT can flexibly and effectively work on multiple domains and arbitrary exemplars in a unified neat model. We conduct experiments to show the efficacy of our design, and reveal its advances over other state-of-the-art methods both quantitatively and qualitatively.

We suggest that momentum should be redened in order to help make physics more consistent and more logical. In this paper, we propose that there is a rest-mass momentum, a kinetic momentum, and a total momentum. This leads directly to a simpler relativistic energy momentum relation. As we point out, it is the Compton wavelength that is the true wavelength for matter; the de Broglie wavelength is mostly a mathematical artifact. This observation also leads us to a new relativistic wave equation and a new and likely better QM. Better in terms of being much more consistent and simpler to understand from a logical perspective.

Abstract In this paper I present four interpretations of so-called negative theology and provide a number of attempts to model this theory within a formal system. Unfortunately, all of them fail in some manner. Most of them are simply inconsistent, some contradict the usual religious praxis and discourse, and some do not correspond to the key theses of negative theology. I believe that this paper shows how challenging this theory is from a logical perspective.

AbstractIn this paper, I consider the role of perspective in Hegel’s metaphysics, and in particular the role that multiple perspectives play within the ultimate structure in Hegel’s metaphysics, which Hegel calls ‘the idea [die Idee]’. My (somewhat anachronistic) way into this topic will be to inquire about Hegel’s stance on what Adrian Moore has called ‘absolute representations’. I argue for the claim that perspective is maintained, even in the absolute idea, which generates the task of understanding the nature of that perspective and its compatibility with absoluteness. I attempt to accomplish this task by asking what a logical perspective could be, and how it might be related to visual perspective. Then I inquire into the relation that perspectives have to each other, i.e., to the system of perspectives. I construe those relations in reciprocal and dynamic terms, so that absoluteness takes the form of a structured round of perspectives rather than a relation to reality ‘once and for all’.

Depiction verbs such as paint license i(mage)- and p(ortrait)-readings; for instance,Ben painted a cow can convey that Ben produced an image of an unspecific cow or a portrait ofa specific cow. This paper takes issue with a property-based intensional analysis of depictionverbs (Zimmermann, 2006b, 2016) and instead argues for an extensional account. Accordingly, the i-reading is rooted in the introduction of worldly representations by the explicit noun cowas such, whereas the p-reading is rooted in the interpolation of an implicit representation viacoercion. This take on the ambiguity captures the following key traits. On i-readings, only representationsare accessible to quantifiers and anaphors; moreover, intensional effects such assubstitution failure disappear once ordinary objects and representations are adequately distinguished.P-readings, by contrast, involve representations that depend on the portrayed ordinaryobjects as particulars; correspondingly, only ordinary objects are accessible to quantifiers andanaphors. The proposal is spelled out in Asher’s (2011) Type Composition Logic. Keywords: depiction verbs, visual representations, intensional transitives, coercion, TypeComposition Logic.
