AbstractSeveral and repeated attempts have been made to say what objectivity consists of and why it should be pursued in research. In the first part of this paper two main strategies are singled out, sharing the assumption that there is a way (or different ways) objectivity can be thought of in the abstract (which does not mean without content), and that it can be instantiated in context—and in enough contexts to justify the abstract case. But not only is this assumption open to the objection that objectivity so conceived does not admit of one clear definition (even a disjunctive one) that is appropriate in many or most contexts where we intend the term to do its work. It also does not seem to pay specific attention to what actually constitutes a context of practice, when we think of objectivity in some relation to such context. The aim of this paper is to question how context works both as a mechanism of meaning formation for the concept of objectivity, and as a practical framework for pursuing research objectively. To articulate a suitable notion of context some insight from recent literature in the philosophy of science is first introduced and then adapted to show how research practices successfully achieve objectivity as one of their aims. It will be argued that an idea of context that includes activities which (in a way to be qualified) are relevant and reliable towards a settled aim is the model of practice that makes objectivity a pursuable task in research. This contextual picture of objectivity, it will be suggested, might better serve the purpose of scientific research (including social research) than either of the two descriptive strategies outlined at the beginning of this paper can do.

A 5-month-old, male, indoor-outdoor domestic shorthair cat from Mexico City with cough, tachypnea and respiratory distress. Thoracic radiographs revealed a generalized unstructured interstitial pattern. Diagnostic and interpretation. Diagnosis of Aelurostrongylus abstrusus was obtained by observing larvae in a tracheobronchial lavage sample and corroborated through Baermann funnel technique.Treatment and clinical response. The chosen treatment scheme was doxycycline at 5 mg/kg orally every 12 h for 15 days; fenbendazole 50 mg/kg with pyrantel pamoate 20 mg/kg and praziquantel 5 mg/kg orally every 24 h for 3 consecutive days; prednisolone at 1 mg/kg oral every 12 h reduction dose over 15 days; omeprazole at 1.25 mg/kg orally every 12 h for 10 days and topical imidacloprid 10% and moxidectin 1% pippete at fourth day of treatment. The patient had clinical improvement.Laboratory tests. The patient improvement was corroborated by the radiographic studies on days 37 and 143 of evolution and in the coproparasitoscopic study, by serial Baermann technique, negative on day 53 and 143 of evolution.Clinical relevance. This is the second case report of Aelurostrongylus abstrusus in domestic cats in Mexico, happening in a different city from the first case.

Clinical cases referred of shockwave therapy of equine hospital UNAM (2011-2015) Abstract Case report. From 2011 to 2015, out of 1292 patients 232 we referend to the hospital for equine of the Departamento de Medicina Cirugía y Zootecnia de Équidos of the Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia for shockwave therapy (ESWT) were analyzed. This therapy was applicated 323 in 232 patients, 86 % of the patients are warmblood prototype and an average age of eleven years.Clinical findings. The pathology with the highest incidence was proximal desmitis of the suspensory ligament or third interosseous ligament, followed by dorsal myositis and ringbone.Treatment and evolution. The treatment was carried out by focal shock wave therapy and radial pressure therapy.Laboratory test. The laboratory test it is not necessary because the ESWT is not an invasive therapy.Clinical relevance. The ESWT represents 17.9% of the total number of patients admitted in this study period. An average of 46 patients per year were received, for ESWT. A study of total clinical cases of the hospital for equine would be required to compare the causes of origin. Keywords: SWT, Shock wave, Equine, ESWT, physical therapy.

The phenomenon of case has been studied widely at both the descriptive and theoretical levels. Typological work on morphological case systems has provided a picture of the variability of case cross-linguistically. In particular, languages may differ with respect to whether or not arguments are marked with overt morphological case, the inventory of cases with which they may be marked, and the alignment of case marking (e.g., nominative-accusative vs. ergative-absolutive). In the theoretical realm, not only has morphological case been argued to play a role in multiple syntactic phenomena, but current generative work also debates the role of abstract case (i.e., Case) in the grammar: abstract case features have been proposed to underlie morphological case, and to license nominals in the derivation. The phenomenon of case has been argued to play a role in at least three areas of the syntax reviewed here: (a) agreement, (b) A-movement, and (c) A’-movement. Morphological case has been shown to determine a nominal argument’s eligibility to participate in verbal agreement, and recent work has argued that languages vary as to whether movement to subject position is case-sensitive. As for case-sensitive A’-movement, recent literature on ergative extraction restrictions debates whether this phenomenon should be seen as another instance of “case discrimination” or whether the pattern arises from other properties of ergative languages. Finally, other works discussed here have examined agreement and A’-extraction patterns in languages with no visible case morphology. The presence of patterns and typological gaps—both in languages with overt morphological case and in those without it—lends support to the relevance of abstract case in the syntax.

Case parameters determine, directly or indirectly, many aspects of grammatical-function realization, change, and alignment. The classic example of a grammatical-function-changing operation is the passive, and this is the initial focus of this chapter. The chapter next looks at various kinds of ergative alignment, and then other grammatical-function-changing operations: causatives and ditransitives. For each construction-type—passives, ergatives, causatives, and ditransitives—a parameter hierarchy is proposed. Finally, the chapter considers the question of Case macroparameters and assesses the recent proposals that languages may altogether lack abstract Case. Here it speculates about the reasons behind the apparent requirement for Case and/or nominal licensing.

The paper is the contribution to quantum toposophy focusing on the abstract orthomodular structures (following Dunn-Moss-Wang terminology). Early quantum toposophical approach to "abstract quantum logic" was proposed based on the topos of functors $\mathsf{[E,Sets]}$ where $\mathsf{E}$ is a so-called orthomodular preorder category – a modification of categorically rewritten orthomodular lattice (taking into account that like any lattice it will be a finite co-complete preorder category). In the paper another kind of categorical semantics of quantum logic is discussed which is based on the modification of the topos construction itself – so called $quantos$ – which would be evaluated as a non-classical modification of topos with some extra structure allowing to take into consideration the peculiarity of negation in orthomodular quantum logic. The algebra of subobjects of quantos is not the Heyting algebra but an orthomodular lattice. Quantoses might be apprehended as an abstract reflection of Landsman's proposal of "Bohrification", i.e., the mathematical interpretation of Bohr's classical concepts by commutative $C^*$-algebras, which in turn are studied in their quantum habitat of noncommutative $C^*$-algebras – more fundamental structures than commutative $C^*$-algebras. The Bohrification suggests that topos-theoretic approach also should be modified. Since topos by its nature is an intuitionistic construction then Bohrification in abstract case should be transformed in an application of categorical structure based on an orthomodular lattice which is more general construction than Heyting algebra – orthomodular lattices are non-distributive while Heyting algebras are distributive ones. Toposes thus should be studied in their quantum habitat of "orthomodular" categories i.e. of quntoses. Also an interpretation of some well-known systems of orthomodular quantum logic in quantos of functors $\mathsf{[E,QSets]}$ is constructed where $\mathsf{QSets}$ is a quantos (not a topos) of quantum sets. The completeness of those systems in respect to the semantics proposed is proved.
