Cooperatives' existence and role in supporting national economic activities are essential and strategic. Strengthening the cooperative economy and small business economy is a priority. Kediri City received the cooperative award from the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME in 2017. The award was given because it successfully guided and developed Cooperatives. Until now Kediri City has a cooperative citizen association (CA) that has been formed. One hundred fifty cooperatives from a total of 352 CA have been created in the city.  Data analysis using SWOT analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in a project or business speculation. These four factors make up the SWOT acronym (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). They are used to determine the strategy for developing an CA Cooperative in Kediri. Based on the calculation from the results of the SWOT analysis, the total score of the internal strategic factor analysis (IFAS) obtained a score of 2.54, and this shows thatThe CA Cooperative has an excellent strength to face the opportunities and threats that occur.

If the politics of prudent diffidence and the restoration of political balance, civil association, and limited constitutional rule, proves incapable of recovering political conduct under contingent conditions, what alternative dispositions might mould the contours of our post historical future? This chapter concludes the book by examining how historically body politics have died from a variety of internal and external distempers and how this might be Europe’s fate. It further considers how a brave new artificially intelligent world might organize new liberal and illiberal progressive futures either through a digitally administered party state like China or Singapore or what Silicon Valley envisages as an algorithmically managed, digital oligarchy that renders individual autonomy and democracy redundant. Both envisage a technocratically managed future where AI caters to and defines the needs of a dependent citizen body eking out its days in either a distracted or opiated stupor. Both forms of technocratic rationalism represent the antithesis of the understanding of civil society as a local and contingent compact between the dead, the living, and the yet to be born.

Abstract What is the effect of membership in civil associations on political participation? Membership has been linked to providing social capital and personal networks, which in turn help citizens more easily navigate politics. Yet this link is empirically complex, since politically interested individuals self-select into networks and associations. This research note addresses the impact of membership on different forms of political participation using a panel survey from Sweden that distinguishes between passive and active membership in various types of associations. The baseline results reaffirm a strong association between membership and political participation. The survey's panel dimension is exploited to reveal that earlier scholarship has likely overstated the robustness of membership's participatory effects. Rather, the remaining impact of association membership in the panel specification is mainly driven by types of associations for which the highest degree of selection behaviour is expected.

This chapter surveys some of the main themes of Michael Oakeshott’s On Human Conduct (1975). Despite Oakeshott’s reputation as a conservative thinker, an examination of his theory of civil association reveals how extensively the book anticipated subsequent developments in contemporary liberal political philosophy. On Human Conduct offers many insights into questions of liberal neutrality, civility, agonistic pluralism, and radical individuality that have come to dominate the writings of leading contemporary exponents of liberalism. Notwithstanding these enduring influences, however, the book proves much less helpful in clarifying thorny questions about the distribution of membership in bounded political communities.

Although Michael Oakeshott was in his own time a lone figure in a philosophical world dominated by Oxford analysis, he has come to be recognized as the most notable British political philosopher of the twentieth century. He is best known for his view that political activity is neither purely empirical nor the application of ideas, but ‘the pursuit of intimations’. His image of culture as a conversation between different kinds of understanding has been widely accepted. Oakeshott first became celebrated in attacking what he called ‘rationalism’ in the Cambridge Journal (which he edited) in 1947. Oakeshott’s rationalist is a restless political meddler who believes that politics is putting ideas into effect. The fullest statement of his political philosophy is On Human Conduct (1975), in which the modern state is understood as a tension between civil and enterprise association. Exploring the idea of a civil association is perhaps Oakeshott’s most notable contribution to political philosophy.
