Nurses’ turnover is a major global problem with significant service and cost implications. Although sizeable research inquiries have been made into the antecedents, the dynamics, and the consequences of nurses’ turnover, there is still a lack of fine-grained understanding of the psychological states that reflect the cumulative impact of different antecedents and immediately precede nurses’ intentions to quit either from their unit/organization and/or their profession. This paper introduces and develops a meaning-based view of nurses’ turnover. This perspective distinguishes between meaning in work (based on the nurses’ relationship with their work) and meaning at work (based on the nurses’ relationship with their work environment) and explain the implications of high/low meaning in and at work on nurses’ turnover. This meaning-based view of nurses’ turnover offers nurses, administrators and policy makers a deeper and a more nuanced understanding of turnover and promises more tailored remedies for the turnover problem.

The protection of paleontological material holds one of the central places in the sphere of conservation of the objects of historical-cultural heritage. Each country has its own legal traditions and system on the protection of fossil objects on their territory. Attention is given to legislative regulation of the search, acquisition and collection of paleontological objects in Canada. The experience of this country is of particular interest for the Russian practice. Unlike other countries, Russia and Canada have similar climate, geography and natural conditions, presence of permafrost and deposits with fossils. Therefore, Canadian experience in e protection of paleontological objects deserves close consideration. The analysis of legislative acts of the provinces and territories of Canada reveals the peculiarities of legal regulation in this area and organization of government system on the protection of fossil deposits. The novelty of this work consists in placing the emphasis on the formation and distribution of proprietary rights to fossil objects and permeniralized fossils. The following conclusions were made: as a cultural-historical value, all fossil objects are owned by provinces and territories, which prevents them turning into sales unit; organization of protection of paleontological objects has a horizontal structure with priority of provincial and territorial authorities, rather than federal.

McKay and Cannon’s steamship plied into the port at Wellington, New Zealand before dawn on April 21, 1921. They spent just over a week on the North Island, visiting missionaries, local members of European descent known as “Pakehas,” and native Maori Latter-day Saints. By the time of McKay’s visit, Maori converts and their descendants composed the majority of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. Their traditions enamored McKay—most notably the “Hui Tau,” an annual multiday conference that included dancing, feasts, and community discussions ranging from church administration to local needs and unit organization. On many occasions, McKay was “hongied” by Maori members, an intimate nose-to-nose greeting. McKay bid farewell to the New Zealand Saints on April 30, 1921, departing for the next leg of his journey.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a new systematic method for a multi-unit organization to cope with the cost allocation problem, which is an extension of the reciprocal method. As uncertainty is the inherent characteristic of business environments, assuming changes in engaged parameters is almost necessary. The outputs of the model determine the total value of each unit/business lines or product. Design/methodology/approach In the proposed method, contrary to existing models, business units are able to transfer their costs to other units, and also, not necessarily transfer the total costs of support units completely. The DEMATEL approach, which finds all relationships between different parts of a system, is also applied for computing effects of the units’ expense paid to each other. Moreover, a fuzzification approach is used to capture linguistic experts’ judgments about related data. Findings Being closer to the real-world problem in comparison to the previous approach, the proposed systematic approach encompasses the other cost allocation models. Practical implications Applying the proposed model for a system like a multi-unit organization, the total price of each unit/business line can be obtained. Moreover, this cost allocation process guides the related decision-makers to better manage the expenses that each unit pays the others. Originality/value In the existing studies, business units cannot pay expense support units. However, in the proposed method, the business units are able to pay expenses for other units, and also, not necessarily pay total expenses for support unit completely. Moreover, considering engaged parameters as fuzzy numbers makes the proposed model closer to real-world problems.
