Abstract Based on the generalized Huygens-Fresnel integral in the paraxial approximation and on the Rytov theory, the analytical expression of the axial intensity distribution for the Generalized Humbert-Gaussian beams (GHGBs) propagating through a turbulent atmosphere is derived in this work. The results for the special cases of GHGBs are deduced from our study and illustrated numerically. The influence of the turbulent strength and the incident beam parameters on the propagation of these beams in the atmospheric turbulence is investigated and discussed in detail.

The characteristics of pankratic telescopes are considered. It was found that in most modern models of pancratic telescopes, the ratio of the change in magnification and the ratio of the change in the angle of the field of view are not equal to each other. The synthesis of an optical system with a pacratic change of characteristics in the ocular part in the paraxial approximation was carried out using the methods of computer simulation. The analysis of a particular simulation result made it possible to identify the cause of the revealed inequality.

Trends in the development of IR lens systems, possible problems and solutions arising in the development of LWIR variofocal lens systems interfaced with uncooled matrix receivers, company products and the characteristics of the lens systems they produce are considered. The analysis of the considered products has been carried out, as a result of which the most optimal characteristics for development have been identified. The aim of the study is to obtain in the paraxial approximation a mathematical model of a variofocal LWIR objective coupled with an uncooled matrix receiver, and to identify the relations in such a model. The research results will be used for further theoretical and practical research in the master thesis.

A new class of sources presenting structured coherence properties is introduced and analyzed. They are obtained as the incoherent superposition of coherent Laguerre-Gaussian modes with suitable coefficients. This ensures that the shape of the intensity profile and the spatial coherence features of the propagated beams are invariant during paraxial approximation. A simple analytical expression is obtained for the cross-spectral density of the sources of this class, regardless of the number of superposed modes. Properties of these sources are analyzed and described by several examples.
