Facial aging involves not only the loss of volume, but also the ptosis of the fat compartments, leading to the emergence of deep folds and generating heterogeneous creases and depressions. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the drug injections of active principles in the subcutaneous tissue to reduce the puffiness in the jowl and nasolabial areas, and also the accumulation of fat in the submental area (“double chin”). Therefore, we describe the use of lipolytic and antioxidant substances to reduce facial fat in four patients who were very satisfied with the result of the treatment. Consequently, we conclude that the drug injections of active principles are a practical method with fast and promising results in the treatment of facial fat.

The practice of delivering cosmetic injectables in the outpatient setting continues to grow in Australia.1 The increase in demand has seen a dramatic rise in the number of new cosmetic injectable clinics using telehealth prescribing services. Lipodissolve treatment is an example of a non-surgical procedure that aims to improve the appearance of a ‘double chin’ by injection of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and deoxycholic acid (DCA) into submental adipose tissue. We describe a case of an airway complication and hospitalisation secondary to the injection of Lipodissolve in the neck of a 23-year-old female.

The submental-cervical angle is an important anatomical landmark in neck beauty. Considered attractive and a sign of youthful when between 105° and 120°, greater values are considered a “heavy” neck or double chin and are related to the aging process and/or weight gain. The submandibular gland can also contribute to the alteration of the submental-cervical angle, increasing the area’s bulging. Neck-lifting techniques have the potential to produce important changes in the lateral view of the face, making it look more youthful, and that is more noticeable in the frontal aspect. This review focuses on the treatment of the neck, including all modifications that occur during the aging process, and postoperative procedures used to decrease the risk of complications.

One of the most common defects in the facial area is the so‑called “double chin”. The problem affects both males and females, and its occurrence is associated with several different factors. It is commonly believed that this defect is a result of excessive adipose tissue location in the lower face. However, the problem seems to be more complex. It is also facilitated by the loss of firmness and elasticity of ageing skin, and in many persons the existence of a double chin results from their anatomical structure, and therefore is determined by genes. Besides, incorrect posture accentuates the defect. It may seem that such minor change does not affect the appearance to a large extent. Whereas, in most cases it causes that the border between the jaw line and the neck disappears what, in turn, distorts the face contour. All this makes a person with a double chin look much older than he or she in fact is. This leads to negative self‑esteem, makes people feel ashamed, and quite often is the main reason for avoiding interaction with other people. So, it is no wonder that persons with such defect seek methods offering its mitigation.Surgical methods give quick and satisfactory effects. However, they are fraught with high risk of complications, and as such they cause anxiety and ultimately discourage patients from making the decision. Luckily, significant improvements in the field of cosmetology and aesthetic surgery offer a wide range of possibilities to reduce a double chin in a manner which is completely non‑invasive, pain free, and does not require long lasting convalescence. In this case, very good results are achieved with the use of innovative technological solutions, such as HIFU and cryolipolysis. Aim. The main aim of this paper is to assess the efficiacy of cryolipolysis in the double chin reduction and the description of innovative instrumental methods allowing for a non‑invasive reduction of this defect.

Porcine salmonellosis is of important economic and food safety importance, as it is a cause of foodinfections in humans, and is present in large scale in finishing pigs due to lymph node latency and rearingconditions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the reduction in Salmonella spp. in slaughterswine carcasses, after slaughtering under a bath with water at 80 ° C. Ninety swine carcasses wereevaluated after slaughter at four harvesting points (leg, loin, belly and double chin), before and afterbathing with water at 80 °C, in 720 samples, with quantitative analysis by the number method moreprobable. In slaughtering 43.33% (39/90) of the animals were positive before hot water applicationrepresented by 62 positive samples. After the intervention, 88.71% (55/62) of the positive sampleszeroed the counts, in seven samples there was no reduction and in 11 samples, there was positivity inpreviously negative animals. The typifications of all positives were Salmonella Typhimurium. Thesamples with the greatest reduction in the count were double chin and belly samples with a concentrationof 330 NMP / g that subsequently zeroed. Treatment with hot water bath in the carcasses was efficient,with significant difference of positivity before and after the intervention. There were cases of crosscontamination after intervention in animals that remained positive and animals negative. Intervention by bathing the carcasses after gutting with 80 ° C water reduces the Salmonella spp. count and iseconomically viable.
