Purpose The purpose of this paper was to develop the first standard apparel sizing system for Saudi adult female population originating from anthropometric study using three-dimensional (3D) body scanner. Design/methodology/approach An anthropometric survey was conducted in four regions of the country where 1,074 participants between the ages of 18 and 63 were scanned using white light 3D body scanner. K-means cluster analysis using stature and hip girth as control variables produced the proposed sizing system, whereas regression equations were used to determine the parameters between measurements of different sizes. Findings Three sizing groups with 12 size designations in each totalling 36 size designations were identified. The sizing charts developed in this study show that key girth measurement ranges of chest, waist and hips are comparable to that of ISO standard and (ASTM D5585-11), while the Saudi female population falls into shorter height brackets than ISO and ASTM standards. Originality/value In this study, the first anthropometric database for Saudi female population was established using 3D body scanning technology, and a sizing system for this target population was developed.

The prediction of pig liveweight from three body measurements was studied using crossbred (Landrace x Large White and Hampshire x Large White) barrows and gilts, there were 286 measurements for the different parameters studied (Chest girth, Body length and Lain girth). "There were no significant differences due to sex for all the parameters investigated. Pig liveweight was best predicted singly using chest girth measurement. However, with the use of a combination of chest girth and body length, the prediction efficiency was enhanced.

The heart girth parameter is an important indicator reflecting the growth and development of pigs that provides critical guidance for the optimization of healthy pig breeding. To overcome the heavy workloads and poor adaptability of traditional measurement methods currently used in pig breeding, this paper proposes an automated pig heart girth measurement method using two Kinect depth sensors. First, a two-view pig depth image acquisition platform is established for data collection; the two-view point clouds after preprocessing are registered and fused by feature-based improved 4-Point Congruent Set (4PCS) method. Second, the fused point cloud is pose-normalized, and the axillary contour is used to automatically extract the heart girth measurement point. Finally, this point is taken as the starting point to intercept the circumferential perpendicular to the ground from the pig point cloud, and the complete heart girth point cloud is obtained by mirror symmetry. The heart girth is measured along this point cloud using the shortest path method. Using the proposed method, experiments were conducted on two-view data from 26 live pigs. The results showed that the heart girth measurement absolute errors were all less than 4.19 cm, and the average relative error was 2.14%, which indicating a high accuracy and efficiency of this method.

The clinical research study was carried out on 30 pateints of Udara-Jatodakawastha to evaluate the efficacy of Shardul Ghanavati in the management of Udara-Jatodakawstha, The study was conducted at department of Kayachikitsa, Aryangla Ayurvedic College and Hospital Satara, Maharashtra. For assessment of result patient was investigated before after for Hemogram, Liver function test & USG Abdomen. Clinical features like Abdominal girth, change in weight, Breathlessness, yellowness of sclera, pedal edema and loss of appetite were assessment criteria for analysis of result. The study reveals that Shardul Ghanavati has significant role in management of Udara-Jatodakawastha, The total efficacy of treatment was found 59.37 % in subjective criteria, and significant result found in objective criteria (weight & girth measurement), as well as supplementary criteria in period of two months. In sitting position 11.97 % reduction in abdominal girth, In supine position 11.34 % reduction in abdominal girth & mean score reduction in weight 12.48% take place. Also it gives immediate relief to patient by doing “Virechana” karma, which is pradhan chikitsa of Udara-Jatodakawastha.
