The spatial discretization of the single-cone Dirac Hamiltonian on the surface of a topological insulator or superconductor needs a special ``staggered’’ grid, to avoid the appearance of a spurious second cone in the Brillouin zone. We adapt the Stacey discretization from lattice gauge theory to produce a generalized eigenvalue problem, of the form \bm{\mathcal H}\bm{\psi}=\bm{E}\bm{\mathcal P}\bm{\psi}ℋ𝛙=𝐄𝒫𝛙, with Hermitian tight-binding operators \bm{\mathcal H}ℋ, \bm{\mathcal P}𝒫, a locally conserved particle current, and preserved chiral and symplectic symmetries. This permits the study of the spectral statistics of Dirac fermions in each of the four symmetry classes A, AII, AIII, and D.

Abstract We consider the particle current in the asymmetric avalanche process on a ring. It is known to exhibit a transition from the intermittent to continuous flow at the critical density of particles. The exact expressions for the first two scaled cumulants of the particle current are obtained in the large time limit t ! ∞ via the Bethe ansatz and a perturbative solution of the TQ-equation. The results are presented in an integral form suitable for the asymptotic analysis in the large system size limit N ! ∞. In this limit the first cumulant, the average current per site or the average velocity of the associated interface, is asymptotically finite below the critical density and grows linearly and exponentially times power law prefactor at the critical density and above, respectively. The scaled second cumulant per site, i.e. the diffusion coefficient or the scaled variance of the associated interface height, shows the O(N-1⁄2) decay expected for models in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality class below the critical density, while it is growing as O(N3⁄2) and exponentially times power law prefactor at the critical point and above. Also, we identify the crossover regime and obtain the scaling functions for the uniform asymptotics unifying the three regimes. These functions are compared to the scaling functions describing crossover of the cumulants of the avalanche size, obtained as statistics of the first return area under the time space trajectory of the Vasicek random process.

Abstract We investigate the vortex structures excited by Ioffe-Pritchard magnetic field and Dresselhaus-type spin-orbit coupling in F = 2 ferromagnetic Bose-Einstein condensates. In the weakly interatomic interacting regime, an external magnetic field can generate a polar-core vortex in which the canonical particle current is zero. With the combined effect of spin-orbit coupling and magnetic field, the ground state experiences a transition from polar-core vortex to Mermin-Ho vortex, in which the canonical particle current is anticlockwise. For fixed spin-orbit coupling strengths, the evolution of phase winding, magnetization and degree of phase separation with magnetic field are studied. Additionally, with further increasing spin-orbit coupling strength, the condensate exhibits symmetrical density domains separated by radial vortex arrays. Our work paves the way to explore exotic topological excitations in high-spin system.

It is conjectured that in cosmological applications the particle current is not modified but finite heat or energy flow. Therefore, comoving Eckart frame is a suitable choice, as it merely ceases the charge and particle diffusion and conserves charges and particles. The cosmic evolution of viscous hadron and parton epochs in casual and non-casual Eckart frame is analyzed. By proposing equations of state deduced from recent lattice QCD simulations including pressure p, energy density ρ, and temperature T, the Friedmann equations are solved. We introduce expressions for the temporal evolution of the Hubble parameter H˙, the cosmic energy density ρ˙, and the share η˙ and the bulk viscous coefficient ζ˙. We also suggest how the bulk viscous pressure Π could be related to H. We conclude that the relativistic theory of fluids, the Eckart frame, and the finite viscous coefficients play essential roles in the cosmic evolution, especially in the hadron and parton epochs.

As a continuation of solving the equations governing the perturbation of the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson- Walker (FLRW) space-time in Newman-Penrose formalism, the behaviour of the massive Klein-Gordon (KG) field coupled to the FLRW has been investigated. The Equation of Motion has been written and solved separately for radial and temporal parts. The former solution has come to be in terms of the Gegenbauer polynomials and spherical harmonics and the latter being in the WKB approximation. The particle current, energy momentum tensor and potential have also been obtained.

The analytical expressions of particle number, critical temperature, condensate fraction, total energy, specific heat and spatial distribution of particle current for rotating weakly interacting Bose gases in a harmonic trap are derived by using the local density approximation (LDA). The effects of weakly repulsive interaction on the above thermodynamics are discussed by introducing a positive scattering length. Our results completely coincide with those for the case of rotating ideal Bose gases when the weak interaction disappears.
