The spatial discretization of the single-cone Dirac Hamiltonian on the surface of a topological insulator or superconductor needs a special ``staggered’’ grid, to avoid the appearance of a spurious second cone in the Brillouin zone. We adapt the Stacey discretization from lattice gauge theory to produce a generalized eigenvalue problem, of the form \bm{\mathcal H}\bm{\psi}=\bm{E}\bm{\mathcal P}\bm{\psi}ℋ𝛙=𝐄𝒫𝛙, with Hermitian tight-binding operators \bm{\mathcal H}ℋ, \bm{\mathcal P}𝒫, a locally conserved particle current, and preserved chiral and symplectic symmetries. This permits the study of the spectral statistics of Dirac fermions in each of the four symmetry classes A, AII, AIII, and D.

The present study aimed to evaluate adaptation of the single gutta-percha cone on root canal walls prepared with the two systems, the XP-endo Shaper (XPS; FKG Dentaire, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland) and ProTaper Next systems (PTN; Dentsply Sirona, Ballaigues, Switzerland) by using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) technology. Twenty long oval-shaped canals in mandibular incisors were scanned by micro-CT (Skyscan 1172; Bruker microCT, Kontich, Belgium). Two groups were divided into (n = 10) according to the canal preparation protocol: XPS group with an extra 45 s of instrumentation and PTN group. A gutta percha cone, with respect to the protocol used for each group (size 40, .04 taper, XPS and size 40, .06 taper, PTN) was adapted to the canal at the working length of all the samples, and all root canals were filled, using the single-cone technique. The mean values for volume of voids and percentage relative to the mentioned space were correspondingly higher in XPS group than they were PTN group, mean values for volume of voids (3.61 mm3 - 1.92 mm3) and for percentage of voids (39.25% - 23.28%), respectively, significant differences were recorded (p < 0.05) between the two groups (XPS and PTN, Student’s-t test for homogenous variances and Mann–Whitney test). The canals prepared with XPS, in the procedure performed with an extra 45 s of instrumentation, showed a higher volume of voids than those prepared with the PTN system, in obturation of the root canal with the single cone technique.

This paper aims to determine the creativity of Agus Tasman Ranaatmadja, a dance master, in formulating a dance work by analyzing his artistic creations textually. The study was conducted qualitatively by borrowing Sumandiyo Hadi's idea on textual analysis of dance. The results of the study show that the dance "Bedhaya Si Kaduk Manis" has an asymmetrical gawang development and a dancer's level pattern play. “Tari Bedhaya Si Kaduk Manis” is constructed using the creator's version of the work method and is presented with a single cone serving plot. The final entity "Bedhaya Si Kaduk Manis Dance" has a significant difference from the bedhaya dance in general, but still has the taste and principle of bedhaya dance.

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to compare the degree of dentinal penetration between an epoxy resin-based sealer applied by using two different filling methods and an ultrasonically activated calcium silicate-based sealer via confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Materials and Methods Forty-five extracted permanent maxillary premolars with type II canals (Vertucci’s classification) were subjected to the experiment. The root canals were instrumented and distributed randomly into the following three groups: AH Plus + continuous wave technique (AHC group); AH Plus + single cone technique (AHS group); and Endoseal MTA + single cone technique with ultrasonic activation (EMS) group. Each sealer was labeled with rhodamine B dye to allow visualization under CLSM. The sealer penetration depth in each sample was observed at 2 mm and 5 mm from the apex by using CLSM. The data were statistically analyzed by using analysis of variance or Kruskal–Wallis H test according to normality of variable (α = 0.05). Results In all groups, the maximum sealer penetration depth, mean fluorescence intensity, and sum fluorescence intensity values were higher at the 5-mm level than at the 2-mm level. At the 5-mm level, the EMS group showed the lowest value (p = 0.02). At the 2-mm level, there were no statistically significant differences among any of the groups. The AHC group showed higher values than the other groups, but there was no statistically significant difference in the apical area where access of instruments was difficult. Conclusion The AHC group showed the highest dentinal tubule penetration, but had questionable filing efficacy in the apical area, which is of particular importance for the success of root canal treatment. Therefore, in areas such as the apical 2 mm of premolars with type II canals, which are difficult to access by using instruments such as heat carriers, other appropriate approaches may be required accordingly.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of ultrasonic vibration and thermo-hydrodynamic obturation (VibraTHO) using two types of root canal sealers, in comparison to the single-cone (SC) technique and a calcium silicate-based root canal sealer in complex root canal anatomies. Thirty single-rooted human maxillary premolars with two canals that had a complex root canal anatomy of transverse anastomoses or ramifications were prepared and assigned to the following three experimental groups, according to the filling method: SE group, SC technique with Endoseal TCS; VE group, VibraTHO with Endoseal TCS; and VG group, VibraTHO with GuttaFlow 2. Each tooth was scanned using micro-computed tomography, and the volume percentages of the filling material were calculated. The analysis of variance was used to analyze the statistical differences between the three groups (p < 0.05). The mean volume of the filling material was higher in the VG and VE groups than that in the SE group (p < 0.05) along the apical to middle-to-coronal thirds, and significant differences were observed between each root canal area (p < 0.05), with the only exception being at the apical thirds between the VE and SE groups. The VibraTHO technique using GuttaFlow 2 can be a more effective root canal filling method for anatomically complex root canal systems than the SC technique with Endoseal TCS. On the other hand, the VibraTHO technique using Endoseal TCS has a limited effect on improving the quality of the root filling at the apical portion of anatomically complex root canal systems, compared to the SC technique with Endoseal TCS.

The aim of the present study was to determine the vertical root fracture (VRF) resistance of roots obturated with TotalFill BC Sealer and AH Plus sealer using lateral condensation and single cone techniques in comparison to untreated controls. Sixty single rooted mandibular premolars were sectioned and divided into six groups. Ten teeth were left untreated (positive control-Gp 1) and fifty teeth were cleaned and shaped. Ten root specimens were left unfilled (negative control-Gp 2) and the remaining roots were divided into 4 groups. Gp 3, GP and AH Plus sealer (AH Plus) using the cold lateral compaction (LC) technique; Gp 4, GP and AH Plus using the Single Cone (SC) technique; Gp 5: TotalFill GP and TotalFill BC sealer using the LC technique; Gp 6: TotalFill GP and TotalFill BC sealer with SC. VRF was performed for all specimens using a universal testing machine. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukeys post-hoc multiple comparison test was used to compare the means among tested study groups. Group 1 (positive control) displayed the highest fracture resistance (946.61 ± 166.465 N); however, the lowest fracture strength was demonstrated by the specimens in group 2 (negative control) (433.31 ± 129.350 N). Specimens treated with AH plus using different obturation techniques (group 3 and 4) showed comparable outcomes (p > 0.05). Similarly, specimens treated with TotalFill BC sealer with different obturation techniques showed statistically similar outcomes (p > 0.05). It was also observed that specimens in groups 3, 4, 5 and 6 demonstrated comparable outcomes of fracture strength (p > 0.05). The use of TotalFill-BC sealer showed similar vertical root fracture resistance as AH plus sealer in root canal treated teeth. Use of total fill-BC and AH Plus sealer in root canal treatment showed vertical root fracture resistance comparable to untreated natural teeth (positive controls).

Abstract Background Bacterial microleakage is an important cause of apical periodontitis and endodontic treatment failure. This study aimed to assess the bacterial microleakage of nano-mineral trioxide aggregate (nano-MTA) as a sealer, Endoseal MTA, and GuttaFlow Bioseal sealers in atmospheric pressure, and simulated underwater diving and aviation conditions. Methods In this in vitro, experimental study, 180 extracted single-rooted teeth were cleaned and shaped, and were then randomly divided into three groups for single-cone obturation using Endoseal MTA, GuttaFlow Bioseal, or nano-MTA as a sealer. Each group was then randomly divided into three subgroups, and subjected to ambient atmospheric pressure, 2 atm pressure (to simulate underwater diving), and 0.5 atm pressure (to simulate aviation) using a custom-made pressure chamber. The teeth then underwent microbial leakage test using Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans), and the percentage of samples showing microleakage was recorded for up to 1 month, and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results The three sealer groups were significantly different regarding bacterial microleakage (P < 0.05). The nano-MTA group showed significantly higher microleakage after 15 days than the other two groups (P = 0.006). The effect of pressure on bacterial microleakage was not significant in any sealer group (P > 0.05). Conclusion Within the limitations of this in vitro study, it may be concluded that single-cone obturation technique using nano-MTA as a sealer results in lower resistance to bacterial microleakage compared with the use of GuttaFlow Bioseal, and Endoseal MTA. Pressure changes in simulated underwater diving and aviation conditions had no significant effect on bacterial microleakage. Trial Registration Number This is not a human subject research.

This study aimed to compare the volume percentage of filling voids in root canals prepared with a newly introduced rotary system, TruNatomy (Dentsply Maillefer), and obturated by the modified continuous wave (CW) or single cone (SC) filling technique. Plastic tooth models with four canals were enlarged by using TruNatomy files and randomly allocated into either the CW or SC group. The volume percentage of filling voids at 1–6 mm from the apex was analyzed by using microcomputed tomography; mean values were compared by using independent two-sample t-tests (p < 0.05). The mean volume percentages of the filling voids were 2.81 ± 1.11% and 1.77 ± 0.82% in the CW and SC groups, respectively. In the apical area (1–4 mm), volume percentages in the palatal were significantly different between the CW and SC groups; in the middle area (4–6 mm), volume percentages in the palatal and mesiobuccal 2 canals were significantly different (p < 0.05). The SC group showed lower volume percentages of filling voids than the CW group. The canals prepared by the TruNatomy system can be obturated well by both the SC and CW techniques. The SC technique showed a lower number of voids, especially in the palatal canals.
