Abstract The energy levels of the Klein-Gordon equation in hyper-radial space under the Deng-Fan potential energy function are studied by the SWKB and WKB approximation methods. We obtained the analytic solution of the energy spectra and the ground state wave function in closed form. Furthermore, we obtained the energy equation corresponding to the Schrodinger equation by invoking the non-relativistic limit. The variations of the non-relativistic N-dimensional energy spectra with the potential parameters and radial quantum number are investigated. The energy levels are degenerate for N= 2, N=4 and increase with the dimensionality number. The ground state wave function and its gradient are continuous at the boundary r=0,r=∞. Our results for the energy spectra are in excellent agreement with the ones obtained by other analytical methods where similar centrifugal approximations were applied. We show that the semi-classical methods notably the SWKB and WKB approximation still offer an effective and the simplest approach for solving the bound state problems in theoretical physics.

A Regge–Wheeler analysis is performed for a novel black hole mimicker ‘the regular black hole with asymptotically Minkowski core’, followed by an approximation of the permitted quasi-normal modes for propagating waveforms. A first-order WKB approximation is computed for spin zero and spin one perturbations of the candidate spacetime. Subsequently, numerical results analysing the respective fundamental modes are compiled for various values of the a parameter (which quantifies the distortion from Schwarzschild spacetime), and for various multipole numbers ℓ. Both electromagnetic spin one fluctuations and scalar spin zero fluctuations on the background spacetime are found to possess shorter-lived, higher-energy signals than their Schwarzschild counterparts for a specific range of interesting values of the a parameter. Comparison between these results and some analogous results for both the Bardeen and Hayward regular black holes is considered. Analysis as to what happens when one permits perturbations of the Regge–Wheeler potential itself is then conducted, first in full generality, before specialising to Schwarzschild spacetime. A general result is presented explicating the shift in quasi-normal modes under perturbation of the Regge–Wheeler potential.

Abstract Recent studies show that the tunnelling radiation of vector particles has been studied successfully by WKB approximation and Hamilton-Jacobi method. In view of this, the main purpose of this paper is to study the Proca equation and the vector particles tunnelling radiation in a 4-dimensional black hole. Finally, the results here show that the temperature of the vector particle is the same as that of the Dirac particle.

The equivalent system of equations corresponding to the Dirac equation is derived and the WKB approximation of this system is found. Similarly, the WKB approximation for the equivalent system of equation corresponding to the squared Dirac equation is found and it is proved that the Lorentz equation and the Bargmann-Michel-Telegdi iquations follow from the new Dirac-Pardy system. The new tensor equation with sigma matrix is derived for the verification by adequate laboratories.

A new approach to the description of an inhomogeneous chain of coupled resonators (inhomogeneous disk waveguides) is proposed. New matrix difference equations based on the technique of coupled integral equations and the decomposition method are obtained. Various approximate approaches have been developed, including the WKB approximation.

The implementation of a source to drain tunneling in ultrascaled devices using MS-EMC has traditionally led to overestimated current levels in the subthreshold regime. In order to correct this issue and enhance the capabilities of this type of simulator, we discuss in this paper two alternative and self-consistent solutions focusing on different parts of the simulation flow. The first solution reformulates the tunneling probability computation by modulating the WKB approximation in a suitable way. The second corresponds to a change in the current calculation technique based on the utilization of the Landauer formalism. The results from both solutions are compared and contrasted to NEGF results from NESS. We conclude that the current computation modification constitutes the most suitable and advisable strategy to improve the MS-EMC tool.
