The article is devoted to the study of the terminological family with the base term “robot”. The issues concerning the structure of the terminological family, its basic lexical units, the most productive models of term formation and most frequent grammatical forms of terms are considered. Particular emphasis is placed on the specifics of the terminological family. The characteristic features of terminological elements used in the formation of new terms are defined. It is emphasised that the emergence of terminological combinations is a common way of forming new special words. In the course of study, it was found that the terminological family with the base term “robot” belongs to the class of highly deployed families. A five-stage model of the terminological family is presented. About 200 derived terms have been analysed at the five stages of term formation relating to the present state of language development. The scientific hypothesis that the emergence of terms-specifiers of the original concept is the way of forming a special professional terminological family has been proved. The material for research includes the “English-Russian Explanatory Dictionary” by E. M. Proydakov and L. A. Teplitskiy (Moscow, 2019), monographs, scientific publications on robotics in peer-reviewed journals in 2010—2021.

Logistics is a new branch of economic that grows quickly not only in highly developed countries but also in Ukraine, despite the difficult economic situation. Our science feels changes in economic life, so we can notice the large number of works on logistics, attention to the study of this discipline in universities, the emergence of numerous books for the educational process and so on. But still this important area of the economy is not presented lexicographically and vocabularies and glossaries of logistics don’t meet modern requirements to lexicographical product for at least two reasons: first, they don’t reflect the amount of industry terminology; secondly, they have many disadvantages so linguists criticize them. Expert-author has formulate principles of composing own dictionary, we mean previous, external parameters of dictionary’s composition. These parameters consist of special vocabulary (descriptive subject). During finding terms of logistics we’ll match focus primarily on the monograph, dissertation research, scientific articles on logistics, as well as numerous textbooks containing vocabulary and logistics glossary of terms. The peculiarity of the group of terms is that it contains many lexemes borrowed from other terminological systems. Donors of logistic terminology are management, marketing, accounting, pricing, international relations, transport, science, technology, engineering, law, mathematics, military affairs, trade, customs, paperwork terminology. Terminology of logistics also contains general scientific terms. Many of the term are nominations ontologically inherent events to logistics. Terminographic analysis of the fragment which belongs to terminological field with a base term логістика objectifies system connections in this group of terms and will give the opportunity for further draw up the definition of such entries to these lexemes which fully correspond to their concepts.

This study explored the behaviour and functions of term variation in research articles in order to better understand the process of knowledge construction within texts. A semantic analysis of term variation in 19 Spanish-language psychology research articles was carried out. Variants were classified according to the semantic distance from the base term. Analysis revealed that term variation provides information about the concept’s content and its relationships with other concepts within the conceptual structure. Furthermore, an examination of the distribution of term variants across text sections revealed three rhetorical functions of term variation: a naming function, present in the title, abstract and keyword sections; an explanatory function, in the introduction and discussion sections; and a particularizing function, in the method and results sections. This analysis confirmed that intratextual term variation plays a cognitive and rhetorical function in research articles, helping to construct and transfer knowledge within the text and to realize the communicative purposes of the genre.

In order to assess the safety of concentric reducers and eccentric reducers, the meridian stress and circumferential stress of the reducers subjected to in-plane bending moments are calculated based on the membrane theory. Solutions of limit bending moments are derived by using the approach with the equivalent stress and engineering coefficient. The solutions for both reducers are identical, as the formulas are composed of a base term multiplied by a bending moment coefficient. The limit bending moments are dominated by the small end of the reducers. The value of limit bending moment of the reducers is 14.6% more than that of a thin wall reducing elbow with same diameter and thickness when corresponding bending coefficient λ>3.0. But comparison with a straight pipe which has the same diameter and thickness as the small end of the reducers, the limit bending moment of the reducers is 11.1% lower and the constant in the formula for the reducers is 3.6 instead of 4.0 for straight pipe. It could be dangerous to determine the limit bending moment of concentric reducers and eccentric reducers directly from the formula of limit bending moment for a thin wall pipe.
