Chapter 9 builds on the arguments of its predecessors, focusing on the social sciences and the humanities. Its central theme is the importance of an interactive curriculum in these disciplines in promoting self-understanding. The subjects in question, when imaginatively combined, can play an important part in helping developing individuals discover the path they wish to pursue, and the character of the social environment in which they will make their journey. Literature, art, geography, history, anthropology, psychology, economics, and political science are all crucial parts of a general pre-university course of study. As before, the chapter makes concrete proposals. It concludes with a discussion of the value of studying foreign languages, and of an introduction to philosophy at the pre-university level.

The involvement and attractiveness of entrepreneurship are increasing due to technological advances that also positively impact the business world through digital platforms such as Alibaba, Shopee, Lazada, and so on. An increasingly popular online purchasing culture among consumers, making the focus of traders began to flower business through digital platforms. To offset the current needs of entrepreneurship, most institutes of higher learning began to make changes to courses for entrepreneurship. This change is expected to change the perception, interest and encourage students to make entrepreneurship one of the careers after graduation. Nevertheless, there is still a stigma about losses to graduates non-entrepreneurship participating in entrepreneurship after graduation and perception of graduates to participate in entrepreneurship due to lack of entrepreneurial-linked knowledge during their respective courses. As such, this study will undermine the impact of learning courses offered in ACIS in providing confidence to students to participate in entrepreneurship. This study will apply quantitative methods through the questionnaire to several students studying in the ACIS. The following questionnaire will then be analyzed using the SPSS method to answer the objectives of the study. The findings show that there are positive attitudes and interests among students to participate in entrepreneurship and students believe that the course of study they have followed provides knowledge and confidence to venture into entrepreneurship. Hence, this study is expected to help various parties to place entrepreneurial aspects as an important element in the structure of the study.

By using a survey and semi-structured interviewing our study showed that the majority of Slovene PhD students are satisfied with their Slovene academic writing skills, but admitted they could improve, for example, with regard to their use of typical academic vocabulary in its usual context; writing concisely and accurately; and producing characteristic sentences and phrases in accordance with specific sections of text. As for the origins of the skills in question, in students’ opinion the most important way of learning how to write academic Slovene is by reading academic text during the entire course of study, as well as by writing term papers and similar assignments. Here – in PhD students’ and supervisors’ opinion – the role of teachers is very important, i.e. all teachers, not just linguists, should contribute to the excellence of students’ knowledge of academic Slovene.

Abstract Background Medical education has a reputation for being demanding and stressful. However, longitudinal surveys across the whole course of study considering risks and resources are rare. Methods For the evaluation of stress and coping we administered the standard instruments Perceived Medical School Stress Scale (PMSS), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Work-Related Behavior and Experience Patterns (AVEM), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and a short form of the Coping Orientations to Problems Experienced Scale (Brief COPE) in three consecutive cohorts of medical students (N = 377) at one German university. Students were surveyed at the beginning of their studies (t0) and again during each consecutive summer semester (t1-t6). Results Stress and symptoms of anxiety and depression increased in the first two years of medical studies but decreased again towards their end. Consistently, freshmen medical students presented with a large proportion of the healthy pattern at t0 (56 %) that decreased to 30 % at t2, and increased up to 44 % at t6. Correspondingly, the proportion with the burnout-related risk pattern B increased from 9 to 16 % at t2, again decreasing to 7 % at t6. Over the whole course of study there was an almost continuous increase of the unambitious pattern S from t0 13 to 40 % at t6. Characteristic differences especially between the healthy pattern and the risk patterns regarding stress, mental health symptoms and coping were observed. Female students showed a higher vulnerability for stress, anxiety and depression as well as lower proportions with a healthy pattern, and higher proportions with risk patterns for overexertion and burnout. Conclusions The development of stress, symptoms and behavior and experience patterns especially in the first two years, demonstrating increasing study-related stress in the preclinical years, as well as the high proportion with an unambitious pattern at the end of the course of study emphasize the need for prevention and health promotion at both the individual and contextual levels.

The article is devoted to the study of the terminological family with the base term “robot”. The issues concerning the structure of the terminological family, its basic lexical units, the most productive models of term formation and most frequent grammatical forms of terms are considered. Particular emphasis is placed on the specifics of the terminological family. The characteristic features of terminological elements used in the formation of new terms are defined. It is emphasised that the emergence of terminological combinations is a common way of forming new special words. In the course of study, it was found that the terminological family with the base term “robot” belongs to the class of highly deployed families. A five-stage model of the terminological family is presented. About 200 derived terms have been analysed at the five stages of term formation relating to the present state of language development. The scientific hypothesis that the emergence of terms-specifiers of the original concept is the way of forming a special professional terminological family has been proved. The material for research includes the “English-Russian Explanatory Dictionary” by E. M. Proydakov and L. A. Teplitskiy (Moscow, 2019), monographs, scientific publications on robotics in peer-reviewed journals in 2010—2021.

This research aims to study boron-based coatings on the surface of steel parts. The significance of this topic is determined by practical considerations of the need to improve strength of the steel surface subjected to high loads. In the course of study, samples of strengthening coatings made of 65G steel obtained by HFEC heating method were created. Then, the samples were subjected to a series of studies using a metallographic microscope, as well as a measuring system based on eddy current effects. The obtained data analysis allows us to conclude about the pattern of electrical conductivity distribution on the surface of test materials with different coatings depending on the quantitative composition of flux when creating boron-based strengthening coatings.

The current study explores the multifaceted and entwined structure of constraints and spaces of the possibilities of moving ahead among the Dooms of Jammu, India, where the possibilities of upward mobility through education as a means have been observed. Interviews and detailed case study were done with eight cases. Four overlapping super-ordinate themes developed during the course of study: (a) challenges of different generation learners, (b) lack of different forms of capital, (c) dis-identification from own and emulating others and (d) mushrooming of hybrid and mimic generation. The participants experienced the very process of change and continuity through education in their lives. It is observed that education helped in converting the morphology of their existing structure. Each of the interviewee has some exclusive experiences to share, offering significant insights into their lives, struggles and their conditions. The results indicate that the first-generation learners have to face many obstacles. The study concludes that education gives better results under certain circumstances. The chances of low caste children performing better are higher if the educational institutions run with mixed batches with students belonging to all the sections of the society.
