Galvanic coatings have been attracting attention for many years as an object of research from both theoretical and practical points of view. A relatively new direction in electroplating is the production of composite coatings, which are based on metal matrices and dispersed phases of different nature. Introduction to the electrolyte for joint electrochemical deposition of micro -, nanoparticles of oxides, carbides, nitrides, polymers, etc. allows you to adjust the structure, composition, properties of coatings, providing them with new characteristics. As shown by the analysis of publications on this topic in the VINITI RAS Database, systematic research in this area has been carried out for about twenty years and interest in them has not decreased. The system of queries from the array of published documents selected and summarized all currently known combinations of metal matrix/dispersed phase and information about their properties (corrosion behavior, wear resistance, microhardness, resistance to high-temperature oxidation, heat resistance, structural and adhesive characteristics). The results are presented in the form of tables and are provided with links to the original works. The analysis of the obtained problem-oriented database showed that for the period 2000-2019, no more than 15-20% of possible combinations were described, and an even smaller number of composite coatings were studied in depth and brought to practical use. The presented material makes it possible to analyze promising areas of research in a clear and easy to find source information form. The review is based on more than 400 references to journal articles. The original database on composite electroplating contains 1650 sources (patents, reports, brief reports, deposited manuscripts, etc.) that may be of interest as an extensive reference material.

Today the scientific research has become of increased significance for the library activities. This calls for implementing new research methods. The Abstracts Journal “Informatics” was analyzed for the publications on “Research methods” for the 10-year period; the findings are discussed, i.e. the rise of interest methods in the library and information community toward applying research, positive dynamics of the document flow with the 10-year doubling period. Over 100 research methods are identified. Thematically, the stable part of the document flows make approximately one-fifth of the total volume. Twenty three methods are used most frequently. The subject headings for these methods demonstrate stability which means permanent interest toward these methods and stable vectors of research methods development. Metric methods are dominating, including those being used in the digital environment. The increase of subject headings efficiency evidences on their increasing relevancy. Mobile document flows characterize the newest research methods. These are the methods being borrowed from other fields and used occasionally in the library and information studies. “The research methods” topic appears to be a trending and a developing one. The core methods are defined. Nevertheless, the major part of the document flow remains decentralized and comprises many new vectors that, while being quite relevant, have not found their niche in the library science research.

Using various classifiers, which are thought to facilitate analytical work through structuring subject areas, in fact impedes this work. The authors present the method of combining several classification systems, namely the State Rubricator of Sci-tech Information (SRNTI); and RAS VINITI’s Rubricator of Disciplines; Universal Decimal Classification (UDC); International Patent Classification (IPC). The combination of these classification systems solves the fundamental problem which is to obtain the most detailed understanding of any scientific problem. The solution of this problem enables to determine search boundaries, filter out insignificant and irrelevant information on the subject (in this case – Microbiology). In their study, the authors selected the author's keywords and phrases. On the basis of the arrays of author’s keywords and phrases, an essential harmonized list of keywords and phrases for the basic Microbiology local rubricator was designed. Further, the selected keywords and phrases will serve as the foundation for building the ontological model of the discipline, which will enable computerized ontology building. The Microbiology draft rubricator developed by the authors comprises a three-level hierarchy. In particular, the first level is based on the classical concept of classification systems. Rubricator in Microbiology is developed on the basis of VINITI RAS classification of disciplines through the detailing method.

The paper presents the main technological stages of deep the matic indexing and its benefitsfor the information center acquisitions service. The most common problems of journal thematic attribution as a whole in global citation indexes are considered. It is argued that deep document indexing leads to an unlimited number of document subject headings thus creating serials multiple thematic profiles that represent an increasing number of interdisciplinary studies. The specific examples demonstrate the dynamic links formation between the publication and a certain set of thematic headings, which makes it possible to identify productive publications with different basic profiles for specific subject areas.A comparative study of 2016–2017 chemistry document arrays for VINITI RAS and Scopus journals selections was conducted. The Scopus journals analysis was carried out using the Scimagotools. In the Scopus database, the most representative thematic category is determined as "Chemistry, miscellaneous", which includes both polythematic and highly specialized publications. The maximum flow of Russian editionsarticles is noted in the field of physical chemistry with a significant number of productive journals with a basic physical profile. This model of deep thematic indexing allows the information center acquisitionsservice to monitor the content of various subject areas and ensure the completeness of the resulting documentsetsfor the information products.
