The paper presents the main technological stages of deep the matic indexing and its benefitsfor the information center acquisitions service. The most common problems of journal thematic attribution as a whole in global citation indexes are considered. It is argued that deep document indexing leads to an unlimited number of document subject headings thus creating serials multiple thematic profiles that represent an increasing number of interdisciplinary studies. The specific examples demonstrate the dynamic links formation between the publication and a certain set of thematic headings, which makes it possible to identify productive publications with different basic profiles for specific subject areas.A comparative study of 2016–2017 chemistry document arrays for VINITI RAS and Scopus journals selections was conducted. The Scopus journals analysis was carried out using the Scimagotools. In the Scopus database, the most representative thematic category is determined as "Chemistry, miscellaneous", which includes both polythematic and highly specialized publications. The maximum flow of Russian editionsarticles is noted in the field of physical chemistry with a significant number of productive journals with a basic physical profile. This model of deep thematic indexing allows the information center acquisitionsservice to monitor the content of various subject areas and ensure the completeness of the resulting documentsetsfor the information products.

Results of research on youth gardening programs indicate a variety of benefits; however, most studies to date have encountered difficulties in separating treatment effect from confounding variables. A survey of those recently involved in this type of research was conducted to identify common problems and generate suggestions for improving future research efforts. Problems reported as most frequently encountered include difficulty with timing and logistics, lack of funding, and finding and keeping sufficient numbers of participants. Suggestions for obtaining stronger results include: allowing plenty of time for planning, establishing good communication with collaborators, choosing topics relevant to funding agencies and policy makers, and creating interdisciplinary studies that are longitudinal or large-scale collaborative efforts.

One of the most common problems in the education system in northern Iloilo is students are escaping from classes to smoke with friends and classmates. This act resulted to slow performances in all subject areas. This research aims to find out the influence of anti-smoking campaigns such as symposiums, posters, lectures and video clips to the Junior High School students in northern Iloilo, Philippines. All the students were classified into three categories; non-smokers, second-hand smokers, and smokers. Two from each category were purposively selected. Interview and observation were utilized. The study revealed that non-smokers assured that they will not get involved in this kind of vices, second-hand smokers vowed to encourage their parents, relatives, friends, and classmates to stop cigarette smoking, and smokers to stop smoking because of the results to our organ systems. Health is very important to all the informants. Also, many of these participants belong to below-average learners. In this study, anti-smoking campaigns are effective methods to discourage students to smoke. No e-cigarettes smokers in the group because of its values. Parents and guardians play a vital role in the implementation of this advocacy. Also, the local government units should regulate the implementation of policies and ordinances regarding the smoking of minors. Thus, anti-smoking campaigns and messages could be excellent avenues to educate students about ordinances and laws, and the effects of smoking on our health.

The ability to analyse aspects of visual culture—works of art, maps or plans, graphs, tables and X-rays—quickly and efficiently is critical in decision-making in a broad range of disciplines. Eye tracking is a technology that can record how long someone dwells on a particular detail in an image, where the eye moves from one part of the image to the other, and the sequence the viewer uses to interpret visual information. These MP4 recordings can be played back and graphically enhanced with coloured dots and lines to point out this natural and fluent eye behaviour to learners. These recordings can form effective pedagogical tools for learning how to look at images through the eyes of experts by mimicking the patterns and rhythms of expert eye behaviour. This paper provides a meta-analysis of studies of this kind and also provides the results of a cross-disciplinary project which involved five different subject areas. The consensus arising from our meta-analysis reveals an emerging field with broad concerns in need of more integrated research. None of the studies cited in this article are interdisciplinary across the sciences and arts and, while some of them address higher education in medicine and computing, there are no interdisciplinary studies of how eye tracking is important for teaching in arts and science subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, none of the studies address how learning practitioners find these eye recordings useful for their own understanding of learning processes. This establishes the unique contribution of this project.

Using various classifiers, which are thought to facilitate analytical work through structuring subject areas, in fact impedes this work. The authors present the method of combining several classification systems, namely the State Rubricator of Sci-tech Information (SRNTI); and RAS VINITI’s Rubricator of Disciplines; Universal Decimal Classification (UDC); International Patent Classification (IPC). The combination of these classification systems solves the fundamental problem which is to obtain the most detailed understanding of any scientific problem. The solution of this problem enables to determine search boundaries, filter out insignificant and irrelevant information on the subject (in this case – Microbiology). In their study, the authors selected the author's keywords and phrases. On the basis of the arrays of author’s keywords and phrases, an essential harmonized list of keywords and phrases for the basic Microbiology local rubricator was designed. Further, the selected keywords and phrases will serve as the foundation for building the ontological model of the discipline, which will enable computerized ontology building. The Microbiology draft rubricator developed by the authors comprises a three-level hierarchy. In particular, the first level is based on the classical concept of classification systems. Rubricator in Microbiology is developed on the basis of VINITI RAS classification of disciplines through the detailing method.

The article presents the results of systematizing the subject areas of psychological and pedagogical researches in 2016-2020, dedicated to generalizations of the reflexively advanced Russian pedagogical practice in the context of the competence characteristics of pedagogical skills accentuation. We analyzed reports on the activities of scientific centers of the Russian Academy of Education, materials of scientific conferences and publications in the reference area of large Russian universities, as well as the regulations of pedagogical excellence competitions. To describe the concept of pedagogical excellence as a theoretical concept, the general orientation of the ideas of the most authoritative authors in psychological and pedagogical science was synthesized: pedagogical excellence is the highest level of a teacher’s ability to involve students in joint educational activities to achieve the planned results of development, education and training. The main vectors of differentiation of scientific directions are determined, based on: 1) a personality-oriented model of the teacher formation in the conditions of modern Russian education transformations; 2) the pragmatic and technological model of the pedagogical excellence formation. Interdisciplinary studies are identified as promising, integrating a personality-oriented approach and elements adapted to Russian conditions: 1) western technological pedagogical approaches, 2) the experience of Soviet pedagogy.

In this paper, I will describe the potential contributions of interdisciplinary studies combining speech-language pathology and rehabilitation counseling in the preparation of future speech-language pathologists (SLPs). I will provide a brief introduction to the field of rehabilitation counseling and consider it from an SLP’s perspective. Next, I will describe some of my own personal experiences as they pertain to the intersecting cultures of work and disability and how these experiences influenced my practice as a master’s level SLP eventually leading to my decision to pursue a doctoral degree in rehabilitation counseling. I will describe the impact of this line of interdisciplinary study on my research and teaching. Finally, I will present some arguments about why concepts relevant to rehabilitation counseling are important to the mindset of SLPs.
