One of the methods of material processing is considered, which allows to obtain high geometric accuracy and low surface roughness of parts, namely their abrasive finishing. The high quality of machining of parts in this way is due to the use of coordinated relative movement of the workpiece and the cutting tool. According to the kinematic features, most lapping machines can be divided into two groups: machines with oscillating working motion and machines with rotating lapping motion. The machines of the first group are more common due to the simplicity of their design and versatility. However, the possibility of their use is limited by the size range of the workpieces and uneven wear of the cutting tool and, as a consequence, the uneven surface treatment of the part. The machines of the second group are considered the most versatile, as they allow processing a wide range of parts, varying in shape and size, but they are also not without such a disadvantage as uneven wear of the cutting tool with all the corresponding consequences. Improving the efficiency of abrasive finishing by complicating the trajectory of the relative movement of the tool and the part, ie the formation of a unique mutual working movement of the lapping and the movement of the workpiece, is one of the most common areas. The main disadvantage of equipment that provides processing of parts on this principle is, in most cases, limited regulation of the operating parameters of the cutting process, so this area remains promising and has broad prospects for development. The constructive scheme of the hydraulic-pulse flat-lapping machine offered in work thanks to a combination of advantages of the hydraulic-pulse drive with use of numerical program control will allow to provide unique mutual multi-movement of preparation and the lapping tool with a possibility of adjustment of its parameters in the course of processing. Purposeful choice of the shape and density of the trajectory of the working movement of the tool will form a micro relief of the treated surface with the necessary statistical parameters and low roughness.

To date lapping as a finishing process of part surfaces lacks an underlying digital knowledge base. This is due to the complex interlinking of the numerous parameters that influence the results of machining. Starting from here the paper argues improved process planning and machining process optimization by presenting a new modelling algorithm of lapping and a software tool designed as a support for lapping machine operators. The proposed computer programme enables automated planning of machining and can be deployed for studies related to the influence of various work parameters on the quality criteria targeted by machining.

The maintenance in oil area need to undertake entire shutdowns together with generic refinery turn-around, unit shutdowns on a full accountability foundation and Scaffolding services. The in-house equipment and equipment: the in-house Maintenance workshop facility ought to be completely outfitted with lathe machines, shaping machine, hole spindle lathe machine, horizontal boring machine, radial drilling machine, pipe threading machine, valve lapping machine, mechanical seal lapping machine, welding computing device and all sorts of specialized warmness exchanger re-tubing gear and tools. Maintenance operations in this zone face many troubles in management, price and technical problems. This study aims to study the and count the failures occurred in equipments of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) in 2019, and study the maintenance strategies used in petroleum industry in the Kuwait state, a maintenance programs or steps will be suggested and investigated in order to improve the maintenance operations. Availability of devices are calculated depending on downtime of the devices at KOC. The data were collected about failures frequency occurred for the KOC company equipments. Most of oil equipments have good availability but in the case of KOC four devices have availability less than 90% which means more failure and downtime, the company adopted a Zero S/D PM Strategy or Philosophy which decreasing failures by 75% and improve the availability of KOC devices. Planning and management of maintenance and monitoring operations in any company decreasing failure frequency of equipments and so downtime of equipments which improves the equipments availability.

Introduction. The author defines main provisions for peculiarities of the kinematics of plant lapping in the process of finishing shut-off elements of the valves, as well as methods for determination of operating parameters and values of roughness in the process of abrasive finishing of sealing surfaces of valves. Materials and Methods. The kinematic scheme of grinding machines was developed to determine the angular velocity of rotation of an instrumental disc and lapping machine. Based on the developed kinematic scheme, we obtained analytical expressions to determine the capacity of the machine’s drive motor and cutting elements, as well as the angular and linear speeds of rotation of tool drive and laps. There were also developed trajectory traces of grid points of the lapping tool at its movement along with the treated surface details of pipe fittings. Results. There are given examples of calculation of kinematic parameters and roughness of the treated sealing surface of gate valves with the diameter DN = 100 according to established analytical dependencies for rough and finish lapping. The coordinates of the moving tools were calculated with visualization of trajectory points using special software Lazarus. The coordinates were calculated and the trace of the moving point tool was built. The specific space which characterizes the capacity of the sealing surfaces was calculated. Discussion and Conclusion. Calculations allowed us to determine how to place the lapping tool relative to the machine’s sealing surface for optimization of the treatment process. Preliminary calculations showed that the area of lapping tool’s contact with the workpiece and the optimum angle of contact would change slightly within the relative probability of error of 5% and 10%.

Problem statement. The development of energy-efficient and high-performance vibratory lapping machines demands the improvement of their design diagrams and calculation techniques. Purpose. The main objectives of this research consist in detailed analysis of existent design diagrams and mathematical models of vibratory lapping machines; designing the three-mass hanger-type structures of such machines providing circular oscillations of laps; derivation of differential equations describing the motion of their oscillatory systems. Methodology. The technique of the research is based on fundamental concepts of engineering mechanics, strength of materials and theory of mechanical vibrations. Findings (results). The improved design diagrams of vibratory lapping machines with circular oscillations of laps are proposed and the corresponding differential equations describing the motion of the working elements are derived. Originality (novelty). The mathematical model of circular oscillations of the three-mass mechanical oscillatory system of vibratory lapping machine is developed. The possibilities of performing the double-side lapping of cylindrical and prismatic parts are considered. Practical value. The results of the performed investigations can be used during creating new designs and improving existent structures of vibratory finishing machines for lapping flat surfaces of cylindrical and prismatic parts. Scopes of further investigations. In further investigations, it is necessary to perform the numerical modelling of the system’s motion using the derived differential equations, and to compare the obtained theoretical results with the results of experimental investigations.

Focusing on the feature of porosity in bamboo charcoal, this study applies the ultrasonic-assisted vibration method to perform surface polishing of the silicon wafer workpiece. The self-developed bamboo charcoal polishing spindle and ultrasonic- assisted vibration mechanism are attached to a single lapping machine. In the machining process, ultrasonic vibration enables the diamond slurry to smoothly pass through the microscopic holes of bamboo charcoal; the end of the bamboo charcoalis able to continue machining on the surface of the workpiece through the grasping force which exists in the microscopic holes. Under the polishing and machining parameters of ultrasonic-assisted vibration, with a diamond slurry concentration of 0.3%, the experimental results show a polishing time of 20 min, a loading of 25 N on the workpiece surface, a spindle speed of 1200 rpm, a vibration frequency of 30 kHz and the original surface roughness value of Ra 0.252 μm equals that of a mirror-like surface at Ra 0.017 μm. These research results prove that by using bamboo charcoal and ultrasonic-assisted vibration for polishing, a very good improvement can be achieved on the workpiece surface.
