In this paper, we analyze part of the research conducted within the project “The impact of philosophy courses on students’ attitudes” which concerns the impact of History of Ethics courses on the moral intuitions of second-year philosophy students at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nis. Students evaluated the statements given in a specially designed questionnaire on two occasions (before and after listening to the courses). By analyzing possible changes in the answers given by the students, we try to determine whether the courses they have attended in the meantime have led to a significant change in their moral intuitions.

In this paper we survey and analyse the results from the project dedicated to the question – do logic courses influence students attitude concerning logic, and if they do, in which way? Our main prediction was that the logic courses do significantly influence relevant students’ beliefs, and that influence (or the change) varies depending on the theoretical direction of the course in question. The method of our empirical inquiry was test-based examination of students’ attitudes towards specific claims. We conduct the testing twice, before and after students have went through the relevant courses, and then compared the tests. Results, although different from hypothesis to hypothesis, do generally support the conclusion that logic courses influence relevant students’ beliefs, and they typically do so in accordance to the theoretical direction of the given courses syllabuses.

In this paper, I analyze the data obtained from the research conducted by the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, Serbia during the academic year 2018/2019. The research collected data about the change of the attitude of students of philosophy regarding various theoretical statements, which students rated before and after attending courses in philosophy. By completing a specially prepared questionnaire before the first and after the second semester, students of the second year of philosophy evaluated, among other things, ten aesthetic statements. Analyzing the information collected, I look at how the teaching of the courses “History of Aesthetics 1” and “History of Aesthetics 2” (which these students attended during this school year) influenced the change that occurred in their attitude toward these statements. In addition to examining the results regarding the change of the attitude of students after the second semester, the paper also explores other data obtained in the research, which point to certain problems in the way a historical overview of aesthetic conceptions in these courses is approached.

This paper is part of the first phase of the Department of Philosophy project “The Influence of Philosophy Courses on Students’ Attitudes”. The goals of this phase of the project included designing and formulating tests that will check students values, then conducting a test, calculating results and finally analyzing and interpreting results. Having in mind the stated goals, the authors of this paper will try to explain their previous engagement in the mentioned project and, based on the analysis and interpretation of the obtained results, give recommendations for the direction in which they would further develop a platform for successful influence on critical thinking.

Part of the Department of Philosophy’s Project concerned the inquiry into the students’ attitudes towards religion and transcendent entities. Parallelly with tracking these stands comes the attempt of tracking the changes that occured over the period of two semestres. Therefore, this article represents both a review and an analysis of either occurence or absence of changes, with the final aim of verifying whether and to what extent the relevant BA courses dealing with the mentioned topics could influence the formation of changes in the students’ attitudes.

The aim of this paper is to make a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results of the project, which was carried out in the framework of research work at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Niš, in order to monitor the work of students and evaluate the effects of courses in philosophy on the formation and change of student attitudes. Our basic question is whether the newly acquired knowledge of methodology and philosophy of science affect students’ beliefs. If this effect is visible, in what direction and in what intensity does it go? We used the survey as a research method and a comparative and statistical method for data processing. The results we obtained confirmed the assumption, which we wanted to examine, of the significant influence of philosophy courses on the formation of student attitudes. Acquired knowledge of methodology and philosophy of science work to strengthen critical awareness and nondogmatic approach when considering specific problems. The results are in accordance with the theoretical orientation of the whole study of philosophy as well as the specific aims of the courses (presented in syllabuses).
