This article is part of a broader reflection on the digital drawing and new research metho‑ dologies in the History of Architecture. Aiming to reflect on the concept of Heritage Landscape, it starts from the old monastic structure of Monchique, in the city of Porto, as an experimental labora‑ tory for architectural and urban research. It is known that digital technology makes it possible to reconstruct elements from other eras, whose time has transformed or disappeared. In this context, and using digital drawing, the recognition of the built heritage and urban structures is sought through a synchronic and diachronic interpretation, attentive to the different historical periods and their specificities.

With the transformations that took place in cultural policy in Brazil since the 2000s, the field of heritage education has been democratized. In this process, inspiring experiences were sought in the history of the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN, in Portuguese) for the new performance. Thus, the Projeto Interação entre a Educação Básica e os Diferentes Contextos Culturais Existentes no País (1982-1986) — Interaction Project between Basic Education and the Different Cultural Contexts Existing in the Country (1982-1986) — was valued as an example for rethinking educational practices with cultural references. However, this appropriation of the Projeto Interação was limited to the memories of the remaining IPHAN professionals who worked at the agency in the 1980s. This article seeks to overcome the absence of systematic studies presenting the research done in the Central Archive of Brasília and demonstrating how the principles of Interação are currently present at IPHAN.

The aim of this work is to present a case study on the identification between Romanesque art and national identity in Catalonia, an association that emerged in the framework of the emergence of national movements at the end of the 19th century, but that was recovered a century later when the process for the declaration of the Romanesque churches of the Boí Valley as a world heritage site by UNESCO began. The identification of the Romanesque with a «national art» is reinforced in this case because it is a Romanesque art located in the heart of the Pyrenees, with the strong symbolic value of the mountain as the «cradle» of the Catalan nation. We will analyse the World Heritage process and its effects in the context of a small territory, with a scarce population and dependent to a great extent on the seasonality of tourism.

Quinta das Laranjeiras, owned by the merchant and military José Gonçalves da Silva, is part of the landscape of the outskirts of the city of São Luís do Maranhão from the time of its construction, in 1789, until the present day. Located at the end of the old Caminho Grande, now Oswaldo Cruz street, the Quinta has a private chapel and an imposing portal decorated with lioz stones, which reproduces the coat of arms of the Portuguese merchant. Functioning as landmarks of the boundaries of this site, these architectural elements remained during the 19th and 20th centuries as a reference for the urban evolution of São Luís, even after the various stages of the uncharacterization of the Quinta and its surroundings. In this sense, this article intends to discuss the concept of historical urban landscape attributing to Quinta das Laranjeiras the necessary patrimonial potential for a case study that understands the derivations of this category. Using UNESCO and IPHAN definitions of cultural landscape as parameters, we will analyze the formation of a stratification of meanings that have been accumulated through the historical and economic processes, in addition to punctuating the effects of the toppling of Quinta das Laranjeiras.

Between 1947 and 1958, thousands of Austrian children were hosted by Portuguese families and institutions as part of an action promoted by Caritas. Thus escaping, for some time, the misery of a country devastated by war, these “Caritas children” found in Portugal, under Antonio de Oliveira Salazar’s Estado Novo, shelter and, in most cases, affection: an experience that, besides having repercussions in their memories and journeys, also left marks that, although less visible, continue to make themselves felt in Portugal. In this article we present a general outline of the research «The “Caritas Children”, between Austria and Portugal (1947-1958)», which was aimed to understand the way the Action took place, its repercussions on those involved, the way it was dealt with by government agencies and displayed by the press at its service and perceived by the population.

The recent evolution of Historical Education shows us that the pedagogical work with Kindergarten and Basic Education children (3-12 years) is increasingly pressing. The article begins, epistemologically, defining the conceptual framework of the scientific area in the early ages and, secondly, by providing professionals and researchers with clues and examples of activities and strategies with their groups of children, both in kindergarten and in primary and secondary schools. All this with experiences tested over more than a decade of training educators and teachers at Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo increasing the creation of a working tool. Children are rich in previous knowledge that should always be the basis for moving forward

A controversial and difficult discussion topic in the context of generational dialogue in Portugal, the visions of the New State as a political regime continue to be disparate and based on the duality between «good» and «evil». Functioning as a way of transmitting ideology and values, History textbooks play an important role in the way this regime is understood by the new generations. How textbooks contribute to a critical position on this political regime is the central issue of this paper
