Abstract Background Students with a greater number of research experiences are more successful in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP.) As a result, approximately two-thirds of allopathic medical schools have implemented a scholarly research project (SP) as a part of their curriculum. While inclusion of an SP in the medical school curriculum increases research productivity, literature to date has not investigated the frequency with which it is a discussion topic during residency interviews. Methods One hundred twenty-three students from the graduating class of 2019 and 2020 at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (UACOMP) completed a 17-question survey examining the student’s SP and whether they completed additional research, with an overall response rate of 82.6%. Survey participants were asked to quantify how many residency interviewers asked about their SP or additional research during the interview process. Results Twenty-seven percent of interviewers asked students about their SP and 41% of interviewers asked students about additional non-SP research. 40% of interviewers asked about research overall to include SP and/or non-SP research. A greater percentage of interviewers (50%) asked students about their SP if they had undertaken additional research compared to interviewers of students who did not undertake additional research (29%, p = 0.0237). A greater percentage of interviewers at academic institutions (31%) asked students about their SP, compared with a smaller percentage of interviewers at predominantly non-academic programs (22%, p = 0.0054). There were no significant differences in the proportion of interviewers asking about the SP based on the type of specialty, competitiveness of specialty, relatedness project topic to specialty, and publication/presentation status of project. Conclusion Student research experiences may serve as a frequent discussion topic during the residency interview. Approximately one-quarter of interviewers ask about the SP regardless of specialty, research topic, and publication/presentation status of the project. Students with additional research experiences beyond their SP may experience a higher percentage of interviewers asking about their SP. Also, students applying to predominantly academic programs may experience a higher proportion of interview questions about research compared to peers interviewing at non-academic programs.

Receiving spam messages is one of the most serious issues in social media, especially in Twitter, which is a widely used platform to reflect the opinions and emotions of an individual publicly as well as focused to a specific group of members with similar thoughts or discussion topic. In such focused discussion groups, getting spam message through social media sites is the most annoying issue. In this paper, a system is developed to detect spam tweets by using four lightweight detectors, namely blacklist domain detector, near duplicate detector, reliable ham detector, and multiclass detector. The detected tweets are then classified using ensemble classifiers such as naïve Bayes, logistic regression, and random forest. Voting method is applied to decide the labels for the tweets obtained after classification process. The proposed system has achieved an accuracy of 79% to detect spam tweets with the help of naïve Bayes classifier method and the value seems to be optimizing further with the availability of more sample data.

Although the mental health issue is often brought up as an interesting discussion topic for these past few years, negative stigmas towards people with psychological disorders, especially schizophrenia, still exist within society. However, by expressing self-acceptance and innermost thoughts in her poetry, Choi Seung-Ja succeeded in breaking the stigmas and lived her life as a schizophrenic poet. Based on this fact, this research aims to unfold the meaning of the auditory and visual hallucinations shown in Choi Seung-Ja’s poem entitled “Du Pyeon-eui Jugeum” and to explain the motives behind the creation of the schizophrenic aspects. In order to achieve these goals, this research was carried out in three stages: reading stage; reconciliation stage; interpretation stage, through expressive psycho-literary approach. The result was obtained by associating the poem’s sensory imageries with theories related to schizophrenia disorder, the poet’s life history, and historical events. The findings show that “Du Pyeon-eui Jugeum” reflects Choi Seung-Ja’s notion which doesn’t portray death merely as a beginning of destruction but also as a gateway to self-restoration and catharsis. Furthermore, hallucinations were used not only to develop the poem’s imageries but were also used to project the feelings and the external aspects of the poet.

The article is devoted to studying sources of water law in Russia in the second half of the XIX century. The authors’ attention is focused on the correlation between law and customary law as sources of water legislation. It is emphasized that the topic under consideration is weakly studied in pre-revolutionary legal literature and modern historical and legal literature. The paper presents Russian legal scholars of the second half of the XIX century on the discussion topic of determining the place and role of custom in legal reality. The analysis of the sources of water law allows the authors to conclude that the main formal legal source of water law in Russia in the second half of the XIX century was the law, while customary law, as a regulator of water relations, prevailed in the peasant community.
