Urban areas are the areas that are most strongly affected by human activities, which presents many challenges to the ecosystem and human well-being. Ecosystem services (ES) are a comprehensive indicator to measure the ecological effects of urbanization. To effectively identify and evaluate the impact of urbanization on ES, the spatial-temporal pattern of ES should be considered. According to the level of urbanization, Xi’an city is divided into four regions: the urban core area, the urban extended area, the rural area, and the ecological conservation area, then, five comprehensive ecosystem services (CES) are evaluated by In VEST model. The results showed the following: (1) There is an obvious spatial heterogeneity in the distribution of ES. The ecological conservation area is the hot spot of ES supply, and the low value is mostly distributed in the urban core area. (2) The CES in the urban extended area that has undergone the greatest change between 2000 and 2015, and the rates of change in the ecological conservation area are the smallest. (3) There is a significant correlation between urbanization and ES, and the correction between landscape urbanization and ES is the most significant. (4) The agglomeration relationship between urbanization and ES in different regions is not consistent. Regional division provides a new way to understand the interaction between urbanization and ES in time and space, so as to provide better guidance for policy makers in formulating sustainable development policies to alleviate the loss of ES caused by the process of urbanization.

Nowadays, Underground space exploitation is one of the directions of the main focus in the construction of Hangzhou. This paper comprehensively introduces the schematic design of the underground space exploitation of Hangzhou east station, combined with the underground space development project of the core area in Hangzhou eastern new city zone. Firstly, the background of the surrounding area is discussed to illuminate the important status of the core area of eastern new city zone in Hangzhou’s future construction. Then, the holistic design concept and construction goal of the underground space exploitation of the core area are presented, and its functions and layout are clarified focusing on the railway construction and circumjacent exploitation project of Hangzhou east station. Lastly, the executive plan about the underground space exploitation of the core area of Hangzhou eastern new city zone is expatiated comprehensively.

Abstract Background and Aim Arterial wall strain has been proposed to impact the features of developed plaques. The aim of this meta-analysis is to assess the impact of different types of wall shear strain (WSS) on the changes of vulnerable plaque in coronary artery disease (CAD). Methods We systematically searched PubMed-Medline, EMBASE, Scopus, Google Scholar and the Cochrane Central Registry, from 1989 up to May 2019 in order to select clinical trials and observational studies, which assessed the relationship between WSS measured by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and morphology of plaque in CAD. Results In 7 studies, a total of 724 patients with 32,083 segments were recruited, with mean follow up 8.4 months. The pooled analysis showed that low WSS was associated with larger baseline lumen area WMD 2.55 [1.34 to 3.76, p < 0.001], smaller plaque area WMD -1.16 [-0.1.84 to -0.49, p = 0007] and necrotic core area WMD -0.45 [-0.78 to 0.14, p = 0.004], dense calcium score WMD -0.18 [-0.46 to 0.10, p = 0.01], and fibrous area WMD -0.79 [-1.84 to 0.30, p = 0.02] as well as smaller fibro-fatty area WMD -0.22 [-0.57 to 0.13, p = 0.02] compared to high WSS. At follow-up, the high WSS had regression of fibrous area, WMD -0.12 [-0.22 to -0.02, p = 0.02] and fibro-fatty area WMD -0.11 [-0.23 to -0.01, p = 0.04], reduction of plaque area WMD -0.09 [-0.17 to -0.02, p = 0.01] and increased dense calcium WMD 0.08 [0.02 to 0.14, p = 0.006] and necrotic core area WMD 0.07 [0.01 to 0.13, p = 0.03] compared to low WSS (Figure 1). The high WSS developed more profound remodeling compared to low WSS (40 vs. 18%, p < 0.05) with more constructive remodelling with low WSS (78%vs. 40 %, p < 0.01). Conclusions. Baseline high WSS is associated with higher necrotic core, calcium, fibrous and fibro-fatty area compared with low WSS, and during follow up the high WSS resulted in the development of more profound remodeling compared with low WSS. t is focused on a super high-rise building structure, of which the concrete compressive strength is reduced in joint core. The whole structure is calculated with program SATWE. Based on this calculation, integral stress analysis by MIDAS when concrete strength is reduced in joint core area and nonlinear finite element analysis by ANSYS on the joints of the worst cross-sections in the whole structure are developed. Thus the adverse effect of reduced concrete strength in joint core area on super high-rise structures is found out.

This thesis is predicated on the objectives of Toronto's Official Plan: the cessation of outward suburban development, increased growth in the urban core, increased public amenity space to support this greater density, reduced presence of the car, and the support of public transit, walking and cycling. Recognition of the serious lack of available public domain within Toronto's core to provide the appropriate scale of public space required to support this new level of density, is the subject of this thesis proposal. This thesis proposed a new large scale, north to south linear park for Toronto that integrates a system of bicycle, jogging, and pedestrian paths that connect it into existing mass transit systems, the urban core, and the existing east west park system, the Martin Goodman Trail. It creates this new public space by re-appropriating several vehicular lanes of Jarvis Street, and proposing the integration of new building development, park, sidewalk and street to amalgamate the space needed to accomplish this. Building and landscape, private and public space overlap and interconnect, to complete this new seamless urban park.

Mounds of the western pebble-mound mouse, Pseudomys chapmani, are found throughout the species’ Pilbara range in areas with iron-ore deposits of economic significance. Translocation techniques are being examined as a means of minimising the impact of mining on this species. In the absence of detailed information on the biology of Pseudomys chapmani, translocation is inadvisable. To provide such basic information, animal densities, mound demographics and population sizes, and home-range and core-area sizes were obtained by a combination of trapping and radio-tracking. Mounds of Pseudomys chapmani were found to be inhabited by social groups of up to 12 animals. Estimates of home-range size gave mean ( s.e.) values of 14·4 6·7 ha and 4·6 2·7 ha for males and females, respectively; core areas were recorded at 0·93 0·29 ha for males and 0·29 0·16 ha for females. Considerable overlap of home ranges was recorded between individuals from the same and different mounds. Overlap at the core-area level occurred only between individuals from the same mound. The high level of social complexity and mound fidelity indicates that translocations should be directed at the level of the social group rather than at the level of the individual.

Neighborhood stigma, founded on the idea that individuals avoid and denigrate spaces occupied by residents of color due to perceptions of crime and disorder, can influence travel patterns, impact housing markets, and exacerbate social and environmental justice issues. As a proliferation of urban greenways connecting once stratified communities, such stigma may also influence recreation behaviors. Using a series of observations and interviews with users and local residents, this study examined the impact of neighborhood stigma on recreational use of Chicago’s 606 Trail and surrounding communities. Results revealed why stigma occurs, how it manifests, and how different groups (e.g., White vs. Latinx residents) respond. Specifically, neighborhood stigma led White users to avoid trail segments, fueled discrimination, and catalyzed redevelop efforts in neighborhoods in the stigmatized area. This study illuminates concerns about the social impacts of urban park projects and provides insight for city officials looking to integrate greenways into diverse communities.
