A discussion among attendees of the 4th World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension took place to share “an insider's look” into the current and future research and treatment implications in pulmonary hypertension. Myung H. University of Alberta: Dr. I.N. Baker, a graduate of the University of Adelaide, has been appointed Assistant Professor. His thesis on entire functions has been accepted at the University of Tubingen (Germany) for the degree of* Dr. rer. nat. Dr. G.C. Crée, a graduate of McGill and Washington University (St. Louis), has joined the staff as Assistant Professor. He was formerly at the University of Nebraska, in Lincoln. Dr. Shanti S. Gupta, a graduate in mathematical statistics of the University of North Carolina, and latterly employed with the Bell Telephone Laboratories at Allentown, Pa., has been appointed Associate Professor. Dr. H.F.J. Lowig of the University of Tasmania (Hobart) and formerly from Czechoslovakia, has been appointed Associate Professor; his special field is algebra.

Dr. John Di Guglielmo was born and raised in Montreal, where he completed his BSc and PhD degrees in Biochemistry at McGill University. During this time, he discovered and grew his passion for conducting basic cancer research. After his post doctorate fellowship at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute (Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, ON), Dr. Di Guglielmo came to Western University as an Assistant Professor. Today, he is an Associate Professor in the Physiology and Pharmacology department at Western’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. Cheryl Yip, an Academic Affairs Coordinator for WURJHNS, had the opportunity to interview Dr. Di Guglielmo to learn more about his career in research.
