This book examines how the films of the Chinese Sixth Generation filmmaker Jia Zhangke evoke the affective “felt” experience of China’s contemporary social and economic transformations, by examining the class figures of worker, peasant, soldier, intellectual, and entrepreneur that are found in the films. Each chapter analyzes a figure’s socio-historical context, its filmic representation, and its recurring cinematic tropes in order to understand how they create what Raymond Williams calls “structures of feeling” – feelings that concretize around particular times, places, generations, and classes that are captured and evoked in art – and charts how this felt experience has changed over the past forty years of China’s economic reforms. The book argues that that Jia’s cinema should be understood not just as narratives that represent Chinese social change, but also as an effort to engage the audience’s emotional responses during this period of China’s massive and fast-paced transformation.

This article focuses on the simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems, which provide both the power supply and the communications for Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices in the sixth-generation (6G) network. Due to the extremely stringent requirements on reliability, speed, and security in the 6G network, aerial access networks (AANs) are deployed to extend the coverage of wireless communications and guarantee robustness. Moreover, sparse code multiple access (SCMA) is implemented on the SWIPT system to further promote the spectrum efficiency. To improve the speed and security of SWIPT systems in 6G AANs, we have developed an optimization algorithm of SCMA to maximize the secrecy sum rate (SSR). Specifically, a power-splitting (PS) strategy is applied by each user to coordinate its energy harvesting and information decoding. Hence, the SSR maximization problems in the SCMA system are formulated in terms of the PS and resource allocation, under the constraints on the minimum rates and minimum harvested energy of individual users. Then, a successive convex approximation method is introduced to transform the nonconvex problems to the convex ones, which are then solved by an iterative algorithm. In addition, we investigate the SSR performance of the SCMA system supported by our optimization methods, when the impacts from different perspectives are considered. Our studies and simulation results show that the SCMA system supported by our proposed optimization algorithms significantly outperforms the legacy system with uniform power allocation and fixed PS.

Recently, 5G installation has been started globally. Different capabilities are in the consistent procedure, like ultrareliability, mass connectivity, and specific low latency. Though, 5G is insufficient to meet all the necessities of the future technology in 2030 and so on. Next generation information and communication technology is playing an important role in attraction of researchers, industries, and technical people. With respect to 5G networks, sixth-generation (6G) CR networks are anticipated to familiarize innovative use cases and performance metrics, such as to offer worldwide coverage, cost efficiency, enhanced spectral, energy improved intelligence, and safety. To reach such requirements, upcoming 6G CRNs will trust novel empowering technologies. Innovative network architecture and transmission technologies and air interface are of excessive position, like multiple accesses, waveform design, multiantenna technologies, and channel coding schemes. (1) To content, the condition should be of worldwide coverage, there will be no limit on 6G to global CR communication networks that may require to be completed with broadcast networks, like satellite communication networks, therefore, attaining a sea integrated communication network. (2) The spectrums overall will be entirely travelled to the supplementary rise connection density data rates in optical frequency bands, millimeter wave (mmWave), sub-6 GHz, and terahertz (THz). (3) To see big datasets created because of tremendously varied CR communication networks, antenna rush, diverse communication scenarios, new provision necessities, wide bandwidth, and 6G CRNs will allow an innovative variety of intelligent applications with the assistance of big data and AI technologies. (4) Need to improve network security when deploying 6G technology in CR networks. 6G is decentralized, intended, intelligent innovative, and distributed network. In this article, we studied a survey of current developments and upcoming trends. We studied the predicted applications, possible technologies, and security issues for 6G CR network communication. We also discussed predicted future key challenges in 6G.

Abstract The future sixth generation (6G) is going to face the significant challenges of massive connections and green communication. Recently, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) have been proposed as two key technologies to address the above problems. Motivated by this fact, we consider a downlink RIS-aided NOMA system, where the base station seeks to communicate with two NOMA users with the aid of a RIS. Considering future network supporting real-time service, we investigate the system performance with the view of effective capacity (EC), which is an important evaluation metric of sensitive to delay sensitive system. Based on this basis, we derive the analytical expressions of the EC of the near and far users. To obtain more useful insights, we deduce the analytical approximation expressions of the EC in the low signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) approximation by utilizing Taylor expansion. In order to compare, we provide the results of orthogonal multiple access (OMA). It is found that 1) The number of RIS components and the transmission power of the base station have important effects on the performance of the considered system model. 2) Compared with OMA, NOMA system has higher effective capacity due to the short transmission time.

Abstract Sub-terahertz (THz) technology is expected to deliver exceptional data rates for future sixth generation wireless communication systems especially for intelligent communication among devices falling under the Internet of Things (IoT) category. Moving from current 5G millimeter wave (mmW) technology towards THz spectrum will eventually provide unprecedented solutions that will guarantee higher transmission rates and channel capacity for any wireless communication system. With various electronic and wireless components working together to fulfill this promise, high gain antennas having compact profile is one such technology that will aid in achieving sub-THz communication while offering low path and power losses with reliable and fast data transfers. In this context, this work proposes a novel deformed patch antenna operating in the sub-THz spectrum i.e. at 300 GHz band. The proposed antenna is fed via a microstrip line following the proximity coupled feeding technique. Utilizing this technique provides a wide impedance bandwidth with a broadside radiation pattern having minimum side lobe levels of around −12 dB and a directivity of 10–15 dBi for the single and array elements respectively. The proposed design has a small footprint of 1.5 × 1.5 × 0.06 mm3 for the single element while the array element has dimensions of 6 × 5 × 0.06 mm3. Both the designs have been simulated in Computer Simulation Technology-Microwave Studio (CST-MWS) and the results verified via high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) simulator. The results confirm the viability of the proposed designs to be potential candidates for future sixth generation and IoT based applications.
