A SAPO-34 catalyst is well known to be one of the best catalysts for DME to olefins (DTO) reaction. Main products of the reaction were light olefins such as ethylene, propylene and butenes. However, the main problem is rapid deactivation of the SAPO-34 catalyst due to coke deposition during DTO reaction. In this study, various SAPO-34/ZrO2 catalysts added with ZrO2 were prepared for improving the lifetime and their physicochemical properties have been characterized by XRD and SEM. The DTO reaction over various SAPO-34/ZrO2 catalysts was carried out using a fixed bed reactor. All SAPO-34/ZrO2 catalysts showed similar activity and selectivity in the DTO reaction. The SAPO-34(9wt%)/ZrO2 catalyst was showed the best performance for the catalyst lifetime.

AbstractThe present review focuses on a comparison and assessment of zeolite catalyst performance of dimethyl ether and light olefin production through methanol. Dimethyl ether is a clean fuel which needs diverse processes to be produced. Methanol to dimethyl ether is a very novel process which offers considerable advantages versus additional processes for the production of dimethyl ether. The corresponding fixed-bed reactors compose the most important section of such a process. Production of dimethyl ether by the mentioned process is of high importance since it can be catalytically transferred to a substance with the value of propylene. Furthermore, in case of capability to transfer low-purity methanol into dimethyl ether, less expensive methanol can be consequently achieved with higher value added. In the petrochemical industry, light olefins, for example, ethylene and propylene, can be used as raw materials for the production of polyolefin. The present review aims to produce dimethyl ether in order to reach olefin substances, initially conducting a compressive assessment on production methods of olefin substances.

A novel process for methanol and dimethyl ether(DME) synthesis was developed, in which two methanol-synthesis fixed-bed reactors were followed by an identical one for DME synthesis with cooling sections in between. Self-made Cu-Zn-Al catalyst for methanol synthesis and DME synthesis were used in this process. Tests of catalysts showed that both of them had activity and favorable stability and wound be capable of long-term industrial operation under the conditions. The investigation of processing parameters and stability led us safely to ensure the optimal condition: T1-200oC,T2-190 °C,T3-210 °C,5Mpa,total Space Velocity-1000h-1(T1,T2,T3 defined as temperature of catalytic beds in three serial reactors). Under that the catalytic system kept stable during the investigated hours.

The Paris Metropolitan area, which contains over eight million inhabitants, has a daily output of about 3 M cu.meters of wastewater, the purification of which is achieved by SIAAP (Paris Metropolitan Area Sewage Service) in both Achères and Valenton plants. The carbon pollution is eliminated from over 2 M cu.m/day at Achères. In order to improve the quality of output water, its tertiary nitrification in fixed-bed reactors has been contemplated. The BIOFOR (Degremont) and BIOCARBONE (OTV) processes could be tested in semi-industrial pilot reactors at the CRITER research center of SIAAP. At a reference temperature of 13°C, the removed load is approximately 0.5 kg N NH4/m3.day. From a practical point of view, it may be asserted that in such operating conditions as should be at the Achères plant, one cubic meter of filter can handle the tertiary nitification of one cubic meter of purified water per hour at an effluent temperature of 13°C.

The relationship between the filter media and the behaviour of anaerobic bacteria was studied using anaerobic fixed-bed reactors. At an HRT of 48 hours, the number of suspended acidogenic bacteria was higher than those attached to the filter media. On the other hand, the number of attached methanogenic bacteria was more than ten times as higher than that of suspended ones. The numbers of suspended and deposited acidogenic and methanogenic bacteria in the reactor operated at an HRT of 3 hours were almost the same as those in the reactor operated at an HRT of 48 hours. Accumulation of attached bacteria was promoted by decreasing the HRT of the reactor. The number of acidogenic bacteria in the reactor packed sparsely with the filter media was higher than that in the closely packed reactor. The number of methanogenic bacteria in the sparsely packed reactor was lower than that in the closely packed reactor.
