Abstract Alloy Steel 1.8 Cu-1.0 Mn-1.2 Si is a low-carbon (0.20% max.) cast steel designed to provide intermediate tensile and yield strength. Copper lowers the ductility and toughness of cast steel but, for a given increase in tensile strength, the loss of ductility and toughness is less if copper is added than if carbon is increased. This steel has many uses such as booms, long shafting and gears. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. TiN coated films were prepared by a reactive ion physical vapor deposition method. In this research, we studied the relationships between textures and friction coefficient, erosion-corrosion resistance and corrosion resistance in textured TiN films. The surface roughness of (115) textured TiN films is lower than that of (111) textured TiN films. The friction coefficient of (115) textured surface is similar with that of (111) textured surface of TiN coated films. The erosion-corrosion and corrosion resistance of (115) textured surface is better than that of (111) textured surface of TiN coated films.

Soft and hard FeCrNiSi alloy coatings were obtained on 30CrMo alloy steel surface by laser cladding. The phase constitution, microstructure, frictional wear behavior and corrosion resistance of the composite coating were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), three-dimensional non-contact surface mapping, friction and wear testing machine and electrochemical workstation, separately. XRD analysis showed that the cladding layer was mainly composed of Fe-based alloy composition, accompanied by a small amount of cobalt nickel alloy. There were massive protrusions in the interface of the soft sample, and the coating was regularly dendritic. Hard sample coating lines were cluttered, and there was no bulk deposition. Under the same wear condition, the soft coating exhibited serious abrasive wear, while the hard coating had slight abrasive wear behavior. The polarization curves in 3%NaCl solution revealed that the self-corrosion potential of the soft coating was positive shifted more than that the hard coating. The soft coating has better corrosion resistance than the hard coating.

Abstract WC-Co-Cr powders with different WC particle size have been sprayed by the HVOF process. At constant spraying conditions the powders give coatings of different quality. The deposition efficiency during spraying of powders containing large WC particles was found to be low compared to powders with finer WC grains. In addition the amounts of porosity and cracks were different. The coatings have been characterised by different methods. Erosion and erosion-corrosion tests showed that the WC particle size also influence the wear resistance of the coatings. Small WC particle size was found to be beneficial. Chemical composition of the matrix was also found to be decisive for the coating properties. An increase of the chromium content improved the erosion-corrosion resistance.
