This paper deals with the evolution of the psychoanalytic practice with psychotic patients beginning with Freud's scepticism about the transference capacities of those patients to a new definition of a special kind of psychotic transference. The main hypothesis is that the actual case of psychotics within a psychoanalytic cure has modified the psychoanalytic method itself, even in the field of neuroses. Within the framework and, more specifically, in the case of schizophrenics, this paper develops some reflections on the evolution of the three following concepts: transference/countertransference, communication and interpretation, and reality.

Abstract This paper discusses a creative manual diagnosis approach, a complementary technique that provides the possibility to extend Automatic Test Pattern Generation (ATPG) beyond its own limits. The authors will discuss this approach in detail using an actual case – a test coverage issue where user-generated ATPG patterns and the resulting ATPG diagnosis isolated the fault to a small part of the digital core. However, traditional fault localization techniques was unable to isolate the fault further. Using the defect candidates from ATPG diagnosis as a starting point, manual diagnosis through fault Injection and fault simulation was performed. Further fault localization was performed using the ‘not detected’ (ND) and/or ‘detected’ (DT) fault classes for each of the available patterns. The result has successfully deduced the defect candidates until the exact faulty net causing the electrical failure was identified. The ability of the FA lab to maximize the use of ATPG in combination with other tools/techniques to investigate failures in detail; is crucial in the fast root cause determination and, in case of a test coverage, aid in having effective test screen method implemented.

Based on an actual case of a New York farmer who murdered his family, the novel employs Gothic devices and sensational elements such as spontaneous combustion, ventriloquism, and religious fanaticism. The plot turns on the charming but diabolical intruder Carwin, who exercises his power over the narrator, Clara Wieland, and her family, destroying the order and authority of the small community in which they live. Underlying the mystery and horror, however, is a profound examination of the human mind's capacity for rational judgement. The text also explores some of the most important issues vital to the survival of democracy in the new American republic. Brown further considers power and manipulation in his unfinished sequel, Memoirs of Carwin the Biloquist, which traces Carwin's career as a disciple of the utopist Ludloe.

AbstractMethods used to predict surgical case time often rely upon the current procedural terminology (CPT) code as a nominal variable to train machine-learned models, however this limits the ability of the model to incorporate new procedures and adds complexity as the number of unique procedures increases. The relative value unit (RVU, a consensus-derived billing indicator) can serve as a proxy for procedure workload and could replace the CPT code as a primary feature for models that predict surgical case length. Using 11,696 surgical cases from Duke University Health System electronic health records data, we compared boosted decision tree models that predict individual case length, changing the method by which the model coded procedure type; CPT, RVU, and CPT–RVU combined. Performance of each model was assessed by inference time, MAE, and RMSE compared to the actual case length on a test set. Models were compared to each other and to the manual scheduler method that currently exists. RMSE for the RVU model (60.8 min) was similar to the CPT model (61.9 min), both of which were lower than scheduler (90.2 min). 65.2% of our RVU model’s predictions (compared to 43.2% from the current human scheduler method) fell within 20% of actual case time. Using RVUs reduced model prediction time by ninefold and reduced the number of training features from 485 to 44. Replacing pre-operative CPT codes with RVUs maintains model performance while decreasing overall model complexity in the prediction of surgical case length.

Incremental sheet forming is a specific group of sheet forming methods that enable the manufacture of complex parts utilizing computer numerical control instead of specialized tools. It is an incredibly adaptable operation that involves minimal usage of sophisticated tools, dies, and forming presses. Besides its main application in the field of rapid prototyping, incremental sheet forming processes can be used for the manufacture of unique parts in small batches. The goal of this study is to broaden the knowledge of the deformation process in single-point incremental forming. This work studies the deformation behavior in single-point incremental forming by experimentally investigating the principal stresses, principal strains, and thinning of single-point incremental forming products. Conical-shaped components are fabricated using AA1050-H14 aluminum alloy at various combinations of fundamental variables. The factorial design is employed to plan the experimental study and analysis of variance is conducted to analyze the results. The grey relational analysis approach coupled with entropy weights is also implemented to identify optimum process variables for single-point incremental forming. The results show that the tool diameter has the greatest effect on the thinning of the SPIF product, followed by the sheet thickness, step size, and feed rate.

As a further extension of the fuzzy set and the intuitive fuzzy set, the interval-valued intuitive fuzzy set (IIFS) is a more effective tool to deal with uncertain problems. However, the classical rough set is based on the equivalence relation, which do not apply to the IIFS. In this paper, we combine the IIFS with the ordered information system to obtain the interval-valued intuitive fuzzy ordered information system (IIFOIS). On this basis, three types of multiple granulation rough set models based on the dominance relation are established to effectively overcome the limitation mentioned above, which belongs to the interdisciplinary subject of information theory in mathematics and pattern recognition. First, for an IIFOIS, we put forward a multiple granulation rough set (MGRS) model from two completely symmetry positions, which are optimistic and pessimistic, respectively. Furthermore, we discuss the approximation representation and a few essential characteristics for the target concept, besides several significant rough measures about two kinds of MGRS symmetry models are discussed. Furthermore, a more general MGRS model named the generalized MGRS (GMGRS) model is proposed in an IIFOIS, and some important properties and rough measures are also investigated. Finally, the relationships and differences between the single granulation rough set and the three types of MGRS are discussed carefully by comparing the rough measures between them in an IIFOIS. In order to better utilize the theory to realistic problems, an actual case shows the methods of MGRS models in an IIFOIS is given in this paper.
