Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME), .NET Compact Framework (.NET CF), and Active Server Pages .NET (ASP.NET) Mobile Controls are commonly used alternatives in mobile programming. They provide an environment for applications to run on mobile devices. However, they are different in many ways, such as supported mobile devices, architecture, and development. Hence, it is important for mobile application developers to understand the differences between them in order to choose the one that meets their requirement. Therefore, in this article we will discuss the general architecture of J2ME, .NET CF and ASP.NET Mobile Controls and compare the three alternatives.

Abstract— Teknologi informasi geografi berkembang sangat pesat dalam beberapa dekade terakhir ini. Sekarang ini, WMS (Web Map Services) tidak hanya dapat menghasilkan gambar raster tetapi juga gambar vektor. Contohnya adalah SVGT (Scalable Vector Graphics Tiny) yang merupakan bagian dari SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) yang digunakan pada piranti mobile device. Mahalnya biaya komunikasi antara handheld device dengan jaringan internet melalui GPRS (Global Pocket Radio System) menimbulkan sebuah masalah dalam penerapan aplikasi mobile mapping. Untuk mengeliminasi masalah tersebut, harus dibuat sebuah aplikasi mobile mapping yang dapat mentransfer data sekecil mungkin. Didalam penelitian ini, dicoba untuk dibuat sebuah server pemetaan yang memanfaatkan teknologi SVGT dan XML. Kedua format data tersebut digunakan untuk menghasilkan data sekecil mungkin agar dapat menghemat biaya komunikasi antara klien dan server. Pada akhirnya, aplikasi yang dibangun akan menjadi sebuah server yang memiliki klien berupa handheld / mobile device.Aplikasi ini dibangun dengan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan memanfaatkan database PostgreSQL beserta ekstensi PostGIS-nya pada sisi server dan J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) pada sisi mobile client. Aplikasi yang telah dibangun mampu untuk menampung peta jalan dari sebuah daerah, menampilkannya dalam format SVGT kepada klien, serta mencari rute terpendek antara dua buah jalan dengan menggunakan algoritma Floyd-Warshall. Mobile device sebagai client mempunyai beberapa fungsi utama, yaitu download map dengan format SVGT dari server, menyimpan map ke dalam record store, menampilkan map dan juga melakukan fungsi pan dan zoom terhadap map. Fungsi lainnya adalah searching atau mencari  titik tertentu pada map sesuai dengan permintaan user, request path ke server untuk mendapatkan jalur terpendek antara dua titik, dan set mark atau menyimpan titik-titik pada peta yang telah diberi tanda oleh user.Keywords— SVG, SVGT, Mobile Mapping, Web Map Services, J2ME, Java 2 Micro Editon.

Se desarrolló un proyecto de telecomunicaciones para la supervisión médica remota de pacientes hipoglucémicos y diabéticos; el prototipo permite a los médicos monitorear a los pacientes con el fin de mantener el control de su salud. El sistema completo consiste de una aplicación móvil instalada en el dispositivo de cada paciente; una base de datos relacional que almacena la información; y una aplicación servidor que utilizan los médicos para diagnosticar con base a la condición de sus pacientes. Para el desarrollo del proyecto se diseñó e implementó la metodología DAM (Desarrollo de Aplicaciones Móviles); siguiendo ésta, se obtuvo como resultado el correcto funcionamiento integrado de cado uno de los elementos del sistema y una evaluación satisfactoria del potencial de éxito de la aplicación móvil.Palabras clave: DBMS, glucosa, Java 2 Micro Edition, SMS.

Dictionary is one of the important media in learning English. Along with the rapid development of mobile technology at this time, the various applications for mobile is widely developed as a medium of learning, one of them is the application of Android-based dictionary. Dictionaries on mobile devices are more practical than conventional dictionaries, as users can receive information quickly anywhere without space and time constraints. Related to this, the research aims to create a dictionary application of English-Indonesian graphics techniques capable of running on android-based phones. This application is built to help and meet the needs of students majoring in graphic technique in searching for meaning and understand various English words related to science of graphics. The collection of words and phrases (word entries) related to the science of graphic technique is done through literature studies of books, internet and other relevant sources. In addition, the collection of words and phrases is also done by conducting in-depth interviews with lecturers or graphic technique experts. The programming languages used in making this language dictionary application use Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) and SQLite. The dictionary after being validated of 4.14 with good category) and tested received positive response from the students indicated with very positive questionnaire results.
