Abstract Magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4) and humic acid coated magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4/HA) were investigated for the removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution. Batch sorption experiments were studied as a function contact time, adsorbent mass, U(VI) concentration and pH. The sorption kinetic data follow the pseudo-second order while the isotherms are found to obey Langmuir model with maximum capacity (Qmax) of 230, 196 mg/g for Fe3O4 and Fe3O4/HA, respectively. The study reveals that humic acid decreases the sorption capacity due to the formation of a polyanionic organic coating and thus altering the surface properties of the particles and reduces the magnetite aggregation and stabilizes the magnetite suspension.

The adsorptive behavior of As(V) by using Fe-loaded D301(D301-Fe) was investigated under various conditions. The results indicated that As(V) strongly adsorbed at pH<10. Adsorption isotherm data could be better interpreted by Langmuir model. The kinetic data of the adsorption could be well described by the Lagergren second-order rate equation. equimolar addition of other anionic species such as SO2- 4, Clˉ and Fˉ had no influence on the adsorption of As(V), but PO3- 4 had a strong inhibition on As(V)

The residue of erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil) was used as a potential adsorbent to remove methylene blue in aqueous solutions. Three particle sizes and three agitation speeds were evaluated on the adsorption process. The kinetic equilibrium was reached about 350 minutes. The kinetic model of pseudo-second order was the one that best described the kinetic data of adsorption. The equilibrium data were better represented by Langmuir model with a qmax of 44.84 mg.g-1 for a temperature of 30°C. The residue of erva-mate proved to be an alternative adsorbent with potential to removal of this dye.

Based on isothermal adsorption experiment and adsorption/desorption kinetic experiment, the adsorption and desorption characteristics of suspended sediments in Ganjiang River to phophorus was studied. The results show the phosphorus adsorption of sediment reaches balance basically in 2~4h; the adsorption capacity is increased with the increment of the initial concentration of phosphorus, and decreased with the increment of sediment conentration. The isothermal adsorption of phosphorus by sediment can be fitted preferably by Langmuir and Freundlic model. The adsorption and desorption process can be fitted by Langmuir equation. The phosphorus desorption of sediment reaches balance basically in about 14h. The phosphorus desorption capacity of sediment is decreased with the increment of sediment concentration.

SummaryThe kinetic data of two different 99mTc-Sn-pyrophosphate compounds (compound A and B) were evaluated in non-adult rats. Only compound A concentrated in bone. Both compounds dispersed rapidly in the intravascular as well as the extravascular space. The plasma protein bond of both compounds increased with time after injection and impaired both the renal clearance of both compounds and the bone clearance of compound A. The renal clearance of both compounds was somewhat above that of 5 1Cr-EDTA. It is concluded that compound A and B is mainly excreted by glomerular filtration. About one fourth of the glomerular filtrate of compound B is reabsorbed and accumulated by the tubular cells.

SummaryA method is described for the partial purification of a human plasma factor which accelerates the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin in the presence of tissue thromboplastin. This factor may be dried from the frozen state, and may be kept in stable dry form for long periods of time. The quantitative assay of this activity is done in a classical two-stage prothrombin system using tissue thromboplastin and calcium. From its properties, it is concluded that this activity corresponds to factor V, labile factor and plasma Ac-globulin.Chemical and kinetic studies reveal that human factor V is active in plasma and is destroyed by thrombin. Human serum has little or no factor V activity. These results thus fail to support the postulated activation of factor V during clotting. All of the kinetic data are consistent with an enzymatic role for factor V in the formation of tissue prothrombin activator (thromboplastin).
